The Bucs are back on the practice field this morning, and Joe is here at One Buc Palace to bring you the sights, sounds and assorted fun.
It’s the full team today, rookies mingling with veterans, and then talking about it afterwards.

I agree with Williams, thank you Joe for the reports, Even though the reports of MG8 are through very squinted eyes of hatred, just like last year when Glennon was clearly better than JF5.

Joe writes at practices what Joe sees. If you don’t like it, if those reports don’t fit your narratives, then don’t read the f@cking things.
Joe doesn’t waste his time roasting and getting sunburned at practices writing make-believe articles just so whack jobs can jerk off at night in glee.

How come you aren’t picking out the times when Joe wrote Freeman stunk at practice? Or are you always a fraud?

Joe you are so sensitive. Nobody said anything about not appreciating your reports. If you can’t take some ribbing after all the back handed shots you give your own readers then maybe YOU should think about your writing style.

Realist, Couch and 1987… so, how good (or actually bad) was JF5? I’m not going to say one way or other, but in your opinion was he absolutely horrid? And if so, is stating that Glennon was “clearly” better than horrid (JF5) really a compliment? Or is it more of a “well, now we’re just bad, which is better than horrid”? Just curious, because I don’t see the compliment there.
To be honest and fair, draft pick status should have no merit once a player is starting in the NFL. Said starting player (no matter where picked in the draft) should be compared to ALL other starting players in the draft (again, regardless of draft selection). Now… where does said starting player stack up to the rest? Is that good enough? Do we need to upgrade stated position, or shall we stack talent around that player to hide deficiencies until we have better opportunity to upgrade, or are we set? Do we have a player at or near the top of his position in the league? What is the likelihood said player will ever reach that level? Can we see current progression from Soph, Junior, Senior in college to rookie in NFL? Have flaws been reduced or eliminated over the past 2, 3 or 4 years? If progression in the past has been slow, how many years do we invest in the future?
Just a little food for thought. I don’t expect answers, just hope most fans take the time to really look deep at what we have and what we should do to improve. I do think we are improved this year, even if Glennon is the starting QB. But not because he is the QB, rather because of the added pieces around him. Does that mean he is improving? I’m sure the coaches will know how to break down individual play and see the truth, for better or worse.

With the exception of the 4th quarter, yes Freeman was horrid. 1 good quarter doesn’t make up for 3 bad ones and he had over 60+ games for people to come to that conclusion. Glennon had 13, major major difference whether you want to admit it or not…
Anyways, none of this is suppose to be taken personal. It’s all in good fun, or at least I thought so.

OK, cool. It just came across you were suggesting Joe was lying. Freeman was in practice what he was in games. Sometimes, he looked fabulous. Other times, he was worse that Tebow. And, yes, Joe wrote about those times too.
(Later today, you will notice Joe will write how Glennon’s passing looked sharp today; moreso than McCown. Yes, really. )

By all means, Couch. I will admit that Freeman started 59 of 60 games played in Tampa, while Glennon has only played 13. Again, just like draft pick status or selection, it doesn’t matter to me. Better is better, worse is worse, same is same. The most that could possibly mean is how much “potential” one player has vs the other. Basically, Glennon has more “potential” because he has fewer games played, less experience, and is about 2 years younger in age.
I’m not saying one is better than another, honestly I really couldn’t care less about Freeman, as he’s not on our team and not a “starter” on any team to compare to a potential “starter” on our team. That’s like saying Glennon is better than Orlovsky or Kafka…. so what? Who cares? You should be asking is he better than Eli Manning or Bridgewater/Cassel/Ponder. I can’t put him equal to or ahead of Eli, as erratic as he is, simply based on Super Bowl wins. Vikings are harder to gauge. Better than Cassel/Ponder? I would say maybe equal to. Better than Bridgewater? Now that is a real unknown and I would love to find the answer to that one this year.

Here’s the thing with me. I dont confess Glennon to be great or good nor do I even predict that he’s the future. I just think he had a successful rookie season considering everything he had to deal with. And for that, I would like to see what else the kid can do for us. I have no problem with competition, just as long as he has a fair shot which a 1st rounder wouldn’t of afforded him. And the more people seem to just want to throw him away the more I want to support the kid to do great. I like the under dog what can I say. And if we decide to move on then thats fine to. I would just hate to move on to quickly before finding out what he really can do.

Lovie said from the first that he needed a QB with mobility, so I keep that in mind when he says right before the draft that Glennon is our Future QB. There is no way Josh or Tedford can teach Glennon to have mobility so he never will be the QB Lovie needs or Tedford can use in his offense. So I believe they will coach him up as best they can and then put him out there during Preseason to show his improvement and hope someone will have a QB hurt and offer a much better pick for Glennon, and they can make Smith their backup–who does have mobility.
