Lovie Is Over Chicago

When the NFL schedule was about to be announced, many pundits figured there was a lot of interest in the Bucs-Bears game because of Lovie Smith.
The new Bucs coach is here, in part, because he was jettisoned by the Bears nearly two seasons ago after the gall to win 10 games.
Some believe Lovie may have strong personal feelings about some of his former players still in Chicago, thus he was looking forward to his return to the Second City, when the Bucs head there on Nov. 23. People who thought that would be, well, incorrect.
“Why would that be of any concern to me?” Lovie said. “When you play Chicago – I think most of you kind of know me a little bit, I understand I’ve been there for a while, but we want to beat Chicago as much as we want to beat Cleveland and anybody else on the schedule as much as anything. I know we’re eventually going to go up there and that’s fine. Hopefully in about a month I’ll have my house sold, I don’t have a whole lot of connections up there anymore.”
This really isn’t a surprise to Joe. Chicago is in his rearview mirror. The Bears launched him. Why would he have good feelings for the Bears? He is not quite two years removed from being shown the door.
A win is a win, no matter if it is the Bears or the Dixie Chicks.

Gotta love that he’s a Buc now! From Texas and lives in Florida why would he want anything to do with Chicago????

He’s actually only been out of Chicago for 16 months…that’s not even a year and a half.

Nice thing to say but I dont buy it for a second. Desean Jackson cant wait to see the eagles twice. Steve Smith said to bring goggles because it will be a blood bath. Lovie is just more mature and is saying the right things. He is a competitive man. You cant just turn that off.

Born and raised in Florida, then lived in Seattle for 7 years. Attended the UW. I can say from firsthand experience that while the surrounding countryside is beautiful Seattle itself is a left-wing hell hole with the worst roads in the country, nightmare traffic on their poorly maintained interstate, queers on every corner, incompetent extreme liberal politicians with an oppressive tax-and-spend approach towards the population, a mish mash of people completely lacking in any kind of identifiable culture, and is in general a directionless morally bankrupt city.
The only good things about Seattle? The coffee and some of the music. That’s it. And since they exported the espresso culture and grunge & post-grunge music to the rest of America even those two things are no longer exclusive to the area.
I left back in 2000 and will never look in my rearview mirror at the place. Good riddance.

Grew up in Dunedin, been in Palos Heights, a suburb of Chicago for 13 years. Yes Chicago is a great city, but corrupt as heck. I can’t wait to retire and spend my winters in Florida! Anyway, that game this November is gonna be huge here, many still love Lovie…can’t wait. GO BUCS!
