Glennon Acted Like Bucs Leader

Until early March, Mike Glennon considered himself the starting quarterback of the Bucs. And why not? He started the last 13 games of the 2013 season after former Bucs starting quarterback, leaky, sleepy Rip Van Freeman, went mental.
So Glennon did what a good team leader does,what starting quarterbacks should do. And that was trying to gather players to work out on their own.
Glennon, when he spoke with the Tampa Bay pen and mic club yesterday, discussed how he had regular gatherings with Bucs teammates. And if you at sometime since January thought you saw Glennon throwing a football in a park, you weren’t seeing things.
“Well, really, with all the [NFL] rules, it’s hard to do a lot with the new offense,” Glennon said. “I’ve just been doing throwing pretty often with some of the guys who hung out in Tampa. Working out, working on trying to get bigger, faster stronger, the typical things in the offseason. Now that we have a playbook I can dive into that and start to master the new offense that we have.”
Glennon said that a couple of times a week, he would throw footballs to receivers along with Dan Orlovsky. He and his teammates wanted to use various high school fields to work out, but couldn’t often do that due to conflicts of some sort. So Glennon and his teammates took to parks where there were open spaces to run routes.
Outside of Orlovsky, Glennon didn’t mention anyone else who participated by name, but did say that the blight upon society, Mike Williams, couldn’t because he was still recovering from hamstring surgery and his leg wasn’t quite right yet to run routes full speed.

I was at a family reunion picnic at a park. I saw Napoleon Dynamite throwing a football to Fresh Prince and Eddie Murphy. Turns out that was really MG8 throwing to Skye Dawson and Page.

But Bucs have been notorious for letting good QB’s find success elsewhere while hitching the wagon to chumps. But hey it’s all about passing the armchair GM’s/HC’s “eyeball test” to determine who the great ones will be since stats are for losers

Lmao glennon is a second string QB at best get over it! if the QBs in camp are McCown and glennon .. glennon doesn’t have a chance if we draft a QB he automatically is our #3. Like do you people watch football !? do you really I mean really think a new GM and head coach that hand nothing to do with pencil neck glennon would have him start!!? lol umm no obviously when we signed Josh they automatically named him our starter. Do you think two years 10 million is back up money ? ummm no with a 3 million bonus if he takes us to playoffs ummm no you people are pathetic

It’s a joke how much bashing he’s taken. You have to be a moron if you don’t think he had a solid rookie campaign last year; what do you expect, for him to be play like Peyton Manning? He’s done all the right things so far. He’s had a much better start to his career than that bum Josh Freeman did.

If I am mistaken Patrick, didnt sleepy leaky lead this team on a 4th quarter comeback win against the eventual super bowl champs in his first game? Also didn’t Freeman organize off season camps during the lockout year?
Look I am a Buc fan first and think Glennon did a great job coming off the bench as a rookie and not turn the ball over, but i think it is either McCown Rookie taking the QB reigns. With the Bucs trading Glennon on draft day

I don’t see why they can’t practice on they’re own at the team facility. I know they can now but crap too many rules. As for Glennon, I don’t think Lovie is the type to have too much pride to play Glennon if he proves to be the best option. Never know he may be that much more improved. If he get’s the job it will be because he worked hard and earned it. If not he’ll be a career backup. I’m rotting for him though. McCown would be a cool story if his play suddenly took the next step and became great. Likely won’t happen but you never know till you try. There is no available QB anywhere as FA or draft pick that guarantees everything. That’s why am most excited this year than any other, I feel it will be a team effort every week. A good coached football team finally back in Tampa!

There really is no reason at all for all the hate being thrown Glennon’s way. It’s totally irrational how emotional some fans are on this. We don’t know yet what we have with Glennon, with the horrible offensive philosophy last year I am not sure he had a chance. He did not get to throw offen when it was not 3rd and forever and thats just not a good environment to evaluate him in. One thing is he didn’t throw many picks despite that so that is something at least. Even if he doesn’t pan out, you haters need to ease up on the kid as he is obviously a class act who docent deserve all your crap. I am all for letting competition dictate who plays, whoever it is.

No interest to deffend Josh Freeman, but he had a more spectacular start of his tenure as the Franchise QB than MG8. Glennon could never win a game by himself. Josh was a master in the 4th Qtr. He had his mental issues last year and never consistent. But no way to compare MG8 skills to his.

the next CBA negotiation will be interesting. now that players have won the right to not be bothered for much of the offseason, it seems to be bubbling up that alot of players find it frustrating. between that and the softer training camps and fewer padded practices, the more “player friendly” CBA seems to have resulted in a lower quality of football in many NFL cities.

You’re no more an expert than anyone else on this site. And quit calling us names. You want a Rookie to start if McCown goes down or sucks? How’d that work out last year? Threw a rookie into the fire. Glennon has year under his belt and is doing everything he can to become a better player. He could step in if necessary better than a rookie can (again see last year).
