Marlon Moore And The Bucs
April 1st, 2014In a potential move that screams “special teams,” it seems the Bucs are not quite done fishing for free agent wide receivers.
Per NFL insider Howard Balzer, the Bucs yesterday worked out former 49ers wide receiver Marlon Moore.
Now there is nothing here that will make people forget Larry Fitzgerald or even Michael Crabtree. Moore, who played sporadically with the 49ers last year, was released by the team.
Moore has been in the NFL three years, two in Miami, and his yards-per-catch has dropped consistently since his rookie season when he averaged 21 yards a reception. Last year Moore split time between Miami and San Francisco and played in 14 games.
Joe can’t imagine Moore, who has been a career reserve, doing much of anything with the Bucs other than special teams.
And no, Joe would not be shocked if the Bucs draft a wide receiver next month in what is widely regarded as one of the deepest drafts for wide receivers in years.

Moore was signed out of Fresno State as a free agent and was not drafted. He has very good speed and was used as a gunner by San Francisco on STs. This just shows Lovie’s dedication to excellent Special Teams.

I doubt very seriously that L&L are targeting Watkins @ 7. Not in a draft this deep at WR. It’s just way too easy to get great talent at the position for a lot less.
