Judge: Stay Away From Mike!

March 25th, 2014
Mike Williams' brother, Eric Baylor's mugshot.

Mike Williams’ brother, Eric Baylor, has been ordered by a judge to stay away from Williams.

The judge handling the case of Eric Baylor, the brother of Bucs wide receiver Mike Williams, may have done the Bucs the biggest favor since former Bucs rock star general manager cut Myron Lewis.

Baylor, who is alleged to have gone all Ginsu and knifed Williams Sunday, turned himself into authorities last night and had to stand in front of a judge this morning for a bail hearing.

Baylor, who is charged with aggravated battery domestic violence, a felony, got more good news when the judge slapped him with a $1,000 bond (which is virtually nothing). More importantly, which is common when someone is accused of attacking another person, Baylor was ordered to stay away from Williams, per Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times.

@gregauman: Judge has set bond at $1,000 and ordered Eric Baylor to have no contact with his brother, Bucs WR Mike Williams, @TimesDan reports in Tampa.

This is the best news Williams has had since he moved to the house he got knifed in. From what Joe has heard, one problem associated with Williams and why fans have turned on him as if he was Richard Speck can be linked to family members. And then a family member — Baylor, allegedly — decides to jam a kitchen blade into Williams’ thigh.

The best thing for Williams, and the Bucs, has been the court order for Baylor to stay away.

Must be a super weak case with only a $1,000.00 bond.

Only three stiches tells you something, too. –Joe

  2. Buccanole Says:

Yeah because this dude for sure looks like someone who’s going to respect a court order. Hide yo kids hide you wife Mike you getting stabbed tonight

  3. tmaxcon Says:

id submit that hallmark if i were you.

  4. The_Buc_Realist Says:

Can’t wait until Lovie/Licht tell Mike (House Party) Williams to “stay away” from One Buc Place. But I guess that will not happen until they draft some receivers.

  5. Biff Barker Says:

It’s all fun and games till somebody hits an artery!

    ____________

So because he is an ineffective stabber, he gets low bail?

  7. John McKillop Says:

@The_Buc_Realist, I agree with you, goodbye Mike Williams. This guy has a penchant for hanging with the wrong crowd, things like this will keep happening to him. He has to realize that if he wants to have a career in the NFL he has to disassociate himself from this crowd.

  8. bucrightoff Says:

I wouldn’t say the fanbase as turned on Mike Williams so much as he’s now unreliable and difficult to trust. It’d be one thing if this were an isolated incident but this is part of a bigger patern of not being very smart. He’s got a lot of money invested in him so when you have VJax getting paid a boatload and staying down, its mostly disappointing to see Mike being involved in consistent shenanigans

  9. Brandon Says:

I wonder how Mike’s aspiring rap career with the Caveman Gang is going to be effected… could help it.

  10. Solinor Says:

Everything I read something about this I just keep remembering in Ace Ventura when Jim Carey gets a spear to the thigh in his fight with the pigmy Indian.. So funny

  11. Biff Barker Says:

MW has boned the goat. He’s done. No more excuses. He’s not a victim, he’s an idiot.
This regime does not employ fancy slogans, post rules of conduct nor hold pep rallies. It’s simple really, act like a man and you will be treated like one. You wind up in a hospital after a crime is committed and you won’t return your bosses phone calls?
    Man Child has no accountability.

  12. OB Says:

Joe if was a paring or steak knife and went straight in all it would take is three stiches. Of course it could be a sword and a small slice would only take three also.

Joe what do agents do for their money? Do they try to take care of their troops so the money keeps coming in or does it matter to them. We know his hanger-on’s don’t seem to care that he stays out of trouble so he can keep paying.

Just a thought if he was traded to Boston or Detroit, not only would they freeze but the state income tax would really hit him like a large fine every year.

  13. Westsidebucsfan Says:

That’s not very good street credit with only 3 stitches. Come on MW, you and your CMG can do better than that!

  14. coolman Says:

    Release him

  15. Nick H Says:

F**k that don’t release the guy for this, that’s nonsense

“So because he is an ineffective stabber, he gets low bail?”

Yes. And that should not surprise you. If he had killed Mike, the penalty would be higher. Badly cutting him would have been a lower penalty than murder too.

The amount of damage done is ALWAYS considered.

  17. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

If the Bucs release Mike for being a victim, it would open them up to lawsuit. Think it thru, people.

  18. Buc1987 Says:

Bonzai,…I don’t think they will come out and say. We are going to release Mike because he was a victim of being stabbed.

I think they just release him like they did Penn, Davin and everyone else. No explanation needed. No lawsuit filed. End of story.

  19. Buc Neckid Says:

    Only Three Stiches ?!?
You’d think with all of this attention they cut his leg off.
Mike Williams should tell who called 911 from his house to stay away too.

Off Season media coverage = all of this over Three Stitches

  20. Oil Derrick Brooks Says:

It could be 3 stitches. I mean, there’s no reason for his agent to minimize it, right?

  21. phil Says:

This should save Mike a lot of money. His brother probably been living off of Mike since he came into the league.

  22. Vincente Says:

What’s wrong with ya mike?? Damn son get it together! And shave that nasty stuff off your face cause your starting to look like your brother.

  23. robert6 Says:

tired of MW BS. grow up or move on.

in his defense though, what cops issues arrest warrant over 3 stitches to his brother. I would have been arrested for shit I threw at my little brother if that was the case. probably a little bit of little man syndrome by the cops beating down the playa for no other reason than to brag to his buddies.

  24. Joe Says:

Joe what do agents do for their money? Do they try to take care of their troops so the money keeps coming in or does it matter to them. We know his hanger-on’s don’t seem to care that he stays out of trouble so he can keep paying.

Really varies. Some agents go the extra mile to take care of their clients. Some even try to get them extra jobs (like NFL Network appearances, radio shows, etc.). Some also offer financial services. Others, like Drew Rosenhaus, just do contracts and the player is on his own with everything else.

At the end of the day, agents represent their clients. So whatever they say has to be taken with a grain of salt. Some agents, Joe wouldn’t trust them as far as he could throw them.

If Rip Van Freeman’s agent told Joe the sun set in the west, Joe would be convinced the sun sets in the east.

  25. PRBucFan Says:

“If the Bucs release Mike for being a victim, it would open them up to lawsuit. Think it thru, people.”

    Bingo!

    Geniuses I tell you.

    ___________

Me too, Joe. That guy represents only mediocre-at-best QBs.

  27. bucrightoff Says:

And if the Bucs released Williams and actually said the reason was he got stabbed, they would of course be one of the world’s stupidest orginazations. Its the NFL, no guaranteed contract. Just release him, thank him, and thats it. But no team ever puts the reason they cut someone out there. It’s just moronic to do so.

  28. Shane Marco Says:

Grab your torches and pitchforks, if we’re lucky maybe we can run the whole roster out of town.

  29. Joe Says:

Me too, Joe. That guy represents only mediocre-at-best QBs.

    LOL Nice dig. 🙂

  30. Shane Marco Says:

….then we can get Tebow to play all 22 starting positions, seeing as how the new prerequisite to play for the Bucs is that you have to be a choir boy.

  31. Oil Derrick Brooks Says:

“If the Bucs release Mike for being a victim, it would open them up to lawsuit. Think it thru, people.”

This isn’t civil law. There’s a collective bargaining agreement in place. They don’t have to give someone a reason to fire them, they just fire them. Now, if the player has a work related injury, they can’t just fire them (see said bargaining agreement).

  32. PRBucFan Says:

    B R O

Lol, it’s not that simple 😉

    And they aren’t that stupid.

  33. zam Says:

is a mattress in the front yard far enough away?

  34. 1bucfan88 Says:

Lawl at everyone who thinks the bucs could get sued for releasing him. Almost as idiotic as everyone calling for his head without all the facts in. If the regime deems him too much of a distraction to keep around (FWIW, I agree with that line of thinking) then that’s their prerogative at the end of the day. With the way his contract is set up, they can afford to wait until they’ve got his replacement though.

  35. Cmurda Says:

How quickly will the tide change if something to the following comes out and is reported as truth?

After Mike Williams refused to give his brother any more money knowing he would waste it on drugs, his brother erupted with anger and grabbed the closest knife he could find and stabbed Mike’s thigh.

Now, wouldn’t that completely change this situation? If not, you’re just a Mike Williams hater.

For every one calling for MW19’s head, don’t be foolish and jump to conclusions. It not only make you appear ignorant, it confirms it.

  36. PRBucFan Says:

Your an idiot of you don’t think he can’t file a grievance for wrongful discharge if he can indeed make the most marginal case that he was released due to a stabbing in which he was the victim.

    It’s pretty simple 😉

  37. PRBucFan Says:

“Bucs coach Lovie Smith says there are no plans to kick Mike Williams off the team. Says that as far as he knows, Williams was a victim”

  38. Bucsfanman Says:

Cmurda-I agree that jumping to conclusionsis foolish. If the Bucs based their decisions on what is written in this blog, Josh McCown would be throwing passes to himself! Awfully easy to cast stones from behind a computer screen, I say.
You can tell it’s the off-season…3 stitches!!! Rub some dirt on it and duct tape it, wimp!

  39. brandonbucfan Says:

$1,000!!! Heck, my bail was $1,000 for driving with a suspended license. SHEESH!

  40. Kramden Says:

I trust that Lovie evaluated what he heard from MW and is ok with MW’s account of this particular incident. This event, in and of itself, is not something that anyone else would be criticized for if it happened to them (L David, D Martin, D Dotson, etc.). They would be ONLY a victim in the eyes of the team and the posters here. However, what is now the case is that all of MW’s prior issues with law enforcement do taint his image. Right or wrong, the reality is he’s under more scrutiny because of his prior misjudgments and choices. And for that, he and he alone, is responsible. He still has a chance to make it good and be a better citizen and reliable teammate – especially under the leadership of Lovie. I hope he makes that choice and stays a Buccaneer.

  41. Ghost Says:

    What a jerk.
