Judge: Stay Away From Mike!

Mike Williams’ brother, Eric Baylor, has been ordered by a judge to stay away from Williams.
The judge handling the case of Eric Baylor, the brother of Bucs wide receiver Mike Williams, may have done the Bucs the biggest favor since former Bucs rock star general manager cut Myron Lewis.
Baylor, who is alleged to have gone all Ginsu and knifed Williams Sunday, turned himself into authorities last night and had to stand in front of a judge this morning for a bail hearing.
Baylor, who is charged with aggravated battery domestic violence, a felony, got more good news when the judge slapped him with a $1,000 bond (which is virtually nothing). More importantly, which is common when someone is accused of attacking another person, Baylor was ordered to stay away from Williams, per Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times.

This is the best news Williams has had since he moved to the house he got knifed in. From what Joe has heard, one problem associated with Williams and why fans have turned on him as if he was Richard Speck can be linked to family members. And then a family member — Baylor, allegedly — decides to jam a kitchen blade into Williams’ thigh.
The best thing for Williams, and the Bucs, has been the court order for Baylor to stay away.

@The_Buc_Realist, I agree with you, goodbye Mike Williams. This guy has a penchant for hanging with the wrong crowd, things like this will keep happening to him. He has to realize that if he wants to have a career in the NFL he has to disassociate himself from this crowd.

I wouldn’t say the fanbase as turned on Mike Williams so much as he’s now unreliable and difficult to trust. It’d be one thing if this were an isolated incident but this is part of a bigger patern of not being very smart. He’s got a lot of money invested in him so when you have VJax getting paid a boatload and staying down, its mostly disappointing to see Mike being involved in consistent shenanigans

Joe if was a paring or steak knife and went straight in all it would take is three stiches. Of course it could be a sword and a small slice would only take three also.
Joe what do agents do for their money? Do they try to take care of their troops so the money keeps coming in or does it matter to them. We know his hanger-on’s don’t seem to care that he stays out of trouble so he can keep paying.
Just a thought if he was traded to Boston or Detroit, not only would they freeze but the state income tax would really hit him like a large fine every year.

Yes. And that should not surprise you. If he had killed Mike, the penalty would be higher. Badly cutting him would have been a lower penalty than murder too.
The amount of damage done is ALWAYS considered.

Really varies. Some agents go the extra mile to take care of their clients. Some even try to get them extra jobs (like NFL Network appearances, radio shows, etc.). Some also offer financial services. Others, like Drew Rosenhaus, just do contracts and the player is on his own with everything else.
At the end of the day, agents represent their clients. So whatever they say has to be taken with a grain of salt. Some agents, Joe wouldn’t trust them as far as he could throw them.
If Rip Van Freeman’s agent told Joe the sun set in the west, Joe would be convinced the sun sets in the east.

And if the Bucs released Williams and actually said the reason was he got stabbed, they would of course be one of the world’s stupidest orginazations. Its the NFL, no guaranteed contract. Just release him, thank him, and thats it. But no team ever puts the reason they cut someone out there. It’s just moronic to do so.

This isn’t civil law. There’s a collective bargaining agreement in place. They don’t have to give someone a reason to fire them, they just fire them. Now, if the player has a work related injury, they can’t just fire them (see said bargaining agreement).

Lawl at everyone who thinks the bucs could get sued for releasing him. Almost as idiotic as everyone calling for his head without all the facts in. If the regime deems him too much of a distraction to keep around (FWIW, I agree with that line of thinking) then that’s their prerogative at the end of the day. With the way his contract is set up, they can afford to wait until they’ve got his replacement though.

After Mike Williams refused to give his brother any more money knowing he would waste it on drugs, his brother erupted with anger and grabbed the closest knife he could find and stabbed Mike’s thigh.
Now, wouldn’t that completely change this situation? If not, you’re just a Mike Williams hater.

I trust that Lovie evaluated what he heard from MW and is ok with MW’s account of this particular incident. This event, in and of itself, is not something that anyone else would be criticized for if it happened to them (L David, D Martin, D Dotson, etc.). They would be ONLY a victim in the eyes of the team and the posters here. However, what is now the case is that all of MW’s prior issues with law enforcement do taint his image. Right or wrong, the reality is he’s under more scrutiny because of his prior misjudgments and choices. And for that, he and he alone, is responsible. He still has a chance to make it good and be a better citizen and reliable teammate – especially under the leadership of Lovie. I hope he makes that choice and stays a Buccaneer.
