Eric Page Re-Ups With Bucs

The Bucs appeared to address their kick/punt returner issues this afternoon if Instagram is to be believed. At least, Eric Page’s Instagram account.
Per Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times, third-year pro Eric Page has inked a deal to remain with the Bucs.
@gregauman: Bucs WR/returner Eric Page posts on Instagram that he’s signed a 1-year contract to stay in Tampa. Was an exclusive-rights free agent.
It is a good thing the Bucs have, at worst, solidified their return game by keeping Page. He had above-average stats last season among his fellow full-time returners. Also, it effectively was Page’s rookie season, as he blew out his ACL in August 2012 with the Broncos. Page made rookie mistakes but flashed plenty of talent and is only 22 years old.
But with Dexter McCluster still (reportedly) out there and so too Devin Hester (reportedly), Joe doesn’t think the Bucs are finished shopping for another return man.

I like Eric’s skill set and abilility… Maybe the light comes on upstairs for him and blossoms, but I don’t see that happening.

Can someone tell me why we need McCluster, especially since he won’t come cheap? We have 3 RBs, we can find a number of guys in rounds 5-7 who can run routes only out of the slot, and they’ll cost a lot less….we have Demps who is faster…what am I missing here?

He’s OK with punts. But he is a bad kick returner. Fumbles, and frequently misjudges blocks and fails to make it past the 20 after bringing it out of the endzone. Bring on Dexter.

We do not “have” demps. We have the rights to him. Track has Demps. Besides, he sucks on the field.
And we are not going after McCluster as a RB. He would be on returns. Page is a backup plan.

He is not a good player. That’s why we signed him. Can’t wait until we sign a 35 year old injured corner. Is Ronde still able to play

McCluster is going to cost $5 million a year or so, possibly more. That is a ton for a guy to return kicks, especially when Page averaged only 1 less yard a PR and returns kicks (McCluster does not). Would be a luxury signing for a team nowhere close to winning anything. Unnecessary spending right there.

I am so frustrated with these guys today. Talking about trading Revis. Letting the Titans sign McCluster, seriously ????? The kids home is largo. And we re-sign Eric Page as our returner. Nothing against him but he is not even in the same league as McCluster. I don’t have any idea what they are trying to do with all this. Hopefully they do. I don’t want to think of Revis next year like we are thinking of Bennett now. The one that got away…..

Yeah, great idea to overpay for McCluster… that dude is making $4 million a season!!! Titans seriously overpaid for a guy that will never be more than a situational/part-time player… and because he’s from Largo we should overpay him?
Page was signed to his exclusive rights tender, probably something in the neighborhood of $750,000, none of which is guaranteed. How can one possibly think that was a bad deal?
