Revis’ Last Interview
March 11th, 2014Was this Darrelle Revis’ last interview as a prideful member of the Buccaneers?
Maybe. In case you missed it, you can check it out below. Joe caught up with Revis in Hawaii at the Pro Bowl.

Joe, is St. Louis’ #2 pick worth Revis + #7?
Joe would do it if it meant a Johnny Football pick, but it won’t, not now, and St. Louis wouldn’t do it now anyway. –Joe

Lets look at it this way, if the bucs have enough money to spend in free agency, Then why cut Revis? Is Revis more valuable than recouping a 3rd round pick. I think so. Good luck bucs in figuring out this mess. Miss you Dom.

It’s worth getting rid of him to get rid of that stupid, horrible contract. He’s making elite QB money, good defenses are built from the defensive line on back, not from the secondary on forward. Giants won two Super Bowls without a DB of note… but their pass rush was excellent. Great football minds know Revis and his terrible contract, plus giving up premium picks for that contract, are insane. Schiano and Dominik are insane for making the deal to begin with… DUNCES!!

What can the Bucs get with the $16 mil cap relief? They could probably pay $10 mil of Michael Johnson’s salary, plus pick up Dexter McCluster ($2-2.5 mil) and possibly a good chunk of Peanut Tillman’s salary ($4-6 mil).

@ Brandon
I understand, and I agree. The fact is we need an elite passer rusher and/or elite o lineman, and if Revis’ contracts get in the way of that, then something needs to be done. But if not, then we should hold off on any rash decisions, like cutting him for nothing. imo I would start looking at Goldson’s contract first. Also agreed on the dunces observation, just be clear my last comment was sarcasm lol.

Still… it looks like one way or another, something is going to be done about Revis’ contract. The only problem Revis doesnt strike me as the kind of player who will restructure willingly. That could end up screwing us in terms of compensation. for now, I’ll be patient and have faith in our new regime.

I’m really hoping this is all to restructure his contract, the bucs with a healthy lowered salary revis is better than without revis especially with what we have waiting to “step up”. As joe has said we know what we have with revis, we don’t know how any other player will play when coming here. If love really is serious about emptying the bucs vault then we can still keep revis at a reduced cost (but still will be the highest paid corner) and sign plenty of players.

I think getting Revis means one thing. LS and Licht were not hired to win a Superbowl right away. At least that’s not the priority. I read into this as a sign into bringing stability to TB (one thing he brought to Chicago after the Jauron irregular era), in order to catch up with Atlanta, NO an Carolina. People keep regardIng Smith as the best thing next to the impossible hiring of T Dungy, but maybe, and I hope I’m right, the Glazers hired him for more reasons than pleasing fans, and his vision of a constantly contending franchise should be one. Revis has to sacrifice expensive contract and buy into this new ideals to part from the Schiano-Morris fiasco eras, actually from most eras. To Smith having Revis on board will shorten the path to a Vince Lombardi trophy, but not having him won’t stop the bucs in his vision of how they get there and stay there.

Well if this is going to be another 2009 season, Im not buying season tickets. That’s for sure. Im not spending money watching college players and old-timers while we go 0-6 in the division. We’ve been doing that for 5 years. If that’s what we are doing by blowing it all up again, it speaks of gross incompetence by the Glazers and we really have become the Browns.
