Sweeping Changes Could Be Coming
March 5th, 2014Joe just shakes his head about the Bucs’ defensive. Poor Gerald McCoy. The dude gets no help from his teammates. If the Bucs had any kind of pressure from the edge, imagine how fearsome GMC would actually be.
Bucs coach Lovie Smith is nearly as nauseous as Joe is about the lack of an edge rush. Lovie believes if he can’t get pressure on the quarterback, then the defense will never live up to its hype.
Earlier this week, Rick Stroud and Tom Jones of WDAE-AM 620 discussed the weaknesses of both the defensive line and the offensive line. Stroud quoted Lovie saying, “If you can’t rush the passer, you can’t play in this defense.” Stroud also believes the Bucs will be heavy players in free agency, which begins Tuesday at 4 p.m.

I’m predicting right now Jared Allen will be a Buc by Friday of next week.

Hope they at least try to go after Monroe, Charlie Johnson, Jared Allen, Andre Roberts and Corey Webster. These guys fit the scheme and hits on all of our needs. Then draft MACK

Brace yourselves …. double digit sacks are upon us!!! And the full unleashment of G…M…C!!!

Can’t wait for the Bucs defense to be in the top of the league again. I trust that Lovie will get that done. Then an average offense can make us contenders again. Getting pumped for the new season. Let’s get ready to rumble.

I keep hearing about these “sweeping changes” and the gutting of the offensive and defensive lines….and yet free agency starts in less than six days and we’ve cut nobody. Most teams have already shed the dead weight that they needed to unload…Would we really wait to see how free agency pans out and then start cutting guys loose after their best chance at a new contract has passed?

Clowney was born to play in this Defense.

I think they shoud look at brining in J. Allen, and Corey Wootton
also go “Like” the facebook page Mike Glennon Fans and let’s get glennon nation going

As awful as it may sound, I would be down for trading Revis Island. This draft is deep, and if Lovie wants to build from the front 7, than what better of an opportunity. Also 5 picks isn’t enough in this deep of draft.

Allen is probably going to take Bennett’s spot in Seattle he came out today and said he wants a legit shot at winning a Super Bowl.. Some team is going to over pay for Bennett this year(Raiders)..

@Danati74 We have the best corner back in the game right now. Rated #1 by pro football focus, we have plenty of cap room, it takes years to develop the corner back position, and most importantly HE IS NOW 100% healthy. Not to mention, teaching the young buc Banks how to play the position. We traded a first rounder, a third rounder last year. Lovie has said he is not going to playing zone nearly as much as people think. I do not understand this trade Revis talk. It is complete stupidity. Get guys who can get to the QB and watch the defense be taken to the next level. DO NOT TRADE REVIS

Speaking of sweeping changes, Cannot wait until Licht take a broom to this mediocre roster.
Trade Revis to stock up on draft picks! If you don’t start rebuilding now, it will just take that much longer to put a competitive team on the football field

@Realist…I agree 100%.

@ Mazz:
Revis is def a plus and he is not on the wrong side of 30 yet. He says he is 100 percent and we will prob keep him. I am however open to trading him. The Jets did it because they were rebuilding. Lovie says we are not rebuilding, but our roster is said to change dramatically. I was one not to want to trade those picks for him. Now we wish we had those draft picks back. Most teams are said to build from the front 7 back, not the other way around. Thanks for your input.

Sweeping changes are needed.
This collection of players has proven to be unsuccessful, to say the least.
Dom’s dream of this team has turned out to be a nightmare. Bad talent, no depth, bad discipline.
The new team must feel like they are searching for gems in a cow pie.
Good luck fellas.

Bobby Rainy signed a two year deal!!!

They need to be, and probably are, treating McCoy like the old regime tried to treat Freeman with all their lip service about surrounding him with talent. Get some DE’s around this guy and he will be King Kong on the field. Unstoppable.

sweeping changes….heard tom jones on the radio, he is alway whining and crying like a baby or a fan not like a sports writer….if lovie smith said in his press conference he likes some of the pieces already in place and thinks we can win now, why would you make MAJOR sweeping changes to this roster that was coached under two coaches that knew nothing about head coaching in the nfl. lovie believes in his ability to coach so why not predict that we add key veterans and use what we have as depth. we can afford to get rid of anyone on the defensive line because last years starters would be the depth we need if we got d ends in free agency. the o line didnt play well but the way glennon bailed out of the pocket early alot of times also contributed to the number of sacks but bobby rainey or mike james dont have the seasons they had without the o line doing what they did for them so to me its silly to get rid of donald penn to get another guy thats gonna cost just as much, franchise left tackles dont show up in free agency, they get locked up so im not sure getting rid of a leader is a smart idea, but money is more revelant to donald penn and other lineman than say revis….if you can pay them pay them. goldson isnt worth what he makes, neither is revis but i think that revis trade value goes up higher during the season so its silly to let that guy go with a win now team

need sweeping changes to this mediocre fanbase.

“Sweeping changes”??
Guess this team is so bad, Lovie is replacing the Janitors!!
March 6th, 2014 at 1:33 am
Trade our best player for unproven college players, glad you guys don’t run things around here. How about just trading down to get more draft picks since this draft is so deep.
March 6th, 2014 at 9:31 am
Thank you @Shane Marco. These are the same people who were begging for a good corner when we were 20 something yards away from having the worst pass defense statistically of all time. Now we get the best CB in the game, who is now 100% healthy and people want him traded. Typical. We have the cap room to make changes with out trading the best corner in the game (not to mention the cap room coming from cuts) and still have the draft picks to get instant playmakers. When you do sweeping changes how about we focus on the players that are not elite and do not help us win. Not the guy who by himself can take away one side of the field.
