David Jilting Appears Complete
January 20th, 2014If Derrick Brooks making the 2008 Pro Bowl and then quickly getting cut by the Bucs wasn’t enough proof that the game is a fraud, then Lavonte David getting denied his first taste of pineapple this season should have you convinced.
It seemed David’s only hope of getting his rightful place in Hawaii was if the 49ers got back to the Super Bowl.
In that case, Ahmad Brooks, the Niners outside linebacker, would have had to skip Sunday’s Pro Bowl and David might have gotten a shot as an alternate. But that didn’t happen. And it seems the other five outside linebackers chosen for the game within the Pro Bowl’s new format will all attend.
David’s jilting appears complete.
This all seems to fit nicely as the final chapter of a lost 2013 Bucs season, one that made no sense from the start of last offseason, when the New Schiano Order saw no use for its best pass rusher and run stuffer, who is now going to the Super Bowl.
Here’s your list of Pro Bowl outside linebackers: Feel free to vomit.
Tamba Hali, Chiefs
Robert Mathis, Colts
Terrell Suggs, Ravens
Justin Houston, Chiefs
Ahmad Brooks, 49ers
John Abraham, Cardinals

This is the last time he will be denied, Lovie brings attention and respectability from around the league

They are basically playing DE with the OLB name.
January 20th, 2014 at 10:11 am
That is pathetic.

In a lot of ways the game is a huge fraud.
1.) The league has favorite teams that it wants to see
in the playoffs.
2.) The media (except for rogues like Joe) has favorite
teams that it wants to see in the playoffs.
3.) Money and revenue drive the whole process
4.) They (the league and their media) are less than
forthcoming about their true agendas (see 1-3)
5.) Refs appear to affect the outcome of close games
(see 2013 NFC Championship game last night)
But still…all that said, the game is still pretty awesome.
David has the small market blues.
Go Buccys!

Yeah well I think AP 1st team all pro was a better honor.
Btw Revis making pro bowl was a fraud. Wasn’t even 2nd team all pro. Sucks.

mpmalloy…I could be wrong but I think Joe was talking about the Pro Bowl game being a fraud, not the NFL as a whole.

David got screwed fir sure. That hit that cost us the Jets game is what those idiots choose to remember. I forgave him, why can’t they. Go Bucs!
January 20th, 2014 at 10:39 am
Maybe LVD will play with a chip next year (as if he needs one)
I don’t know how he could have played any better…what a shame!!!
January 20th, 2014 at 10:51 am
David is being robbed because he’s on a losing team and he’s not a big name like Revis. Plain and simple.
January 20th, 2014 at 10:53 am
He will get his due- stay the course Lavonte and your reign will be greater and longer than some of these guys!
January 20th, 2014 at 11:10 am
Its a shame. The pro bowl is a joke anyway. The league is trying anything to make it interesting for fans. Aside from a vacation to Hawaii David, and every other snub, its not even a real contest. Just my opinion.
Side note here: After Bennett’s domination yesterday, does anyone think Seattle will let him walk? Its going to be crazy expensive if they do. Will he be worth a mega deal?

David was jilted because of the league wide disrespect for Schiano. When Schiano decided to crash the victory formation it pissed off a lot of people from owners on down to media personalities. That one move by Schiano at the beginning of his tenure upset a lot of people, especially when Schiano wouldn’t get on bended knee and ask for forgiveness. That one move alone secretly blackballed the Bucs and spelled the beginning of the end. Schiano never recovered from the bad publicity. In fact it got worse as the media put him under a microscope and wrote less than endorsing articles there after.

Am I the only one who doesnt care if LVD gets to go to the Pro Bowl? I rather him stay out so he doesn’t get hurt in a pointless game.
January 20th, 2014 at 12:19 pm
They’re all DEnds. Except for Brooks. Jeeze NFL. Get your positions right. Rush LB is not an outside LB
January 20th, 2014 at 12:25 pm
I do not get your point Joe. The fans have an opportunity to vote for their favorite players. A 4-12 record does not get you a lot of votes.
Fans are only 1/3 of the vote. And David did well in the fan voting. –Joe

Mathis is an olb? That’s like saying Bill Sheridan is a competent coordinator.
January 20th, 2014 at 12:51 pm
Bucs are 4-12. That’s why LVD is not in. No fault of his own, but that’s just how the popularity contest Pro Bowl works.

Looking at the bright side, he was picked by the press as an all pro and he can’t get hurt watching the game unless he get so excited that he hurts himself, but I would not want to be on the other team next year and play against him. With what I believe are pros on defense for a change coaching, he will be even better because of the coaching and the upgrade in those playing around him.
January 20th, 2014 at 4:11 pm
Team record has very little to do with it…Browns were 4-12 and have 5 pro bowlers. Chiefs won one game last year and had like 6 or 7 pro bowlers. The problem is that they allow 3-4 DE’s to take up actual linebacker spots.
January 20th, 2014 at 4:59 pm
He got the much greater honor in the All Pro vote, which most people recognize is a much greater honor to the point that they laughed at how it was possible for him to make 1st team All Pro yet not make the pro bowl lol.
Lavonte got the last laugh 😉
January 20th, 2014 at 7:55 pm
Maybe now with bowman been hurt they will replace him with David even thought one plays middle the other one plays olb
January 20th, 2014 at 7:57 pm
If these guys are getting to the poo bowl as LB’s playing DE, then Jimmy Graham, Vernon Davis, and Julian Thomas (All TE’s) should be going to the poo bowl as WRs. SMDH
January 21st, 2014 at 12:53 pm
for about a decade bucs fans got to watch mike allstot go to the pro bowl with the generous designation of “fullback”. now we are watching our Elite LB get frozen out of the pro bowl by a bunch of out-of-position DEs.
