“I Talked To Aaron Rodgers”

Lovie Smith shared intimate time with media after his One Buc Palace news conference today, and Lovie stressed his time off last year was very much about research.
One thing Lovie researched was finding his next offensive coordinator.
Lovie said, “I talked to Aaron Rodgers,” among others, to get a thumbs-up on new Bucs offensive coordinator Jeff Tedford, who coached Rodgers in college.
Lovie insisted to Joe that Tedford’s lack of NFL experience is a non-issue.
The new Bucs commander went on to say his research wasn’t just about offense. He spent time analyzing every aspect of his coaching, from training camp to practices and more.

I am very happy with Lovie as the new coach. I am even happier to see that he did his homework and would expect nothing less from a man of his character. I think we are playoff bound as soon as next year. Go Bucs!

Sounds to me like Lovie really knows his offense is what doomed his time in Chicago. I really hope he is right with his OC hire.

We all learn from our mistakes and I am sure he saw, in addition to losing his former job, that it is much more fun to win 47 – 10, then 12 – 10.

No experience has to be a little bit of an issue but not all that much. Like someone stated before, everyone had to start from scratch at some point.

I hate it that Rodgers plays with his mustache every other week or so.
OT, well of course he will be giving him a thumbs up. He did coach him to NFL draft level. If his schemes are better than Sully then that’s a plus, if he can develop Glennon or any other QB then that’s a plus, if he can…well just do anything better than Sully.
The old staff was fired for being bad, Tedford does not have a bad history nor a credible one, so he will have to improve our Offense in order to say he’s an improvement.

Yea that’s not surprising.
Aaron was very upset after Jeff Tedford was fire from Cal and here are some quotes from him about it.
“It’s a terrible decision, terrible decision. And I think it’s disrespectful, too,” Rodgers said on his weekly radio show on WAUK-AM. Rodgers was particularly unhappy that Tedford only was given one season to lead the program after the school completed a long-promised upgrade to its athletic facilities.”
“Coach Tedford endured some pretty difficult situations down there while his competitors — Oregon, Washington, Arizona schools — continued to improve their facilities,” he said. “Now, you get some facilities in there, you get a new stadium, you get an awesome new top deck over there that can overlook the (San Francisco) Bay, you get a 100-yard weight room. You have some competitive facilities now where you can really recruit some kids. And what do they do? They fire him. The winningest coach in history. It’s just a shame.”
Here’s a quote about whether Tedford could succeed in the NFL.
“I see Coach, regardless, landing on his feet,” Rodgers said. “If he wants to challenge himself and take his game to the NFL level and look to eventually become a head coach, that’s easily within his talent level. If he wants to stay in college, then any university that hires him is going to get a hell of a guy and a great coach.”

It was very nice to read that Lovie took the year off to reevaluate his whole coaching approach. Hopefully by doing so he will eliminate the knock about not being able to develop an effective offense. With the division we’re in we will need both an effective offense and defense to be competitive.
