Greg Schiano Reacts
December 30th, 2013The defrocked leader of the New Schiano Order held his own news conference this afternoon at a Tampa hotel and gave a classy performance. Essentially, Schiano spent 20+ minutes thanking people and not saying much.
Joe asked him about whether he wanted to coach in the NFL again, or whether Sunday’s game cost Schiano his job, but Schiano wasn’t answering the juicy stuff. Schiano was asked what two “pieces” he was referring to when he said the Bucs defense is two pieces from being dominant, but Schiano wouldn’t go there.

Say what you will about Schiano’s coaching ability at the NFL level…but you can’t deny that he built a team of high character going forward. The new coach will inherit a good group of players….many of them very young and in the early stages of their career development unlike the siituation he came into.
I hope coach Schiano is quickly hired and is able to continue the work that he loves.
I know many thing that the last two years have been wasted and that we squandered an opportunity to win…but being a Buc fan since the beginning…I can assure you that the next coach has a great opportunity because of the work that was done here.

Schiano is a tough stubborn nut to crack. Not a fan of new jerseyites, I agree he has helped the team.

I give him credit for showing humility and class. I really hope he lands in Happy Valley….it’s a good fit for both parties involved.

No longer have hard feelings towards him, Good Luck on whatever journey you have next Coach. Thanks for making the team better, it just wasn’t good enough.

The Glazers have to pay 9 million to close out Schiano’s contract. That’s 5 million to Freeman and 9 million to Schiano. All thanks to Dom. Schiano is getting PAID either way.

This was nothing more than a sales pitch to his next employer.

But really schiano and dom did build a good roster. It has its holes but thats to be expected from a 4-12 team. Its a start though. If greg was just as good of a coach as he was a talent evaluator he probably would have got to finish out his contracf and more. But he was just a bad nfl coach. All he knew was small college school football, and that just doesnt work up in the nfl. Maybe one day he will learn from this experience, and improve but he wasnt ready yet.

As for Greg’s assertion that his successor will inherit a good situation:
Delusion (definition): “a false, persistent belief maintained in spite of evidence to the contrary.”
Might be humorous if it weren’t so sad.
