“We Have Our Quarterback”
December 30th, 2013Twittering from One Buc Palace, Tampa Bay Times beat writer shared a conversation he had with Tiquan Underwood and Mike Williams.
It will soothe the Mike Glennon Mob but drive the rest of the Bucs fan base insane.
@NFLStroud – In Bucs team meeting, Greg Schiano said “we have our quarterback,” according to Mike Williams and Tiquan Underwood.
Joe is speechless. No competition for the man leading the NFL’s worst-ranked offense?
December 30th, 2013 at 12:25 pm
This is absolutely infuriating!
December 30th, 2013 at 12:26 pm
Just garbage
December 30th, 2013 at 12:27 pm
Fire this fool already Frazier led the vikings to the playoffs at least one year and he’s gettingfired chuck is in his first year and got fired people want to see production come on glazerz don’t do this to us we pay to much money to not have a winner
December 30th, 2013 at 12:31 pm
If that doesn’t scream agenda I don’t kno what does. Obviously the QB of the worst ranked offense gives us the best chance to win while the QB of the 9th ranked offense needs competition. ..practice what u preach loser. It screams schiano has an agenda to prove his way is better not continue to help the team grow he just want his decisions to look valid when they clearly aren’t bullshit foreal foreal. I want a coach with our teams best interest n his mind not trying to make himself look good.
December 30th, 2013 at 12:33 pm
I don’t know that the Bucs have ever had a franchise quarterback. Most QBs that Tampa gets win superbowls once they leave (Williams, Young, Dilfer).
Based on yesterday’s performance as well as the 13 games he played, Glennon is not the answer for starting QB. Good enough in a pinch but not dynamic enough to get the job done especially with Brees, Ryan, and Cam.
I love what Dominik has done, but if he doesn’t step in with Schiano on this one, he deserves to be let go. I hope Schiano takes the PSU job, and Dominik stays.
December 30th, 2013 at 12:33 pm
I fully expect for Greg Schiano to be back, but I don’t expect much to change. I’m no psychologist and I certainly cannot predict the future, but I have my opinions and no hesitancy to share them. You would think that 2013 was a year of learning for everybody, especially Schiano. I don’t see it that way.
My take on Schiano is that he believes, by divine inspiration, that what he is doing is right. Everybody else just doesn’t get it. And in time we will all see that he was right. The unwavering belief that Mike Glennon is a franchise QB, the stunting defensive schemes, the run first offense, the rigid environment for player development, the unconventional approach to accepted NFL practices like the victory formation and halftime adjustments will all one day be viewed as Lombardian genius.
There will be lip service but no consequential change and he will not accept an independent OC or DC. He will not hire any player or coach that he cannot control. He is going to show Tampa Bay and the world that his way works. It will just take time for everybody else to get on board!
December 30th, 2013 at 12:34 pm
this is what i dont like about him. refusing to adjust or change. maybe he is hoping to get fired so he can get paid to coach penn state.
December 30th, 2013 at 12:35 pm
The fans deserve better than this
December 30th, 2013 at 12:38 pm
“we pay to much money to not have a winner”
It’s pretty much a fact that there have to be Teams with non-winning records every year. Fans of all teams pay a lot for their tickets. Lastly, the Glazers don’t care how much the fans pay, since they make a profit, even with a totally empty stadium. So why would you think this statment would have any effect on anyone?
December 30th, 2013 at 12:39 pm
It’s official then, I’m finding something else to do on Sundays next year. I refuse to watch another Bucs game until Schiano is gone.
December 30th, 2013 at 12:39 pm
If Schiano stays I really REALLY question what happened with Raheem Morris. Glennon SUCKS. That Schiano and more importantly, the Glazers think this crappy offense is worth keeping over ANY of the previous coaches makes me question A LOT of things about this organization.
December 30th, 2013 at 12:41 pm
Why do we keep this garbage around – I guess in a sick twisted way it’s entertaining! But there is no way the most unproductive and unacceptable offense in the league can say we “have”. This offense does NOT have and does not have the ability to say what’s good and bad.
When you’re this bad you should be considered incapable.
December 30th, 2013 at 12:41 pm
Just heard on 620 WDAE that Jay Glazer is reporting both Dom and Schiano are fired. Joe….any insight?
December 30th, 2013 at 12:42 pm
I read that him and Dom got fired?
December 30th, 2013 at 12:43 pm
They just fired him thank god
December 30th, 2013 at 12:44 pm
Joe’s just stoking all the fires…He wants Johnny…
What do you expect Schiano to say “We’ll be drafting a QB with our pick”….
Remember the last time he said “We have our QB (starter)…..kiss of death”
I suspect we will see a significant upgrade from Dan O….
December 30th, 2013 at 12:44 pm
As others here are stating, Schiano’s refusal to change course (much like the Titanic) are the reason most fans want him gone. To say right now that “we have our quarterback” when we have the 7th pick in the draft and plenty of cap room shows me Schiano really doesn’t want much from his offense. Kind of reminds me of when he had the best defense in the league and the offense was expected to just not screw up. Well we don’t have the best defense in the league and quarterbacks are throwing for 30 and 40 touchdowns and thousands of yards. Please fire Schiano and bring us Johnny Manziel!!!!!!
December 30th, 2013 at 12:44 pm
Dominik and Schiano gone!!!!!
Prayers are answered!!!!
December 30th, 2013 at 12:45 pm
Macabee is 100% right
December 30th, 2013 at 12:45 pm
Oh my god! I’ve never been so happy to be wrong in my life!
December 30th, 2013 at 12:45 pm
They both got fired
December 30th, 2013 at 12:45 pm
SCHIANO AND DOMINICK is gone per Ian Rapoport
December 30th, 2013 at 12:45 pm
Thats only until greg gets fired later fellas, relax.
December 30th, 2013 at 12:46 pm
Schiano & dominik are gone
December 30th, 2013 at 12:46 pm
Sorry Glennon. This doesn’t bode well for you anymore.
December 30th, 2013 at 12:46 pm
Well …
https://twitter.com/JayGlazer/status/417696310460817408
It’s going to be interesting.
December 30th, 2013 at 12:47 pm
Perhaps we have ‘our qb’ but the Bucs do NOT have qualified head coach!
December 30th, 2013 at 12:48 pm
Dont tease us! Please be so…
December 30th, 2013 at 12:48 pm
JOE Must be typing fast. Schiano and Dom fired….>!~

December 30th, 2013 at 12:49 pm
Let the new regime search begin!!!!
December 30th, 2013 at 12:49 pm
We’re not reporting it yet, but Fox and NFL network are, so I suppose it’s happened…
December 30th, 2013 at 12:50 pm
So … the news is out … New Order and Rockstar are gone … Who do we want to run this team?
Who’s a better available GM?
Jay Gruden as HC?
Jon Gruden as HC, Jay as OC? Derrick Brooks as GM?
I’m only being half-facetious here, but I haven’t heard anyone say ‘Man, I wish we had ________ as our GM”, or “I hope they hire _______ as the new head coach”, with either blank filled by the name of someone genuinely exciting.
The ONLY thing I feel is certain in any of this is that the Bucs need to get a QB worth building around in the upcoming draft. His assertion that they have their QB was a good coffin-nail.
December 30th, 2013 at 12:50 pm
They’re gone don’t matter now. lovie lovie lovie lovie!
December 30th, 2013 at 12:51 pm
@Mord DB for GM!
December 30th, 2013 at 12:52 pm
I will buy tickets next year!
Yes,Yes,Yes,Yes,Yes,Yes,Yes,Yes!
December 30th, 2013 at 12:52 pm
There is hope afterall!!!
December 30th, 2013 at 12:52 pm
IT’S OFFICIAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thankfully the Glazers didn’t waste time making a decision.
December 30th, 2013 at 12:53 pm
Well Schiano has been fired. Might as well spend this draft on the lines, tank next year and get Jameis for 2015 forward.
December 30th, 2013 at 12:53 pm
God, please not Lovie.
December 30th, 2013 at 12:54 pm
Sorry Glennon. This doesn’t bode well for you anymore.
————————————-
Agreed and I feel bad for the guy but this was badly needed.
December 30th, 2013 at 12:55 pm
For first halves maybe, but games are 60 minutes long.
December 30th, 2013 at 12:55 pm
on the bucs website….either fully official or someone is getting fired from the website team
December 30th, 2013 at 12:55 pm
best present I received all year!! I really hope these moves are experienced NFL guys at least succesful coordinators. I think the Glazers may have an idea right now whom they may want. I can’t believe they will make the mistakes they have for the last couple of coaching hires.
December 30th, 2013 at 12:55 pm
Ding dong the regime is dead. Sorry about your fave GM, joe.
IT’S CHAMPAGNE TIME
December 30th, 2013 at 12:55 pm
Sweeeeeeet!!! Thank you Santa and Ian Rappaport!!!! There is a god!!
December 30th, 2013 at 12:56 pm
We first have to find a coach and gm since they both just got canned
December 30th, 2013 at 12:56 pm
Joe must be doing backflips about Johnny football now….. Glennon, see that bench buddy, go make friends….
December 30th, 2013 at 12:56 pm
“But we no longer have a coach and GM”
December 30th, 2013 at 12:57 pm
Charlie Strong.
December 30th, 2013 at 12:57 pm
Walk the plank Greg and Mark! Finally! Broke out in spontaneous dancing when first heard the news on 620.
December 30th, 2013 at 12:57 pm
This means nothing if they can’t get someone better. But I guess there is more hope now.
December 30th, 2013 at 12:58 pm
Thats probably one of the reasons why he was FIRED.
December 30th, 2013 at 12:59 pm
GONE!! Both needed to go. Lets get this righted and fast!! Bye Glennon you just couldn’t cut it either!
December 30th, 2013 at 12:59 pm
I’m just pumped I don’t have to read somebody being called a “Rockstar” when they were the furthest thing from it.
December 30th, 2013 at 12:59 pm
if nothing else at least all the negativity will cease… until next season starts anyways.
December 30th, 2013 at 1:00 pm
I hope we hire the offensive coor. from the niners.
December 30th, 2013 at 1:00 pm
Thankfully – the man that trashed this team – is gone.
Somewhere, Josh Freeman is smiling.
December 30th, 2013 at 1:01 pm
Thank You Glazers! Now please, no more college coaches
December 30th, 2013 at 1:01 pm
hey joe where is the post that your rock star is fired? Still crying?
December 30th, 2013 at 1:01 pm
@Joe – Bad day to get sick man. Tuck and roll brother
December 30th, 2013 at 1:01 pm
Breaking News. The Rock Star is GONE and so is Schiano!
December 30th, 2013 at 1:01 pm
Mike singletary as hc with love smith as d coordinator and rich Eisen as gm lol
December 30th, 2013 at 1:01 pm
Thank you Jesus they fired this bum Schiano. I don’t think that DOM should have gotten the axe he has gotten us a lot of talent. But, DOM hired this bum so I guess it was his tied to Schiano’s! Let’s go Dungy and Lovie!!!!
December 30th, 2013 at 1:02 pm
I’m just glad they got rid of Freeman, K2, Talib and Blount before being fired because those players needed to go too. Now the purge is complete. Let’s see what the next two weeks brings.
December 30th, 2013 at 1:02 pm
He’s not the guy now! Bye schiano
December 30th, 2013 at 1:03 pm
Hello Jay Gruden!! Hmmm, who knows?
December 30th, 2013 at 1:03 pm
Mike Glennon wasn’t the problem for the offense being last in the NFL. The terrible play of the O-Line that couldn’t open any running lanes or pass protect was and it didn’t help that with the exception of Tim Wright and Vincent Jackson that Glennon had no one to throw to. Glennon had a good season for a rookie and deserves a full season as a starter with an actual supporting cast and if he doesn’t do good next year the Bucs can draft Jameis Winston. I really believe Glennon can have a good season next year with having Doug Martin back along with Mike Williams and the emergence of Tim Wright. If the Bucs could just fix the O-Line and get a slot WR the offense could be pretty good.
December 30th, 2013 at 1:04 pm
Schiano method obviously didn’t bode well at the pro level.. Good luck to him. Nothing personal
December 30th, 2013 at 1:04 pm
Goodbye Couch Fan,
My work is done. Never to post on JBF again. My apologies to anybody I offended in the process. No more venom, happy day ahead. Goodbye and Go Bucs!
Joe, I am going to clear cookies. Remove all vestiges of Splengo from JBF. Good blog, just no place for me anymore!
December 30th, 2013 at 1:04 pm
Never posted but I thought I’d like to say, thank god Schiano and Dominik are fired!!! Let’s go Manziel! He’s been the most exciting player to watch in college football and watching Glennon makes me want to take a nap lol
December 30th, 2013 at 1:05 pm
No update fom Joe yet??? Quick, someone get the smelling salts as Joe must be passed out somewhere!
December 30th, 2013 at 1:05 pm
Love the jay Gruden Idea.
December 30th, 2013 at 1:05 pm
Bring back Rich McKay!
December 30th, 2013 at 1:06 pm
SCHIANO IS FIRED!!!
BRING IN LOVIE!!!!!!
December 30th, 2013 at 1:06 pm
I can honestly say I have never type the name Rock star until right now. The rock star is officially WASHED UP. Now how will the Glazers respond ?
December 30th, 2013 at 1:06 pm
Goodbye Splengo. I appreciated your posts. See you tomorrow.
December 30th, 2013 at 1:06 pm
Well, as of 14 minutes ago, both Mark Dominick and Greg Schiano are no longer with the Bucs (source – https://www.facebook.com/#!/tampabaybuccaneers)
So… I guess we don’t have our quarterback either :o)
December 30th, 2013 at 1:07 pm
Type something joe whats on your mind!
December 30th, 2013 at 1:07 pm
I’m tired of Lovie and Jay Gruden talks though. Please please search and maybe start with a PRESIDENT of Football operations and let him hire the GM and COACH
December 30th, 2013 at 1:07 pm
Hire a great offensive mind as head coach. Hire Jim Schwartz as the def coord.
December 30th, 2013 at 1:07 pm
No jay gruden he’s terrible with the bengals.. Being in Zimmer instead
December 30th, 2013 at 1:08 pm
The duo of Pioli and O’Brien sound nice
December 30th, 2013 at 1:08 pm
Take care Splengo. Though you might want to stick around, no telling who the next coach will be.
December 30th, 2013 at 1:09 pm
Seriously, where is Joe, delivering Condolences flowers to Dominick?
December 30th, 2013 at 1:10 pm
@White Tiger
You don’t know nearly 1/10th of the whole story behind the Freeman debacle, he may be smiling now, but he’ll probably never see another NFL contract.
December 30th, 2013 at 1:11 pm
BucsQcCity
Better idea. Zimmer would be a great HC, but please we need someone who knows how to run an offense. I am so so so so sick and tired of watching…BBBBBOOOOOORRRRRIIIIIINNNNNGGGG!
December 30th, 2013 at 1:11 pm
We hire McKay and Lovie, and I give up. I’m all up here by myself defending that decision? I couldn’t do it. Well, I guess I would still have the Rays….
McKay stabbed us in the back far worse than Gruden ever did…remember the lousy draft bomb he pulled on us? Remember how he sat in the Atlanta booth during the same season he left. He pee’d right on the Bucs pirate ship and the Glazer would return to him? Are they that stupid?
Lovie did nothing in Chicago once his young guys started aging. He left the Chicago D in shambles…He didn’t have a QB and never got one. You have to be kidding….now a guy like Tomlin would be fine…there is a former Buc HC…but forget Lovie…that wouldn’t be any step forward.
December 30th, 2013 at 1:11 pm
Lovie would be a catastrophe of the highest order. It needs to be an offensive minded coach period. Defense is fine, offense is high school level. Hiring Lovie will set the franchise back even worse than Raheem or Schaino did. At least they kept us at the bottom rather than climbing to the middle where you accomplish the same as the bottom, with poorer talent.
December 30th, 2013 at 1:11 pm
Joe – dying here waiting for your inside take on the firings!!!!! Hurry, hurry, hurry!
December 30th, 2013 at 1:12 pm
Bucs fire Greg Schiano!
And once again joebucsfan.com is the last to report.
Joe is asleep at the wheel again just like when Raheem Morris was fired.
December 30th, 2013 at 1:12 pm
Zimmer For HC Hugh Jackson for OC
December 30th, 2013 at 1:13 pm
Yeah wouldn’t want a coach like Lovie who’s actually taken a team to the Super Bowl – with freaking Rex Grossman!!!!!! He’s terrible.
December 30th, 2013 at 1:13 pm
Glennon is not gone.
I am surprised that the Glazers moved so quickly.
The Little General was probably strutting around making bold statements like Glennon being the franchise QB and they canned him.
Jay Gruden and the Bengals put up 34 points on the Ravens despite Andy Dalton throwing 4 picks. Imagine, outscoring your opponents, deciding what works and going with it. Overcoming adversity. Daring to be great.
December 30th, 2013 at 1:15 pm
Buckinnuts…he is in mourning because the Rock Star was unplugged.
Just kidding Joe…I know you are busy getting the story right.
December 30th, 2013 at 1:15 pm
I guess this is a moot point now..lol The new coach will have something to say about this.
December 30th, 2013 at 1:15 pm
I was hoping for Zimmer last time and still wouldn’t mind him being coach, what about Norv Turner as OC?
December 30th, 2013 at 1:16 pm
I think the next few weeks will be very exciting and interesting for we Buc fans
December 30th, 2013 at 1:17 pm
Lovie isn’t terrible, he’s just extremely mediocre. His Super Bowl trip is a total anamoly. He’s a meh coach and the Bucs need offense. Lovie’s offenses often resembled survived abortions. No thanks.
December 30th, 2013 at 1:17 pm
“Lovie did nothing in Chicago once his young guys started aging. He left the Chicago D in shambles”
———-
You do realize he went 10-6 last year don’t you? After these last three years, wouldn’t not welcome 10-6? They had one of the best defenses in the league too. How exactly did he leave them in shambles?
December 30th, 2013 at 1:17 pm
Joe’s busy nursing a warm beer in the corner because Dominik got canned.
But seriously, I bet Joe isn’t sleeping on it. I bet he’s trying to gather more intel and/or create an angle on the story that isn’t just “they got fired”.
December 30th, 2013 at 1:17 pm
Glennon is who’s QB?
December 30th, 2013 at 1:17 pm
Word is, the Glazers were going to keep Schiano until the we have our quarterback comment.
Beat me to it clowney.
December 30th, 2013 at 1:18 pm
Hawaiian…too much Maui Wowwie, I guess.
Lovie got there once, never won, and never got a better QB. He never got back. His last many years wen’t from bad to worse….they could never win an important game against the Packers, or anyone else, for years. No way.
December 30th, 2013 at 1:19 pm
GOOD RIDDANCE TO MARK DOM AND JOE’S NICKNAME FOR HIM. SORRY JOE
December 30th, 2013 at 1:19 pm
Shaun King is available and….now…he can block for himself!!!
“Shaun King, one of two Buc Quarterbacks that lost a NFC Championship Game when his defense gave up 11 or fewer points.”
December 30th, 2013 at 1:19 pm
If you guys remember, Joe did a lot of digging after the Raheem firing before he reported. I’d prefer he get some additional substance rather than just spitting out a headline just to get it up there fast.
December 30th, 2013 at 1:19 pm
Okay, how about Bill Cowher? Rumor last year was that he wants back in.
December 30th, 2013 at 1:20 pm
I also rather have a offensive minded HC but if not Zimmer should be top on the list
December 30th, 2013 at 1:20 pm
No to Lovie Smith. Who wants a good defense but an impotent offense? Who wants that kind of frustration again? No thank you.
December 30th, 2013 at 1:20 pm
I’ve wanted Zimmer as HC he has CIN D humming
December 30th, 2013 at 1:20 pm
no seriously he is curled in the fetal position in the corner because his rockstar got canned! Oh poor joe I hope you can handle the long distance relationship!
December 30th, 2013 at 1:21 pm
Is Derrick Brooks ready for an NFL GM Job. Would love to see him involved in some way….
December 30th, 2013 at 1:21 pm
I hear he’s on a lunch date with one of the Bucs cheerleaders.
December 30th, 2013 at 1:22 pm
Guys look at the concussion rules. This league is going offense not defense. We have to look to the future not the past. We need to see the Glazers do something bold now.
December 30th, 2013 at 1:24 pm
Dallas…did you see the worst rushing Defense in the league play Philly last week? Yeah…that is the D that Lovie left in Chicago. Personally, I’d rather have the O he left than the D, but he still doesn’t have a good QB up there….never could get one or convince the GM to either.
December 30th, 2013 at 1:24 pm
HELL YES! SCREW ANYTHING THAT THAT D BAG SAYS. The new coach and gm will draft their own qb. See ya glennon thanks for nothing!
December 30th, 2013 at 1:24 pm
If Glennon is not our QB then last year 3rd rnd pick was wasted. The good thing is thatthere is cap room to improve via FA
December 30th, 2013 at 1:26 pm
Saw a comment on PFT that made me laugh…
In a last ditch effort to save his job, Schiano dove at the Glazer’s knees…
December 30th, 2013 at 1:27 pm
Since when was it Lovie’s job to bring in a QB? He wasn’t the GM! Some of you have gotten too used to Schiano. So you don’t want Lovie because he didn’t win a Super Bowl and he couldn’t beat the Packers? But you would want another coach with no head coaching experience? How has that worked out for us lately?
December 30th, 2013 at 1:34 pm
You think a good HC isn’t going to politic for the QB or a QB he wants…yeah, he politic’ed for Cutler…LOL. I’m saying if you get a good and well respected GM, you might get an excellent experienced veteran coach…an actual Superbowl winner. I saw Lovie get outcoached time after time live on TV up here the last few years. He isn’t the answer.
If the Glazers want to bow and scrape to someone, let then hire a well respected GM with a great personnel record and rehire Gruden. Not only did he always get more out of a team than his talent, but Duemig would have a cow….I’d love to hear that program.
December 30th, 2013 at 3:16 pm
BucsQcCity Says:
December 30th, 2013 at 1:07 pm
No jay gruden he’s terrible with the bengals.. Being in Zimmer instead
I really hope you are joking about Jay Gruden, their offense has been very good with a bunch of young players at qb, wr, te, rb, etc. I think they scored over 40 points a game 3 or 4 in a row. No we don’t need that here.
@Mark2001
do you watch Bears games or just look up stats? You do know they lost Briggs, one of the best mlb of the last decade and 3 starters on their d-line. He left them in shambles is hilarious. The problem with the Bears has been that Angelo couldn’t draft a wr until they traded for Marshall and they could never protect the QB behind the leagues worst o-line or close to it
