2013 Is Over For Watson And Barron
December 29th, 2013Injuries have ended the seasons of finger-wagger safety Mark Barron and Dekoda Watson. Both are on the Bucs’ inactive list for the Saints clash at 4:25 p.m.
They join FB Lonnie Pryor, LB Ka’Lial Glaud, DE Scott Solomon, DT Matthew Masifilo and foot-toe challenged Carl Nicks.
Watson will be an unrestricted free agent shortly, and he’ll be a decision for the organization. Both Greg Schiano and rockstar general manager Mark Dominik have called Watson an elite special teams player, and he does add value as a depth player.
It also doesn’t hurt that he played well at strongside linebacker since starter Jonathan Casillas blew out his knee. Watson finished with two sacks, 33 solo tackles, an interception, a forced fumble and a blocked punt.
Barron has yet to have the season Bucs fans expect from the seventh overall pick in 2011, and he was banged up at various times in 2013. But he’s still a young player on the rise and one a lot should be expected from in 2014. Barron entered this week second on the team with 70 solo tackles. He added two sacks and two picks.

Bucs will miss Barron today. Nothing can be sweeter today than an upset of NO and a Cards win over SF, knocking NO out of the playoffs. That’s a stretch, but could happen.

Somehow missing Barron and Watson will provide more excuses for the “Mike Glennon Mob”
