Special Teams Ace Lost For Season
December 18th, 2013Rookie wide receiver Russell Shepard joins the double-digit tally of Buccaneers lost for the season because of injury, the team announced today.
Not a big deal. Right? Well, not really.
Shepard was a special teams ace in all phases, so Dave Wannstedt explained to Joe.
Sadly, Shepard will be best remembered as the guy on the wrong end of Eric Page’s ill-advised handoff Sunday.

Yes sorry, Ace??? Why do we have all of these players the coaches love but our only memory is them screwing up on the field. Practice players I guess. Too bad practice doesnt count on the scoreboard just ask Allen Iverson.

Looks like we’ll need to reassess our medical staff as well as our coaching staff this off season

Shepard can run, catch & throw….watch some of the highlights of this guy!!! We need players like this (special teams contributors)….I would love to see us work him out of the backfield or in the slot next year…..would also love to see Shepard in the wildcat.

He’s a beast in the slot for my madden team…
That should count for something. 😉

@McBuc –
Shepard injured his toe fumbling the reverse hand-off on that last kickoff. I don’t think this is a strength and conditioning issue. Everyone on the team seems to be in pretty good football shape. Injuries happen. Sometimes, they come in bunches.
