49ers Vs. Bucs, Open Thread
December 15th, 2013
Welcome to (for now) sunny Tampa, where the Bucs host the rugged 49ers in the last home game of the 2013 season. Will it be Bucs commander Greg Schiano’s final home game as Bucs coach?
One way to punch his ticket for a return at the helm would be to pull off a monumental upset of the 49ers. As Joe wrote earlier, he simply cannot see that happening short of the Bucs pulling off a pick-six and/or a scoop and score on defense.
Some things to watch: Will Mike Glennon continue his slide or will he bounce back? If Glennon stinks up the joint again, Joe is sure drafting a quarterback is very much on the table (“Hhheeerrreee’sss Johnny!”). Also, can the Bucs ‘offensive line man up and prevent the manly 49ers front seven, maybe the best in the business, from harassing Glennon and create running lanes?

Our dline does well against weak OLs. Play a decent to good one and it’s non existent. McCoy has not played well against a better OL.

The offense will get better but we just can’t be down by 17 when they do. Play some good Def get a turnover or two and the offense needs to at least move the ball some to get a field goal and let the def rest. Nice sack!

Understanding the fact that he’s a rook.

On game tape, it’s not the offensive scheme. Half of the time Glennon doesn’t even look down the field unless that play is called. Other than that, he looks at the check down the whole time. It’s both Glennon & the scheme & Schianos comtrolling ways don’t help either. No wonder why Freeman wanted out of here.

Forced em to settle for a FG, but it’s still a 2 score game. Not enough time to to get the ball back twice since Schiano burned a timeout, not that his defense could stop the 9ers from a getting a first down anyway. Their only hope is the onside kick, assuming they can even score on the next drive.

Blame it on the O-line all ya want, Rainey was on the streets for a reason, and he went undrafted for a reason. It was fun while it lasted, but the Bucs are back to looking like that 0-8 team.

It was a high risk play, but down by 9 points with less than 4 minutes to play…they took a chance…not like we had a lead, tie, or were don’t by one score. Chill out guys…it was a high risk play…the big plays were not stopping them on third downs last series.

its just plain and simple, this team shows its true colors when they play good teams. Look at the Panthers games, look at this game. Look at the past 5 years. The only exception is the Seahawks game, which they lost anyway. If the Bucs were truly a competitive team, they wouldn’t obviously be outcoached and outplayed every time they play a playoff team.

The only time I’ve ever seen those types of plays is during the closing seconds of the game when there wont be enough time to get another play off. It was a bad call at a bad time.

I just don’t understand how people want any of the coaching staff back, especially Schiano? Our defense is better as a whole because of trading valuable draft pics and big $$on free agents but our dline still sucks besides 1 stud. Our offensive line is horrid, cannot think of 1. We need real professionals in here to get this going, there is a lot of talent back on contract next year but they need to be in position to bring out their best. I just don’t see it at all really in the last 2 years. We’ve beaten some teams just as bad as us but that’s about it. Big deal, we need to get a dominate team back again that doesn’t get bitch slapped on both sides of the trenches.

It seem to me like Glennon was doing well on the drive at the begining of the 4th qtr. He looked to be running the offense on 2 minute offense. The coaching staff didn’t seem to realize that the 2 minute offense was working and moved away from that. Then they got desperate and ran a trick play. The trick play fail due to the players. Then the wheels really fell off. Glennon looked worst after that.
If Schiano comes back next year, expect Glennon to be the QB. Do we really want to see more of this? Are we forgetting this is SCHIANO 2ND YEAR with more talent. Time to start give us fan hope for next year.
A lost next week really needs to be the last game of Schiano.

SCHIANO needs to go, we have seen enough. Can a new coaching staff do any worse? Sure they can lose them all, but SCHIANO has come close.
We haven’t made the playoffs in years, we had lost 8 in a row, beat some lousy teams along the way , and today’s loss to the niners is an example of how the season, last two years has gone, UGLY!
Its going to be awhile before this team can make the playoffs and contend, outplayed and dominated today the whole game.
