All On Revis

Apparently in honor of today’s true head-to-head matchup of elite NFL superstars Darrelle Revis and Calvin Johnson (Joe can’t freakin’ wait!), The Tampa Tribune cobbled together a long series of quotes from various NFL and Bucs sources that detail what Revis brings to the game.
Joe found one from Darren Woodson noteworthy. Woodson references that Revis’ interception total (21) is extraordinary for a player who is primarily in press coverage, which doesn’t lead to many clean interception opportunities.

I think Stafford will avoid too many attempts to Megatron….he will probably be having success with his tight ends and Burleson….add a little Bush.
That combination will be hard to stop…we need to somehow outscore a very good offense today.

Agreed, I think it’s going to be a little anti-climatic because the huge drop off in talent from our first to second cb just means he’ll throw the ball elsewhere with a high likelihood of success..here’s to hoping i’m wrong

Of course there goes Gruden being inaccurrate again. Revis isn’t fast to the watch? Revis was expected to be a late 1st rounder coming out of Pitt and then he blazed a 4.39 40 at his Pro Day and the Jets took him at #16 overall (I believe, going solely on memory here). True, when Revis came out of Pitt, there were many that questioned his speed, but he clearly put those questions to rest as he ran his excellent 40 time.

I’m just so glad that we have a superstar like revis on this team. For a 1st round pick to get a guy like this! What corner could have we drafted that is even close and to think he is getting stronger every week. Luv my Bucs

I’ve been all over the Interwebs reviewing week 12 game picks. Of 20 or more analysts predicting the game, Mike Ditka was the only one picking the Bucs. Iron Mike knows defense so I’m going with a monster from the midway and pick the Bucs too! Bucs 28, Lions 24. Go Bucs!

It will be interesting to see how much these 2 actually line up against each other. The Lions put Calvin all over the field, from each flank to the slot. Serridan, thus far, has shown no desire to move Revis around to follow one particular WR. If the Bucs do not adjust and Calvin is matched up on Leonard Johnson and a banged up Johnthan Banks multiple times throughout the game, it could get very ugly!!!

Time for Revis to show if he’s worth a million a game. Proof in the pudding day is here Son. Coaching staff needs to let him play today.

You cannot cover Johnson. If Revis shuts him down it is proof he is the best and fully healthy.
I’m not too optimistic about this game. I sure would like to see Calvin and Suh shut down completely. To me, no matter the score, that would be a major victory for this team at present.
Lions are a winning team. They’re not great, but they are still a winning team. If the Bucs somehow get a victory today, we can kiss the #1 pick goodbye, because it will mean they’ll have a chance to win all the remaining games this year.
