Celebrating Bobby Rainey
November 17th, 2013It was a day to celebrate Bobby Rainey. And Bucs fans wanted to celebrate with him.
Rainey had just gone all Doug Martin on the Dixie Chicks, grinding and slicing and weaving his way through the Dixie Chicks’ defense to lead the Bucs to a previously unthinkable 41-28`win Sunday.
As Rainey came off the field, looking veery bit the part of a running back who racked up 163 yards on 30 carries, he ran behind the Bucs’ bench and high-fived every fan in the front row as he slowly made his way to the tunnel, trying his best to slap skin with as many Bucs fans as he could.
Just a four weeks ago, Rainey was walking the streets looking for work when, as a result of a rash of injuries to Bucs running backs, Rainey received a call from Bucs rock star general manager Mark Dominik to join the team.
Now, the Bucs have gone from a thin running back corps to as deep as a team can get at running back. Think of the possibilities next season with Martin, Mike James and Rainey all healthy.
Wonder who picked Rainey, Bucs commander Greg Schiano or Dominik? (Hint: Rainey did not play at Rutgers; he played for Western Kentucky.).

Should give credit to the right source, shelton quarles did a great job scouting up Rainey.

Joe, how much input do you think Willie Taggart had on the Bucs decision to pick Rainey up? Im sure Dominck ask for feedback since he coached him at W.Kentucky.

And WHAT do we do with all these running backs? Trades? Keep the depth with a chance of a great back riding pine? What?!? We have some serious talent here( though they may not be the same in a different system).

Don’t forget Brian Leonard and Jeff Demps. I for one am very impressed woth Leonard. Very versatile, tough, and smart. With Martin, Rainey, James, Demps, and Leonard we will have a very good problem of having too much talent in the backfield.

We love you Rainey.

He’s an Ernest Graham type who fought his way into a starting lineup, paying his dues on the way. Buccaneer man, that one.

Last week Schiano praised Dom on getting Rainey and took no credit. Old news again designed to be anti-Schiano. Geez

Or the buc realist. Did you get fired by the owners? Why are you always miserable? I enjoyed the day. Bet you didn’t.

I have a thing about consistency.

Don’t you guys thinks you have to give some credit to the O Line? They have consistently blown the line up the last two (almost three) games. I think they are good, no doubt…But I think there is something to be said for the O Line, and a more consistent passing threat.

Agree Greg maybe that’s the whole reason our backs are so good
