Schiano Lauds Dominik For Rainey Signing
November 12th, 2013Interesting nugget here from the happy postgame interview exclusive to the Buccaneers Radio Network. Greg Schiano lauded rockstar general manager Mark DominikĀ for signing running back Bobby Rainey, who scored the winning touchdown last night.
Rainey was waived by the Browns and the Bucs plucked him off the streets on Oct. 21.
“You know, we didn’t really have a need at that point [when Rainey was signed.] But there’s a good player, and if we can get a good player on our roster we need to do it. Boy, we were grateful to have him tonight,” Schiano said.
Obviously, that’s Dominik’s responsibility; monitor all NFL movements and be ready to pounce wisely. Schiano’s job is to assess the talent and work with it or cast it away. In this case, unlike with some lost D-linemen, Schiano made the right move.

I thought Brian did a good job as well, if not better. Really, if not for the TD Rainey scored we would not be talking so much about him.
But Leonard was getting chunks of yardage pretty often. Not sure why they switched to Rainey, unless it was to find out what they had in him, knowing they’d be looking for more RBs today.

Needed to rest Leonard….his workload has been light thus far….we definately need to find an additonal back ASAP….
What do you mean….”if” he hadn’t scored the TD we wouldn’t be talking about him?…..that’a a pretty big if…

if he didn’t score that TD we would be talking about a buc loss!

Well that 3rd string RB signing really proves what a terrific GM the Bucs have. The next thing you know the Pop Star will pick up a TE in the next few years. The future looks bright with Pop Star at the helm.

Yeah Dom needs to find another Rainey. It has to be tough at this point in the year however I am sure with all of the talented undrafted running backs out of college and the scouting information from the previous draft, that we can fill the void. If the OL can continue to run block better, it should not matter too much who is toting the rock.

Raineys actually a pretty good back. Leonard is alright but doesn’t have the vision to be a main back there were many cutbacks last night he missed. But Rainey found his when he got in. He could be used, but Michael turner is still out and about maybe we should give him a ring. Especially with the falcons still looming on the schedule.
