Covering Vincent Jackson

One reason the Bucs have struggled is the loss of Mike Williams. Among the better, No. 2 wide receivers in the NFL, Williams missed time and then was placed on the injured reserve list after trying to come back from a nasty hamstring injury.
Common sense suggests that, with virtually no other reliable receiver on the roster aside from stud No. 1 receiver Vincent Jackson, teams would load up on taking Jackson out of the game.
Bucs commander Greg Schiano spoke this week about how defenses have gone after Jackson.
“They’re always going to dedicate coverage to Vincent,” Schiano said. “But we had some things going – up until last week – where were able to, still with the coverage adjustments, some route adjustments that were doing and planning for how they were trying to take Vince away when we had him as the primary guy on the route and he was still able to get the football. Last week, not so much, and that happens sometimes. You can’t let it happen too much. There’s several different ways Miami can attack the receiving core this week and it’s going to be interesting to see how they do. I think part of it has to do with the health of their secondary. I think depending on who’s healthy at corner, how they’ll deploy their guys. We’ll have to adjust as we see what the game plan is.”
Now this ought to be interesting Monday night. Will the Dolphins try to mimic what the Seahawks did to take Jackson out of the game? And if they do, and the Bucs already knowing how the Seahawks took Jackson out of the game, can the Bucs adjust accordingly?
Thus far this season, adjusting has not been the Bucs’ forte.

How many QB’s that played today looked better than Mike Glennon? Maybe 2 or 3.
Give Glennon a #1 Wide Receiver in the draft. I say we trade our #1 pick to Jacksonville. Let them pick a QB and we get our WR cheaper.

Buc coaches havn’t shown any adjustments so far these season. If healthy they’d have run Doug Martin to the hospital. If so much coverage is rolling over to Jackson then they should be crossing routes underneath his vertical routes. Put in some west coast offense instead of trying to be a power running team with an offensive line that doesn’t knock players off the ball.p
Glennon has done a good job finding Tim Wright, I would continue throwing the ball to him, surely he won’t be doubled up.

I don’t know about the rest of you but I’m rooting for an 0-16 season. Since the Bucs truly are the worst team in the NFL I’d rather see them fail spectacularly and go for history than manage 3 wins.

No depth at the WR position(and most of tge positions on this team) and horrible play calling. Clean house after the season. Looking ahead towards the draft.
