One Chance Of A Bucs Road Game — In Spain

March 27th, 2025

So the NFL announced its international plans for the 2025 season.

That’s seven games in five countries.

The host teams have been named and the only Bucs road opponent with a “home” game overseas is the Dolphins, who will play a game in Madrid, Spain. The date and opponent has yet to be determined.

Joe doesn’t care if the Bucs play in Spain or not. It’s not like the Tampa Bay faithful would lose a precious game at The Licht House. But Joe does like Madrid as an option because the weather typically is better than at other European venues.

Joe can already see Baker Mayfield inhaling bocadillo de calamares with a skinny martini.

Enjoy reasoned and seasoned Bucs takes on the Ira Kaufman Podcast. Listen below.

The only thing that would suck is that I live in Cape Coral, FL, which is exactly two hours from either Miami or Tampa (yet for some reason we’re officially a “Dolphins Market”) and I’d consider going to a Bucs game there in south Florida.

  2. Woodman Says:

If you 2 hrs either way why not consider a bucs game if your a bucs fan.. Assuming you are ?

  3. gbobucsfan Says:

Spain would be sweet!!! I tried to get Germany tickets, logged on 3 hours before tix went on sale and I was 50,000th in line. Crazy.

  4. Fred McNeil Says:

They say the ladies are insane there
And they sure know how to use it.

  5. Farmer Says:

I would love that to happen! My company has a site a few hours outside of Madrid, could do a business & pleasure trip!

  6. adam from ny Says:

i was f’ing around in madrid and ibiza back in 2017 for about a week…

    let the good times roll

  7. adam from ny Says:

you’d have to check the schedule, but i don’t see 2 florida teams getting together out in spain…

the nfl will pick a team that can work a little better in building an overseas fanbase there…imho i don’t see the bucs as the “spain team”

  8. BucDawg Says:

    Hope the Spaniards like turnovers!!!!

  9. JimBobBuc Says:

Tried to get ticket to Germany game and i was 620.000 in line hahahahaha.
I think they fixed the issue the next year.
If Bucs come to Spain then I definitely try to fet some tickets.
I want to see our DBs playing 10 yds off live lol

  11. ATLBucSolar Says:

    GO GATORS!!!

Now I can’t get that damn song off my mind. lol.

  13. Bucsnbeer Says:

I was stationed in Rota Spain. Went to my first topples beach. The women are beautiful but at that time they all had hairy pits.

  14. unbelievable Says:

That would be an incredible experience as a fan… but I doubt they’d do Dolphins Bucs there.

I had season tickets for 16 years, duder.

I’m just saying I might attend the game in Miami.

  16. BillyBucco Says:

    Buffalo Bills (13-3)
    New England Patriots (3-13)
    New York Jets (4-12)
    Baltimore Ravens (11-5)
    Cincinnati Bengals (8-8)
    Los Angeles Chargers (10-6)
    New Orleans Saints (5-11)
    Tampa Bay Buccaneers (9-7)
    Washington Commanders (11-5)

Literally any other team would be better.

  17. BucsfaninOregon Says:

I was in Loret Del Mar 30 years ago and there were many topless beach goers and they certainly didn’t have all hairy armpits. It’s a party/tourist town and the best looking young woman I ever met was a ~20 year old Swedish tourist WITHOUT a boyfriend!

And, I was with my daughter (13) pending a divorce. Go there if you want to rock away the night (the whole night).

  18. Dewey Selmon Says:

Heck yeah, give me a chance to practice my Spanish. bonjour!

  19. FortMyersDave Says:

The Bucs are probably the only team in the NFL which has never been the road team for an international game as Team Glazer has always sacrificed a home game to play in London or Munich. Is that coin driven? Even the Jags have been the road team when they did back to back games in the UK as the NFL must not have allowed Kahn to make both home games as his team draws much better in London than the Gator Bowl. I wonder how many games Liam’s Jags will play in London when the Gator Bowl is being renovated? I’d love to see the Bucs in Spain but I bet they go overseas in 2026 and lose a home game again instead…..

  20. adam from ny Says:

i say it’s cincy, chargers, washington…a team with a quality young qb, a fanbase can latch onto…

and had a decent record last year

buffalo, bucs and jets are 2nd tier long shots for the gig imho

    One time in band camp…….

  22. IrishPirate Says:

Nothing to do with this post I know but I think Campbell will be gone by 19. Of so we should go edge or Grant with 1st pick. Would hate taking a beast DT in the first. Thoughts?

  23. IrishPirate Says:

If and wouldn’t. Sorry started drinking early. Cheers

  24. Kenton Smith Says:

My first thoughts IrishPirate are of Loret Del Mar and the times I had there many years ago. Oops, sorry, that was BusfaninOregon. Oh those times! Anywho, (as Rod Munch would say), IrishPirate, if we get the right beast DT in the first that oughta be just fine.

  25. IrishPirate Says:

Agreed. As you said. We just need the “right” person and fit. Regardless of position. I’m excited and ready for the draft and see how we improve.

  26. Kenton Smith Says:

    IrishPirate- Cheers!

  27. TampaBayDJ Says:

Billy bucco , you do know there are 17 games now ? Bucs were 10-7 last season

  28. BA’s Red Pen Says:

    Olé

  29. DailyRich Says:

I know it’s because of the curve of the planet, but it’s wild to me that Madrid is west of London but it takes almost 90 minutes longer to fly there.

  30. garro Says:

    Roger’s international dream is bull!

If the world wants football let them make there own league. Goodell and his ego is getting very old.

    Go Bucs!

  31. KABucs Says:

Was born in Spain and been to Madrid a few times, been living in Hillsborough county for over 50 years though (My dad was in the Air Force stationed in Seville in late sixties). Great people, awesome attitude, know how to have fun, amazing food, closest weather to Florida that Europe has (no place in Europe has our humidity/heat combo). Maybe they pick Tampa and Miami to go there because there the most Hispanic cities we have on the East Coast? It’s a 9 and a half hour late for Miami. Would be super long flight for any West coast team. Then again, pass scheduling shows they don’t really give a crap how tough it is on a team. I thought sending Seattle to Germany that one year was down right unfair to them, we won pretty easily. That an 8 hour time zone change for the Seahawks. Talk about jet lag.

  32. KABucs Says:

    Garro…
Spain already has Futbol anyhow. LOL

  33. RVATom Says:

I just don’t want to see guys hurt playing on some janky turf field.

  34. GenocideD Says:

I HATE NFL games going to Europe. It’s stupid to do that to our players. Time zones and lack of home American fans.

  35. UKBuccaneer Says:

The international series is almost 20 years old. It’s not going away anytime soon, so it’s pointless bitching about it. It’s been an overwhelming success.

  36. Joe Says:

The international series is almost 20 years old. It’s not going away anytime soon, so it’s pointless bitching about it. It’s been an overwhelming success.

    It’s only going to grow.

Joe was blown away when he went to the Bucs game in Munich. Literally became a high point in Joe’s life.

  37. Joe Says:

I just don’t want to see guys hurt playing on some janky turf field.

That’s what Joe doesn’t get. NFL owners will bend and spread for the euro kickball teams and have no issue ripping out their grass so that the kickball teams have their desired turf.

But NFL in Europe? They have to play on cow pastures for football fields. The very first thing the NFL should demand if they play football overseaons is that the fields have to be exactly to spec for NFL standards.
