Larry Foote Discusses Bucs Plans For Haason Reddick
March 15th, 2025
Bucs OLB coach Larry Foote talks of plans for Haason Reddick.
So when Haason Reddick and the Bucs came to a contract agreement, Reddick wanted to know what the Bucs wanted from him and how he would be used. That’s only fair.
So Reddick spoke with Todd Bowles and outside linebackers coach Larry Foote, who was Reddick’s position coach in Arizona. How would Bowles and Foote use him? Reddick wanted to know.
Yesterday, Foote attended Reddick’s press conference and Joe asked him about that conversation.
Foote chuckled about the entire conversation.
“Oh, that’s real easy: Be a pass rusher,” Foote laughed. “I was laughing when he started asking me those types of questions. And I said, ‘Well, what do you want to do?'”
Reddick told Foote he wanted to get after the quarterback.
“That’s what we’re going to do,” Foote told Reddick.
Foote said Reddick’s responsibilities wouldn’t be complicated.
“That’s an easy position [edge rusher],” Foote told Reddick. “We want you to get after the quarterback.”
Bowles will move Reddick around to drill quarterbacks.
“And you know Bowles, we are flexible,” Foote said. “We will move you all around. And [Reddick] has that ability. That’s what he brings.
“He’s not just a standard defensive end. We can move him all over the place and try to feature him.”
It almost sounds like Bowles and Foote will use Reddick like Cowboys use Micah Parsons. The beauty of Parsons is that offenses don’t know from play to play where he will come from.
If Reddick can attack from multiple positions, it’s almost delicious to think of how Bowles may use him.
Just so long as Bowles doesn’t have Reddick covering Drake London.

“Oh, that’s real easy: Be a pass rusher,”
My goodness!! That is refreshing!! I feel like I just had a sip of high end bourbon on a sunny Clearwater beach kinda day!

All a smoke screen. He’s working on his soft zone drops as we read this article.

The perfect chess piece for Bowles

In the press conference when Greg A asked him about dropping back I vomited.

So refreshing

You’re parting line absolutely made me belly laugh.

Hasson saying he wants to hear the cannons fire a lot this year got me thinking. Why do they only fire for our offense? Why not fire a shot for a sack? Or for a strip sack fumble or interception? Being a defensive town it seems odd that only getting in the red zone, TDs or FGs get the cannon’s firing.

You can’t hide DP.

Like you said Joe, it sounds like Bowles will use Reddick like the Cowboys use Parsons. I could see a lot of 4-3 fronts where Reddick is one of the 3 ILBs, with clearance to blitz when he sees the slightest opening.

“will use Reddick like the Cowboys use Parsons”. I like that idea.

Here’s to hoping that we play more press and up on the LOS this year. If that happens with a stronger pass rush it could mean a terrific season.

I remember way back when when the Vikings had the Purple People Eater defense and the motto and philosophy of their D line was “we will meet at the QB”
Let’s try to bring that back

He sounds fired up. I hope he is careful of Baker in all practices!

Stanglassman…
He was talking about all the times we score on defense from strip sacks to run backs for TDs and heavy pressure giving us pick 6s. Hopefully Zion keeps working with his jugs machine all off season.

Wasn’t Bowles developing a 2-down pass rushing concept?
March 15th, 2025 at 2:33 pm
I bet we see him drop into coverage. Lol

Aqua I was gonna ask you how long you thought until they moved Godwin to cover soft zone but you beat me to the punch on this one…LOL Just messing, you have some good takes but you do have me laughing. Now if we drafted that 2 way player in the draft you may on to something…

What a relief

KA. I suppose that’s true. The defense can get the cannons fired. It’s just much harder & more rare. It must be a Defensive TD. It just seems much easier to get in the red zone or kick a Fg. All special teams need to do is return a kickoff or a punt for a TD.
I still that sacks and turnovers should get a single fire. Give the D some love.

Our front office and coaches aren’t dumb guys. C’mon. This is exactly why you go spend the limited $$ we got on a guy like this. Luckily, we got him (as I thought it was a joke too when ai saw the news). The Temple and Foote connection probably helped us, but the way $$ is flying this year, surprised he didn’t get multi year deals. And maybe he did, but wanted to play for a contender? Either way, this guy is made to play in this defense.
Now go resign Gholston and Edwards and find a way to sign another CB and/or LB that can play. There’s plenty available guys that could even start.

L. F. G. !!!!

ballwasher — since Godwin is injured, we’re more likely to see someone like Palmer converted to the zone-dropping OLB. Meanwhile, for the element of surprise, Braswell will line up as the eligible 6th offensive linemen in certain packages. It’s what geniuses do, throw the other team off with unexpected surprise moves.

OMG, you had me at “drill quarterbacks”.
March 15th, 2025 at 11:04 pm
That’s an easy position [edge rusher],” Foote told Reddick. “We want you to get after the quarterback.”
Doesn’t this directly contradict what Bowles said? That OLB is the toughest position to learn in his defense?
March 16th, 2025 at 1:33 am
I like the get after the QB plan.
Moving him around? Not so much. But we shall see.
Go Bucs!

He’s the chess piece JTS could never be?

Let the BIG Man play!! Hope he opens up the Bucs Defense to a record # sacks!!! Come on Bucs meet at the Qb!!
