“Have You Gone Home?”

March 11th, 2025

An official Buccaneers photo of new offensive coordinator Josh Grizzard and Baker Mayfield.

Joe’s glad to hear rookie Bucs offensive coordinator Josh Grizzard seems to appreciate the amazing hand he’s been dealt at 34 years old.

He inherits an offense loaded with young veterans that just averaged 29.5 points per game last season. And he’s got a franchise quarterback.

He’s also got mending stud receiver Chris Godwin (ankle surgery). Godwin endorsed Grizzard today at One Buc Palace.

“There’s no doubt in my mind that he’s going to be incredibly successful because of the way that he approaches it,” Godwin said of Grizzard. “Like, every time I see Grizz, like I feel like I’m, ‘Have you gone home?’ Like he just loves ball and you can tell that he really, really puts his all into it. Those are the kind of guys you want to be around. Those are the kind of guys you want to work with.”

Joe keeps hearing that Grizzard is all business to the extreme. In fact, at Grizzard’s introductory news conference last month, it appeared that Grizzard had no family members, significant other or friends not working for the Bucs in attendance.

That was not typical.

At that time, Joe asked someone in the know who said that was no surprise, as Grizzard is all business.

As Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel told Joe at the NFL Scouting Combine, Grizzard is a master of preparation.

Please have a healthier season. Could be an exciting one coming up!

I can’t help but laugh at the Saints. When will these guys give it up and start a rebuild? I’d be holding onto whatever salary it took and trading Carr to Pittsburgh for a 4th (?). Going tank mode for a new QB.

Haha still throwing money around like they aren’t 50 million over the cap.

  2. Truth be Told Says:

No worries on the Offense. OL is Sold and all coming back. Great Running game with a Franchise QB and 2 stud WR’s. Any kind of a Pass Defense and we are Super Bowl material. Go Bucs!!

  3. Jake been there since the beginning Says:

Yes I think we are looking great as for the offense, I hope Reddick will be cool and come in and try to get this ring, including teaching Yaya and the others a little of his art to being the sack guy that he is. All we want is everything to come together, and all hands on deck let’s do this!!! Let’s Go Bucs, been great so far, tomorrow a CB or LB maybe. JL is working some magic!!!!

i love coaches that put in alot of effort in preparation. i remember that ticked off brady his first season with bucs

  5. Gipper Says:

Never get tired of Joe mentioning “ Bucs franchise quarterback.” Almost nobody mentions Bucs looking for a QB which is a big departure from where Bucs were two years ago. Maybe all it took was Tom Brady endorsing Baker’s “A+” throws in more than a few games this past season. As a Baker booster, I think the best is yet to come. The stats don’t lie. With expected defensive improvements this year, more than possible Bucs provide strong competition in NFC vs Detroit and Philadelphia.

  6. Kenton Smith Says:

Gipper. Strong competition for Detroit and Philadelphia? We beat both of them last year. Philly was missing top 2 receivers? We shred their defense Gipper. We stay healthy we’ll be as good as anybody in the league. Does it mean we win the Super Bowl? Nope. But as we continue getting better something has to give.

  7. Chris Says:

Yes Joe he was with Adam Gase, Brian Flores, Mike McDaniel in his Dolphins tenure, then under McVay, this coordinator is going to be superstar. Defense will be what holds this team back again, Should have left Bowles in Dallas last year when his D got beat by Cooper Rush 🤦‍♂️. Fix the Defense BOWLES!!!!!

Looking forward to September. If the Buc’s get another fast start, there may be no way to stop them !

  9. RVATom Says:

I wish the dude best of luck. Gotta have balance. Hard work alone won’t get it done. There is an innate talent to be succesful that guys who call games exhibit. Best wishes. Be mazing if we hit three playoff O Coordinators in three years.

Bucs have got to get a lockdown corner. Diaby was top 5 in pressures last season. A lockdown corner gives YAYA that extra second to turn many of those pressures into sacks. That said, it’s rare to get a lockdown corner that’s a rookie. Bucs improve their CB room and Diaby , Reddick and Braswell will all perform better . I would draft Jihad Campbell in Rd. one if he’s there and Hairston in rd. 2 . Hairston has a great combine and played very well in the S.E.C..
4.2 in the 40 . He would be great in zone because of his ridiculous speed and understanding of in game situations.
    As always Go Bucs

  11. Fred McNeil Says:

A rookie corner might have a few games to develop before Dean gets hurt again.

“”Should have left Bowles in Dallas last year when his D got beat by Cooper Rush 🤦‍♂️. Fix the Defense BOWLES!!!!!””

His job depends on it. I do not want to see a repeat of his swiss cheese D again.
Maybe no more 4 game losing streaks or 4 to 5 home losses. That might help our cause a bit.

  13. Chris Says:

You are what your record says you are Todd Bowles .
    53-65 regular season record (.449)
    1-3. Postseason (.250)

  14. Hodad Says:

I think Gruden was only 34 when he got his first OC job?
