Harold Landry Will Join The Patriots

March 9th, 2025

Gone.

Joe’s edge rusher fantasies will be less intense tonight.

They’ll still be there but with Myles Garrett holding a new deal and stud free agent edge rusher Harold Landry freshly inking a new contracts with New England, Joe will have less sack artists from which to choose.

Per NFL Network. Landry, with 30-plus sacks over the past three seasons, got $43.5 million on a three-year deal with New England with about 60 percent of that cash guaranteed.

Man, Joe really would have loved to see him in a Bucs uniform.

It’s ok. Breathe easy. There are still other avenues for the Bucs to fortify their edge rush, and Joe isn’t referring to re-signing overtime hero Anthony Nelson.

The free agency siren officially blows at noon tomorrow. Landry, a seven-year veteran, was cut last week by the Titans and free to negotiate.

If the Bucs don’t get any edge rushers in free agency, I don’t wanna hear them b*tch and moan about lack of a pass rush.

  2. Allbuccedup Says:

    Figure’s

  3. First Last Says:

I would rather be relevant and smart than make a bang move thinking it’ll take us to the Superbowl. I would say Licht is building a dynasty

  4. BPBucsfan Says:

At ease everyone. Nothing is happening tomorrow on the edge rusher front. According to them, they have all the talent they need. After all Braswell is going to shock the entire world 🌎, and I certainly hope he does, but I’m not holding my breath either.

  5. Tbbucs3 Says:

    Hendrickson or Mack or bust

Its a pipe dream to rely on Jason Licht to address our pass rush issues through the draft

  6. Ben Says:

JL screwjob. We trying to win or not?

  7. Ben Says:

If they dont get one its another years worth of automatic pass completions

  8. FilthyAnimal Says:

Funny to watch people get all whiny if they don’t get their way with signing free agents. It’s one of the funniest parts of the offseason. People pre-order adult diapers to arrive the day before free agency. Waaaahhh.

  9. BPBucsfan Says:

I can just hear Lee on the next Ira Kaufman podcast. I feel your pain, right there with you buddy. Couldn’t believe how much time QB’s had in the pocket to throw. Cousins had time to order a sandwich 🥪, while throwing for 500 yds against that “vaunted” defense.

  10. Alstott up the gut Says:

For the record, I want Anthony Nelson back! Love him in the rotation…. Of course need more help… but I am Team Nelson! Add Mack or Ojulari or maybe even Fowler!

  11. Redzone Says:

If you’d have told me we’d be signing Lavonte, Chris Godwin, Bredesen and Anthony Nelson in one offseason I’d have been ready for another boat parade

    – JL lol

  12. Fa9 Says:

Gregory still around agin this year ?

  13. Dewey Selmon Says:

Lockdown secondary would make the pass rush look better. we still need a OLB

  14. StormyInFl Says:

A good pass rush would make the secondary look better. QBs can’t complete anything if they’re on they arse.

  15. BPBucsfan Says:

    Sacks are drive killlers.

  16. Simeon4HOF Says:

Metcalf deal not helping things either

  17. Jmarkbuc Says:

    So less than 15M per?

  18. Simeon4HOF Says:

Welp lots of big time deals today, but crickets from the Bucs.
No Godwin news. No Edge. Now ain’t the time to get complacent JL.
Pay Chris and get an Edge

  19. Simeon4HOF Says:

Surely Jason is about to sign Hendrickson and CG

  20. Simeon4HOF Says:

    Bucs slipping smh

  21. Larrd Says:

I’d be happy if Bosa comes almost cheap, but they should play him on third down primarily. Let Braswell and Diaby and Ramirez play and develop, too.

  22. Usfbucs Says:

Metcalf got a deal but that’s also one less team who needs a WR. Rams are signing Adams so that’s another team off the list. I am taking the signing of LD as a sign the Bucs have plans otherwise why come back for another season. I believe that LD believes that the Bucs will be better this year than last.

  23. Usfbucs Says:

I agree with First Last up there, Licht is trying to build a dynasty not a one hit wonder.

  24. Jeff Says:

lol! It’s the Bucs. They will never spend the cash

  25. Usfbucs Says:

I also wouldn’t feel too bad about missing out on Landry. From Packerswire.com, “PFF viewed Landry was one of the NFL’s worst edge rushers. His pass-rush win rate was only 4.8 percent — ranking dead last among 64 qualified edge rushers (min 300 pass-rushing snaps). PFF had him at only 30 pressures on 423 pass-rushing snaps.”

  26. BucsFan81 Says:

The won’t sign anyone they are going to depend on what they have and the draft and put It on the offense to score 35 plus points a game.

  27. Saskbucs Says:

You dynasty guys… that’s gonna be tougher to do without Lavonte, Evans and Vea who the clock is ticking on.

If that’s the path you want, better let Chris walk, trade Dean for a 5th and hopefully get a comp pick or 2 for Godwin, Hainsey, Nelson leaving.

We can battle for 10-11 wins a year again over the next couple years and figure out how to replace our biggest stars while becoming a dynasty!

  28. Saskbucs Says:

If the dynasty you and JL mean is playoffs for 10 years straight without a Conf. Champ appearance, have fun. Steelers fans will tell you how happy they are.

We basically have a top 10 QB playing on the rookie scale right now. Cap goes up every year… not making moves is complacency and I got no time for it. I wanna see the Bucs win a SB.

This isn’t me panicking over Landry. I still expect to see some moves. If it’s not an edge hopefully, Ward and Dodson or players like that are incoming.

  29. Bucsfan951 Says:

Perhaps Jason and the boys are playing hardball with JTS and trying to drive his price down…

I simply don’t trust this organization to ever develop a qb or d-end at this point in my life. Just go out and spend the damn money to buy the best at each one of those positions and draft the rest!

  30. Usfbucs Says:

You’re always going to have guys leaving via FA, retirement, and injury. For me at least Licht building a dynasty means making smart long term moves.

Take Landry for example, if our primary issue on defense is pass rush then he was not it. Lots of people all hot and bothered over a guy who ranked dead last in pass rush win rate. He produced sacks but, with a pass rush win rate as low as his, it was because of coverage or somebody pushing the QB into Landry that he got his sacks.

  31. Usfbucs Says:

We need to make moves but they need to be the right moves.

  32. Greg Says:

Landry played for Vrabel in Tenneessee for, like, 6 years & he went to school at Boston College. Looks like he took less money to go to New England too. This was probably always what he was going to do.

  33. Redzone Says:

    Fans smell chum lol

It’ll all work out – just need to play it better and coach it better

  34. Oddball Says:

Zero FA moves by Bucs tomorrow.

  35. SenileSenior Says:

Usfbuc, you described what some fans want. They want someone who is fed sacks on the edge. I do not think that is what JL is looking for.

Stating that Braswell will shock us is a very bold statement.

  36. BPBucsfan Says:

Oddball hits it on the head. No moves tomorrow.

  37. Tbbucs3 Says:

Starting to talk myself more and more into Khalil Mack being the guy….at 34 he’s not going to be looking for anything more than 2 years….

Ive liked watching Mack for a long time and I think he may be a good fit for this team.

What the Browns did with Garrett contract is likely gonna make the Hendrickson thing way too pricey.

    Go get Mack attack

  38. Joe Says:

Perhaps Jason and the boys are playing hardball with JTS and trying to drive his price down…

    LOL!!!

  39. Defense Rules Says:

$43.5 million on a three-year deal … I’m surprised Landry went that cheap. Bucs could’ve easily afforded that for a veteran Edge.

  40. Joe Says:

I simply don’t trust this organization to ever develop a qb or d-end at this point in my life.

The only pass rusher this franchise has ever developed was the franchise’s very first pick: Lee Roy Selmon.

The Bucs are still working on the quarterback.

  41. gp Says:

    Oddball
    I’ll one up ya…
It’s possible that we won’t see any free agency moves all week!
    Aside from signing our own.

  42. Ds Says:

My only gripe with Licht that he forgets it’s about winning a Super Bowl!

  43. Wake up JL Says:

This was an easy deal. wake up JL

  44. richbucsfan Says:

This week could be a rough one for the Bucs. Top tier talent on the defensive side has been resigned, a Godwin might go elsewhere. If the Bucs sign cut-rate edge rushers and lose Godwin… not a good thing. Time will tell.

  45. FilthyAnimal Says:

Nothing but b!tching and moaning and free agency hasn’t even begun yet. What a bunch of crybabies.

  46. Proudbucsfan Says:

We’re not getting any big names in free agency,we are sticking with our draft pick edge rusher’s and it’s going to be another disappointing season. I have no faith in our edge, only in our interior DL

  47. Drunkinybor Says:

Im expecting nothing and A dont give up on Braswell he will turn into a great cover corner for us while faking he’s a rusher. Probably sign some turd burglar who has a decent pass rushing skills but Todd will unlock his great covering ability or we will sign a literal magician/illusionist who can wave a wand before the snap and yell 🧙‍♂️ 🪄 ✨️ exsPerieontos and make the center literally explode 🤯

  48. Marine Buc Says:

    @ DR

“$43.5 million on a three-year deal … I’m surprised Landry went that cheap. Bucs could’ve easily afforded that for a veteran Edge.”

Things that make you say hmmmmmm.

    Remember that old song bro?

Why would the Titans just release this guy if he was as good as that song was?

Why would he sign such a cheap deal with such a sh!t loser team in a 5h!thole city?

Why would our “Ring of Honor” GM pass up such a rare treasure?

    Hmmmmmm.

Maybe it’s for the best buddy.

  49. Pelsbuc61 Says:

Bucs definitely have to grab 1 or 2 FAs before the draft at edge, LB and/or CB. Keep Nelson, dump Dean and draft all D.

  50. Simeon4HOF Says:

We haven’t restructured anybody, cleared much space, barely anything. LVD gets the credit for coming back to play, not so much JL.
No rumors, no Edge sniffin, no Godwin hope, nothin.
If It’s this quiet in Tampa tomorrow, sumthin wrong up top

  51. Simeon4HOF Says:

    Secure Chris Godwin

  52. FilthyAnimal Says:

People assume that because they haven’t heard anything that nothing is happening. That’s a little bit crazy. It’s the same every time in free agency. People jump to conclusions and catastrophize what they see as inaction. It’s like clockwork. Just sit back and watch people’s heads explode.

  53. Oxycondomns Says:

bowles is a defensive minded head coach. this contract doesn’t seem crazy expensive. im sure bowles and licht were on same page that landry wasnt worth it anyways

  54. Tony Says:

Let’s just let everyone else improve of course.

  55. unbelievable Says:

@Defense Rules – I had the exact same thought. Bucs could afford that.

    What gives?

  56. Saskbucs Says:

To be clear, I didn’t really want Landry. I’m not losing sleep over these signings at all but I am starting to worry we won’t be doing much and I think it’s a mistake.

I don’t feel like an edge and a CB is asking too much. On one hand the Bucs talk like they won’t sacrifice the future cap at all and on the other they recognize glaring holes on D and a lack of depth.

If only plugging holes on D through the draft is their plan… not sure how guys like David and Evans and Baker would like that. Time is limited for winning and Baker will be thinking, I won’t be this cheap forever.

Bucs aren’t bringing back JJ Russell, so I assume they will at least be in the market for an ILB.

  57. Simeon4HOF Says:

Bucs could easily afforded that. JL bout alotta bs running his mouth lately and meanwhile no moves

  58. Simeon4HOF Says:

Shoulda known when JL signed Gregory sumthin more was off.
What kind of FA opening Monday are we in for.
If JL ready to make more excuses about Godwin like O he hurt or another team overpaid and 4 more top Edges deplete today … I don’t care who we draft, he can go f himself until we make it back to the Superbowl.
His vibe been off in recent weeks, and today will tell

  59. FilthyAnimal Says:

    This is hilarious 👆

Guy thinks he knows better. 🤣

  60. Simeon4HOF Says:

See how hilarious it is when we lose Chris Godwin and don’t sign a Pass Rusher. Sure Tampa Bay will be landing JL all over town lol

  61. Simeon4HOF Says:

Tired of *lauding him. We could have easily signed Landry. Strongly feel like he disrespected and pushed Chris Godwin away by his combine comments. The Bucs owe Chris Godwin better. Way better.
And if JL don’t wanna sign an Edge, he better learn how to draft one fast

  62. FilthyAnimal Says:

👆 So wound up and free agency hasn’t even started.

They have a plan. I’m sure they’re super sad that you don’t approve of it.

    🤣🤣🤣

  63. Simeon4HOF Says:

Idgaf lol. Other teams clearly had plans Sunday
