Critical References For Haason Reddick
March 10th, 2025
Bucs ties for new edge rusher Haason Reddick.
So new Bucs edge rusher Haason Reddick made a lot of headlines last season for allegedly having a bad attitude about landing with the Jets after the Eagles traded him there.
Reddick wanted a fat new contract, stayed home and asked for a trade. The Jets wouldn’t budge and eventually, in October, Reddick agreed to play.
No surprise, he was rather invisible last season in another nightmare Jets campaign.
But that history is not on the minds of folks at One Buc Palace. They believe in Reddick, and that goes beyond the $14 million he’ll be paid to chase quarterbacks this season in Tampa.
Reddick was drafted by Bucco Bruce Arians in Arizona back in 2017. The first-round pick was mis-cast as an inside linebacker. And he was kept there when Arians first retired after that 2017 season.
Current Bucs assistant coaches (not Todd Bowles) worked alongside Reddick and feel he’s a team guy and a hard worker.
It wasn’t until 2020 that Reddick became an edge rusher and exploded. Then he moved on to Carolina and Philadelphia in free agency and continued to terrorize quarterbacks.
Now the question is whether the Bucs have the same player.
What Joe does know is that Reddick, 30, will be playing on a prove-it contract knowing that a good year will net him about $30 million in free agency in 2026.
That’s serious motivation, if he even needs any.

wow we got his for a steal…14 mil in these current times is still a heck of a big paycheck – but it doesn’t blow out our cap

he’s 30…will want one more fat contract after this year…good signing, potentially great signing.

I guess we will see, but yes has all the earmarks of how Licht likes to operate. In that there is supposedily great depth for edge guys in the draft, I think we should draft one. However, yes agree we need inside linebackers more and definately help at corner first. Who knows maye the corner or LB is coming next in the free agency frenzy.

Good intel on Reddick. Makes more sense knowing Arians and Bowles know him and he is on a prove it year at age 30. He must know Bucs defense was short a couple of pieces and he can excel in his stats to prove his value for long term contract. Money is a great motivator and hope his ego doesn’t outweigh that motivation.

and let’s not forget big ben bredeson…!
sweet day in bucsland…!

If the Bucs were worried about the gossip we wouldn’t have signed him. Obviously the guy has rare skills. One year prove it deal and he’ll show us what kind of competitor we’ve got. Alot of upside to this signing. We shall see.

hes 30 years old and never resigned with the same team once in his career. so hes here for a year – which is still nice.

I like the signing but we still need more help on defense. A couple LB and another edge rusher. Also get rid of Dean and get a CB not made of glass please. We need people who can stay on the field.

Love it if the guy takes the opportunity to get in the best shape of his life and uses this year to get 12 plus sacks to get that big payday next year!

he has the opportunity to become a jpp or simeon here…
i didn’t say he will…but the opportunity is there…
and he knows it

The prove it contract is the only thing that makes this a smart move. Maybe he produces if he’s trying to get another, bigger bag next year. Having a background with Todd is a plus.
Could help, probably won’t hurt so 👍🏼

I bet nobody in the national media will have the gall to place any team above the Bucs in NFCS rankings this season.
6-8 players away from a complete team. At least 5 coming from the draft.
2 – ILB
2 – CB
1 – Edge
1 – DT
1 – OL
1 – WR

So where does he play? Does he come in for Hall on passing downs, or take Diaby’s or Braswell’s spot? Or a little bit of all of them?
March 10th, 2025 at 1:11 pm
More importantly, will he also play the run? We had a very good pass rusher a few years ago who (in the regular season) took running plays off. Like the French treat August, he wanted nothing to do with it.

Jack the D-Line is essentially 5. Braswell will rotate in
Edge – Reddick
DT – Kancey
NT – Vea
DT – Hall
Edge – YaYa

How many sacks last year? 0? Great signing lol

What an incredible ‘early negotition day’ of free agency 2025 … Reddick, Godwin, DJ Clark & Bredeson. That just cleared us to literally draft all defense this year if we wanrt to. And that may be exactly what we need to do to fix our defense and develop some depth.
Rnd 1 – ILB or Edge or DT/NT or CB (BPA of those 4)
Rnd 2 – ILB or Edge or DT/NT or CB (BPA not drafted yet)
Rnd 3 – ILB or Edge or DT/NT or CB (BPA not drafted yet)
Rnd 4 – ILB or Edge or DT/NT or CB (BPA not drafted yet)
Rnd 5 – BPA
Rnd 7 – BPA

Drama aside from this past offseason with the Jets…When his name was first floated around last offseason, and JBF was gushing over him, I looked him up and I found him to be incredibly undersized for his position, it’s no wonder he was drafted at ILB in the first round, because there was no way he was going to get drafted in the first as a OLB/DE.
Unless you’re incredibly special, given his lack of true physical attributes to be an OLB/DE, let’s hope he’s got a sizeable bag of tricks as a pass rusher.

This is great. Reddick must give the DC confidence he can cover Chris Olave.
Jason is making awesome moves. GM of the century. Hold your man accountable to produce, Jason.

But, who is DJ Clark? He’s not a Buc. Nor is DJ Chark. But a good day for Jason Licht with Bredeson, our CG14 and Reddick the soon-to-be new starting deep middle safety.

Draft best available players and don’t reach based on needs. You can never have too much depth in this league, remember when Godwin went down, Evans was out and McMillan was learning. Remember when all of the DB’s went down last year. You can never have too many good players. Best available player should always win out over reaching for potential from a small school. Thats fine with offensive lineman later in the draft or backup linebackers but if there are good WR, DB’s or edge rushers, those are premium positions other than QB that you need to win. Stay with the most important positions, be patient and find your Jalen McMillans and Bucky Irwins, wherever they are, no matter what you need.
