Bucs And Dolphins Swap Linebackers (Sort Of)

March 13th, 2025

Gone.

Don’t see this very often. At about the same time, the Bucs lost a linebacker to Miami but the Bucs signed a linebacker from Miami.

Per the blistered fingers of Adam Schefter, BSPN NFL guru, former Bucs linebacker K.J. Britt signed with the Dolphins. The Bucs signed Anthony Walker.

An eight-year veteran by way of Northwestern, Walker started eight games for his hometown Dolphins last year after stints with Indianapolis and Cleveland. For three years with the Colts and one year with the Browns, Walker was a starting middle linebacker.

Walker’s best year in the NFL came in 2019 with the Colts when he had 124 tackles.

Britt was exposed last year. In 2023, Britt looked like a solid linebacker. But last year as a full-time starter, he got roasted in the pass game.

Joe felt bad for the guy. Britt is a smart dude with the heart of a lion. You put that heart and head into Devin White’s body, you’d have a Hall of Fame player.

Joe thinks Britt will make a good coach, a really good coach, someday. He’s just not a quality starting linebacker.

  1. BucDawg Says:

He might do better away from Bowles Swiss cheese scheme.

  2. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Don’t know much about this guy….but we definitely need to draft a MLB in rounds 1 or 2……the other pick should be a CB.

  3. Steven007 Says:

Walker is a quality linebacker. This is an upgrade.

  4. Simeon4HOF Says:

Guess it’s him over Bryce Hall and T. Thomas and Josh Hayes

  5. Jack Burton Mercer Says:

Maybe Britt should have just done pass rush.

  6. destinjohnny Says:

never had the speed. who’s idea we it to go with him over White?

  7. Joe Says:

    White.

  8. #1bucsfan Says:

That’s a perfect way to say it Joe about DW45. Basically he was a Winston. All the talent and but wasn’t right up stairs

  9. Statguy Says:

Tykee Smith doesn’t need to move to safety he needs to move to LB in sub nickel

  10. BillyBucco Says:

Looking more and more like Emmanwori might just be the pick.

  11. SlyPirate Says:

Doubt either of today’s signings make the cut.

  12. Aqualung Says:

Nobody is worse than Britt in pass coverage.

Glad Todd played him in pass coverage so much.

  13. PoundTheRock Says:

The dreaded 2021 draft class! The all-backup class. Only Kyle Trask remains on team….and guess what he is a backup.

The 2021 draft was almost as bad as the 2016 disaster.

Kj wanted to be a starter, he tried and well kinda stunk… Anthony Walker isn’t expecting to start. That’s where we might win!

For me though from my experience, watching tape and play-style I see pros , and cons from this outcome.

Biggest pro: Walker is willing to play ST.
Biggest Con: I don’t think he is going to be as impressive on ST as we all may think. Tbh may not even make the roster if he can’t be the best ST ace we need.

Deion Jones is coming in and going to compete at ILB.
Also Walker makes ILB position more competitive, makes guys have to work harder for the job.

I like what we have done before the draft and you know what we’re gonna do a lot more also. Yes :)))

  15. ThatAintRight! Says:

Emmanwori the safety is a very possible player we should investigate more.

I like and trust The idea of Tykee Smith being moved to Safety, but I also am not against the idea of him staying at slot CB.

Have some talented hidden athletic safeties in this class and we may need to look into the idea of one.

I am more worried about Thomas and our ST unit though. Tavierre is a huge loss. Ughhhh

  16. Larrd Says:

Someone has to call the defense, which is a lot to expect from a rookie. Walker can call plays I bet. Nortwestern and lots of experience.

  17. Fred McNeil Says:

#1bucsfan, I don’t think it’s fair to compare DW45 to Jaymiss. Both were Talented. Both were NFL failures. White was not a degenerate like Winston.

  18. Simeon4HOF Says:

Meant to post guess it’s the Corner over Hayes, B. Hall, and Thomas

  19. Creamsicle Says:

Heart of a lion, yes. Smart? Not sure there’s much evidence to back that up

  20. BucsBeBack (Artist formally known as: BringBucsBack) Says:

    D. White was also putrid in pass coverage (and tackling, diagnoseing a play, taking angles, controlling his momentum, maturity, maintaining a positive attitude, wanting to be on the team that drafted him and paid him well etc…) and our defensive coordinator made him the team captain over LVD!?

  21. Chris Says:

Joe thinks Britt will make a good coach, a really good coach, someday. He’s just not a quality starting linebacker.

I think Todd Bowles will make a good Defensive Coordinator again someday, He’s just not a quality starting HC .

  22. garro Says:

To be fair I am certain that Bowles put this dude in a no win situation. His scheme makes it next to impossible for anyone but the finest and fastest to play it. Every time Bowles sends someone it makes someone else have to pick up the slack.

DCs have figured out how to attack our defense…Period. I for one do not put it on the LBs alone.
Add to that that we cover no one on the back end and we can’t get off the field!

    Go Bucs!
