Creed Humphrey Calls Tristan Wirfs “Freak Of All Freaks”
February 2nd, 2025So Chiefs All-Pro center and three-time Pro Bowler Creed Humphrey was asked to name his four best offensive linemen in the NFL.
There was no call to choose tackles or guard or centers; Creed simply picked his four best linemen at any position.
At No. 4 on his chart, after Eagles right tackle Lane Johnson, Chiefs guard Joe Thuney (who’s been playing some tackle this season) and Lions right tackle Penei Sewell, Humphrey turned his attention to the Bucs’ left tackle, Tristan Wirfs.
After being named an All-Pro last month, Wirfs is now the first player in NFL history to be a first-team All-Pro at right tackle and at left tackle.
“A freak athlete, freak of all freaks, man,” Humphrey said of Wirfs on CBS Sports HQ. “You know, switching from right side to left side — not missing a beat doing that, playing at an All-Pro level, he’s just a stud in the pass game and run game, as well.”
Joe loves to hear the Wirfs accolades from players with no known bias. He is a freak.
Also, Joe is always intrigued by Humphries. He was selected one pick before Kyle Trask in Round 2 of the 2021 NFL Draft.
Bucs history may have drastically changed if it were Tampa Bay that found Humphrey in their lap. The Bucs drafted center Robert Hainsey in the following round.

Freak indeed. 8 days a week
Go Bucs!

Wirfs is indeed amazing. A great team mate too and an under-rated competitor (I’m thinking when he defended Bake in a scuffle late in the season).
I’m not playing the draft what-if game because there are so many moving parts…. Another what-if? What if Carbs was Hainsey’s coach during his rookie and subsequent years instead of Harold Goodwin? Hainsey is a FA, I’d like to keep him.

And he’s not just a freak athletically, he is a class act. I notice I say that more and more about Buc’s players. JL/TB have taken “culture” to a new high!
Wirfs is bonded with the man whose backside he protects and according to reports his wife and Baker’s wife also get along very well. It probably also says something about Baker that he ID’s with his OL. Yeah they protect him but as Brady knew the targets are his bread and butter. I think Baker just relates more to the OL work ethic and lack of prima donnas.
@D.R. CONGRATULATIONS!!! So glad to hear your procedure(s) went well!!!
You are correct that I along with my wife have had heart issues. I was lucky I had a type II attack (only 15% compared to the 85% caused by blockages).
Since mine was just spasms and not blockage and my EKG showed no muscle damage I got off easy.
My wife OTOH had open heart to repair a Mitral valve. In the hospital for nine days after the surgery.
Now you get the fun of Cardiac rehab and I say that sincerely without any snark or teasing. IF you’re lucky/blessed whatever, like me to enjoy exercise then Cardiac rehab is awesome! Nurses monitor everything so you can let er rip…unless they calm you down.
Bottom line…all three of us realize that life is a day at a time and my meditation even focuses on RIGHT NOW. This is all we have for sure. RIGHT NOW.
jjoe likes Van Halen. Perhaps more David than Sammy but I like both and Sammy was the front man for my all time favorite Van Halen song.
‘RIGHT NOW”
hey
It’s your tomorrow
(Right now),
C’mon, it’s everything
(Right now),
Catch a magic moment, do it
Right here and now
It means everything

Guy is unique on so many levels. Can’t help noticing is weight and muscle distribution. Equally proportioned between is his upper and lower body. Generally guys (of his size) carry the bulk of weight in their upper body. Not him, that cat has tree trunks for thighs. Matching perfectly his build above the waist and below the waist. He kinda looks like a giant rectangle playing tackle. Admittedly, a strange sort of observation. But you don’t often see guys with that sort of “perfect” upper and lower matching build like that. What the hell am I talking about?

haha, and i remember pushing for us to draft him…and Mr. Lynch did us a solid!

LG in the 2nd round.
Get the best LG in the draft.
Donât mess around anymore.
Barton is proof you pick sure fire picks in the 1st and 2nd round.
Braswell was a dumb pick. We should have drafted a LG last year in the 2nd.

Unfortunately the (by far) best guard in the draft is Tyler Booker, and he’s definitely going in the first round, AND the team picking right before us definitely needs OG so it would necessitate trading up. This draft is really light on top end talent, I expect Licht will trade down from 19. I hear the Bucs really like Jihaad Campbell, he’s like a front 7 chess piece.

And to think he was the last of the big 4 OL to be picked that year.

I’m a “Van Wilder” fan and no one is wilder than Tristan “WORF” Wirfs

Agreed. Need to look back at that draft. Iâm a Gator and did not like that pick. 4th round? Maybe. Trask is a gamer and can make throws but release is too long (think Leftwich). Also doesnât have the feet in pocket to extend.

Also agree with BC Bucs. Did not like the Braswell pick. Was a reach pick for need.
February 2nd, 2025 at 4:24 pm
Too many defensive deficiencies. Can address OG through free agency. Can go best player available defensively, we need every level. Wonât be a reach.

Heâs a stud.
Man I wanted Jared Verse so badly last draftâŚ

I remember all the draft pundits saying Wirf was the best OL in the draft and he fell to us, great job to trade up to prevent another team from grabbing him that was on the rumor mill. I wouldn’t trash the Braswell pick just yet.

Wirfs is the best o lineman in the NFL. What a building block.

Jason deff got 2 hall of fame players ME13 TW78 and if AW31 can get back healthy and to his play making ways man he might just have 3 HOF picks

Excellent kudos from Humphrey. Good to hear too. Tristan is awesome!
