With The 19th Pick In The 2025 NFL Draft …
January 13th, 2025The Bucs now have an official NFL Draft slot, per NFL.com. It’s No. 19.
Considering the Bucs will have flexibility in free agency this year, and could create more, the Bucs’ direction in late April is certainly unknown.
The needs are clear, but prioritizing them now is difficult. But hey, that’s the fun of the offseason.
Of course, so much of the Bucs’ course will be determined by Lavonte David’s decision on continuing his career.
Left guard Ben Bredeson is sure to be a priority in free agency, but Joe is sure Buccaneers Ring of Honor general manager Jason Licht will have a cash line in the sand.
And then there’s stud receiver Chris Godwin. He may not be able to work out full throttle for another two months at least. The Bucs certainly have a significant decision there.

Trade-up for Jalon Walker, UGA.
January 13th, 2025 at 12:04 pm
Give Cleveland our 1st pick. And ask for Myles Garrett DE. Dudes a Beast. He is unhappy with the Browns.
January 13th, 2025 at 12:04 pm
rounds 1, 2, 3, 5, 6 and 7 DEFENSE
round 4 wide receiver.
January 13th, 2025 at 12:07 pm
They need talent on defense so bad. ILB (2 of them), CB, Edge…
January 13th, 2025 at 12:08 pm
Priorities: DE, LB, CB
January 13th, 2025 at 12:08 pm
Trade for Myles Garrett from the Browns, or Maxx Crosby of the Raiders. We need an edge rush in the worst way.
January 13th, 2025 at 12:10 pm
Get rid of Dean. Has Winfield turned into Carlton Davis after collecting his cash? Many needs on defense.
January 13th, 2025 at 12:10 pm
Even if we get some veterans in FA, we still need depth at DE, LB, and CB.
January 13th, 2025 at 12:10 pm
Secondary help. Linebacker help. Absolute priorities. If we can cover receivers, the sacks will come.
January 13th, 2025 at 12:10 pm
I see we have the 20th pick
January 13th, 2025 at 12:11 pm
Too soon for me to even delve into the draft…but…I probably won’t anyway. Just going to trust our GM.
But…I would like to see us get healthier and better on defense.
I could live with a one year deal to bring back Godwin…so long as we don’t overpay. Gotta see how he recovers from his injury. But more likely, he has played his final Bucs game.
January 13th, 2025 at 12:12 pm
You don’t get Garrett or Crosby with the 19th pick and there are too many holes to fill to give up any more.
More likely to deal 19 for multiple 2s, 3s and 4s.
January 13th, 2025 at 12:13 pm
pewter941 Says
“I see we have the 20th pick”
Which means we’ll pick anywhere from 17 to 20 knowing Jason Licht. He tends to trade up a couple spots when he wants a certain player.
January 13th, 2025 at 12:19 pm
No plan 9 or 90 plz
January 13th, 2025 at 12:23 pm
Agree 100 percent @ Mike Johnson, give Cleveland our 19th pick for Garrett. Dude is a Monster, under contract for 2 more years and would change our D immediately. At 29 , he’s got 4-5 more years in his prime.
January 13th, 2025 at 12:26 pm
We don’t have a 6th round pick at this time
January 13th, 2025 at 12:27 pm
No plan 9 or 90 plz
January 13th, 2025 at 12:27 pm
Any good DCs in the draft?
What about scheme?
What players fit the feast or famine scheme?
January 13th, 2025 at 12:28 pm
I seconded Mike Johnsons trade , this years first and next years 3rd for Garrett!
January 13th, 2025 at 12:29 pm
@ Davenport,
you get Garrett for the 19th pick from Cleveland because they are 25 million over the cap next year before the resign /sign any players or draft pick. Deshaun Watson just tore his Achilles again for the second time in 3 months screwing around in Miami. The Raiders have no reason to trade Crosby as they have around 100 million in cap space and don’t need to move Crosby unless someone gives them a home run deal with multiple Number 1’s.
January 13th, 2025 at 12:30 pm
Cleveland isn’t letting Garrett go.
Vegas isn’t letting Crosby go.
January 13th, 2025 at 12:38 pm
lots of holes for such a “great” gm
January 13th, 2025 at 12:40 pm
Similar to 2019-2020. We have another window to push the chips all in. Godwin is a must, Hainsey for depth, and most importantly LVD! Hitting on this draft class is a must with a pass rusher, ILB, and Corner. We were the better team last night but it’s so hard to beat the opposing team and ourselves.
January 13th, 2025 at 12:42 pm
Number one need is an EDGE rusher. Number two is best available for an inside LB or a cornerback. Number three is the position we don’t get in for the second pick. The Bucs have great/good talent at QB, RB, TE, OLine, WR, PK, and the Safety. The draft shouldn’t be all about defense, but in should concentrate on it. Also, if we are going to run and run and run, how about a true FULLBACK?
Hopefully, Godwin’s contract can be extended and reworked to create an additional $10 million in cap space.
January 13th, 2025 at 12:42 pm
Cleveland needs to get value for Garrett because he’ll be on his last legs by the time any window could possibly open for the Browns. The idea that trading him may upset their fanbase is irrelevant, as the fanbase couldnt be more unhappy than they currently are.
That being said, 18 teams with better draft picks know this too.
January 13th, 2025 at 12:46 pm
I don’t think it gonna matter with who we draft on defense if the Bucs don’t figure out how to develop them. We’ve had multiple DEs and CBs drafted over the pass few drafts with the same results. A few draftees have shown positive development only to regress and half of the time they don’t remain with the team. I understand Bowles is loyal to his assistant coaches but just tweak the staff a little, move them around or bring in some one to help.
January 13th, 2025 at 12:49 pm
Every pick should be lb, corner and safety
January 13th, 2025 at 12:55 pm
A cornerback Bowles can trust in man to man for round one. DL round two and linebacker round three. DBs late.
The pass rush will be coming around with Diaby and Kancey and any edge pass rusher left at 19 will likely be “developmental” like the bums the Bucs have drafted the past five years. Sign Godwin and the receivers will be pretty set now that MacMillan has come on.
January 13th, 2025 at 1:00 pm
Trade two first round picks for Micah Parsons.
January 13th, 2025 at 1:01 pm
Glazers should approach Bowles and say he needs to get a new DC. If he refuses, then fire him like they fired Dungy when he didn’t want to fire his OC/Shula. His defense and coaching is good enough to get him beat. I knew the game was over when Washington had the ball with over 4 minutes left in the game. The defense as always let the team down. It won’t make any difference to draft and bring in new FAs on defense if he’s going to keep his outdated defensive philosophy letting WRs run wide ass open all over the field.
January 13th, 2025 at 1:03 pm
Re-sign Lavonte David
Extend Chris Godwin
Never let JTS, Hall, Britt start again
Trade for or Sign a #1 Edge
CB Round #1
ILB, S, DT, WR as Picks 2-5
Restructure some more Contracts and open Glazer Vault for further Defensive depth
Now about our DC ..
January 13th, 2025 at 1:06 pm
I don’t think we need to panic with an edge rusher. YaYa Diaby is only going to get better. I think last year’s pick, Chris Braswell will show his worth this coming season and hopefully there still is some spark in Shaq Barrett.
We should be focusing on a lock down corner to replace the often injured Dean and a speedy inside linebacker to replace the slow footed K. J. Britt.
January 13th, 2025 at 1:06 pm
First off it will take a helluva lot more than our No. 1 to get Myles Garrett. The dude is still arguably the top DE in the NFL. As dysfunctional as that organization is, they are not going to trade him for the 20th pick in the draft. No way. And for Tampa, it’s unfortunate that the entire defense is in need for an overall. If anything, Tampa needs more picks.
I look at a team like Washington and what Adam Peters and Dan Quinn did. Think about how bad the Commanders were last season. And the defense was piss poor. They were very smart with FA and obviously drafted Daniels at No. 2 but also got defensive end with Newton and Sainrstrill. Bucs need to spend wisely in FA (I havent even looked at potential targets) and use most of their draft capital on this side of the ball.
So take the BEST defensive player on the board with that first pick. So early to determine anything at this pt other than WE NEED SERIOUS HELP ON DEFENSE!
January 13th, 2025 at 1:06 pm
If they keep the pick (I like trading for Miles, Maxx, or Thibedeau), I’d draft a CB or WR. They should pick up an OLB/DE in FA. The Bucs need to stop drafting and not develop.
January 13th, 2025 at 1:08 pm
Think Yaya will be great and Braswell our #3 Edge. Need a Beast opposite #0
January 13th, 2025 at 1:08 pm
Chris Says: “Trade two first round picks for Micah Parsons.”
In your dreams……no way Dallas would trade Parsons for a pair for 1st round picks!
January 13th, 2025 at 1:09 pm
Being so draft reliant is not working.
Licht is at his best when bringing in quality veterans especially on defense.
You never know how a draft pick will turn out and very few give good results year one. It’s too big of a crap shoot for a team with a terrible defense.
Defense should absolutely be the priority in FA and the Draft.
The only problem is that the scarecrow is still at the helm.
January 13th, 2025 at 1:11 pm
(If the right Edge happens to full this year, take him. But we need a new #1 stud CB)
January 13th, 2025 at 1:15 pm
Defense defense defense. We need to be better on the line. Edge and ILB. CB
January 13th, 2025 at 1:17 pm
Middle Linebacker Round 2
January 13th, 2025 at 1:18 pm
Defense Defense Defense. We need LB, CB and Edge Rushers you know people that are not injury prone. Dean needs to be let go along with half the other scrubs on this defense. The only people that need to be kept on defense. Kancy, YAYA, Vita, David, Winfield and Mccollum. Maybe Whitehead if he can get his act together and play like he did the Super Bowl run.
January 13th, 2025 at 1:18 pm
Unless Godwin takes less than his market value, doubtful he will be back with JMac producing the way he did during the second half of this season. Deep down, I fee Godwin wants to be a part of this team and will work with our management. U fortunately, there’s a nice spot for him on the Bengals if Higgins decides not to return. We don’t need to spend much on offense, we handled that last year.
This offseason is for creating a new core of our secondary. And we will succeed. Look at our run game improvement.
January 13th, 2025 at 1:24 pm
It’s going to be very very hard to get defensive FAs here.
This scheme is literally feast or famine. Why tie your career to a coin flip every play?
Think about it.
If your a Top notch DE, do you really want to drop in coverage?
Let’s be honest. Seriously.
If your a top notch man to man CB do you want to play 10 yards off man in zone? Or blitz while a DE covers.
This scheme is nothing but random blitzes that have a coin flip chance at working.
January 13th, 2025 at 1:25 pm
Draft a clock management expert. Are you smarter than a third grader bowlsO?!????
January 13th, 2025 at 1:27 pm
With The 19th Pick In The 2025 NFL Draft The buccaneers select another talented edge rusher for Todd Bowles assistants to ruin
January 13th, 2025 at 1:28 pm
Trade for Myles garret. Draft all the DBs we can.
January 13th, 2025 at 1:30 pm
yeah gotta draft:
ilb x 2
cb
edge
trade for a top flight DE/edge to pair with yaya…
sign a good vet linebacker to go with lavonte and dennis – i’m thinking the FA in arizona, i forget his name now…
sign vet corner…
maybe even find dee delaney – never shoulda let him go
i guess let dean stay for one more year – or make him part of a trade for an edge or something…
put a ball and chin on spytek and greenberg’s ankles so they can’t go anywhere 🙂
January 13th, 2025 at 1:30 pm
put a ball and chain on spytek and greenberg’s ankles so they can’t go anywhere 🙂
January 13th, 2025 at 1:31 pm
And you think Garrett will like dropping into coverage. His numbers would be held back too
January 13th, 2025 at 1:31 pm
J.L. call T.B. trade that 19th pick for Maxx Crosby and send them Jamal Dean as a bonus
January 13th, 2025 at 1:34 pm
This team is still in straight rebuild mode. Took care of some huge holes in the offense last year. I’m sure they have a plan for defense this year. Have a few young players to build around, but they have their work cut out for them. Please stop with the over priced players at the end of their careers though. The ONLY way to get out of cap hell is to draft yourself out.
January 13th, 2025 at 1:34 pm
😄 I thought it backwards and you meant to say “chin on ball(s)…”
January 13th, 2025 at 1:39 pm
Everyone on here would spend every single pick on defense… shows they need talent on defense… but they still only blame Bowles and Litch gets a complete pass.. Zadarius Smith for a 5th rounder sounds good right about now no?
January 13th, 2025 at 1:40 pm
This Teams top priority is improving their Pass Defense by any means possible. All of the Above is needed.
January 13th, 2025 at 1:41 pm
Our biggest problem on defense is this past season’s injuries and lack of depth. Injuries happen, and the lack of depth is from paying the Brady Super Bowl Salary-Cap Tax and we’re almost through with that. No, I’m not thrilled with Bowles’ negatives. But I don’t want to replace him and lose his positives, either. The fact is, there just aren’t SB-caliber head coaches walking around asking to interview. I love Coen and hope he’s a coach here for a long time, but you people who can’t wait to make Bowles walk the plank and promote Coen are really jumping the gun. Everybody loved Todd Bowles, the Defensive Coordinator three years ago, just like everybody loves Liam Coen, the Offensive Coordinator now. No one has a clue what kind of head coach Coen might be at the NFL level. Remember the lessons of Wade Phillips and Buddy Ryan–great coordinators–not so good in the big chair. Is Coen the next Bruce Arians, or is he the next Norv Turner? I don’t know, and neither does anyone else. But would you rather have a Norv Turner as Bucs HC, or Todd Bowles? I don’t love Todd Bowles, but in the crapshoot that is the NFL head coaching carousel, I like him enough to keep him and cheer like hell for him.
Go Bucs!
January 13th, 2025 at 1:43 pm
The biggest needs:
ILB
CB
EDGE
WR
January 13th, 2025 at 2:01 pm
If you draft a CB or an EDGE player just dont let them get coached in the facility by our coaches. Let them with personal trainers.
Otherwise we will see the DBs covering 10 yds off the receivers and we will see the Edge rushers just rushing straight to the Olinemen.
January 13th, 2025 at 2:01 pm
Trade for Denzel Ward and Miles Garrett from the browns they’re going to need draft capital to rebuild.
January 13th, 2025 at 2:06 pm
I like the idea of sending the 1st round pick to the raiders for Crosby. The raiders clearly would like a Coach Prime/Shadeur/Travis Hunter stack. Let’s give them the leverage of a 1st round so they can do their tampering.
January 13th, 2025 at 2:10 pm
if you keep bowles it has to be with him giving input on defense acquisitions. if he cant do it with his choices fire him. he should be able to make do with middle of the road cornerbacks from other teams . he should be able to coach them up. same with linebackers
January 13th, 2025 at 2:12 pm
will top edge players like playing for Bowles? we have to buy edge as Licht is unable to hit on them in the draft
January 13th, 2025 at 2:32 pm
ALfred Says:
January 13th, 2025 at 12:04 pm
rounds 1, 2, 3, 5, 6 and 7 DEFENSE
round 4 wide receiver.
———————————
Ant players we draft on defense is a waste of draft picks. We already have great players at every level, and at every position, except DE and thats the position that sinks us every time. Last night we let a rookie stand in the pocket and carve us up. Cornerback coverage can last only so long.
January 13th, 2025 at 3:32 pm
Like that idea … dangle Jamel Dean just for doing a deal for an Edge, can throw in his jugs machine too
January 13th, 2025 at 3:35 pm
I would trade 2 firsts for Garrett but not with Bowles back. Don’t need to lose those assets just to watch Myles drop in coverage.
Need Lavonte, Godwin, Hainsey and whatever LG back… everything else on new D pieces, including every draft pick we have unless an offensive player falls that can’t be passed up at OL or WR/TE.
January 13th, 2025 at 3:45 pm
What are folks on here thinking? No way the Browns are trading Garret for a measly #19 pick! They dont hang up on Licht unless the conversation starts with 2 number ones and likely a 2/3 rounder. He is a sure fire Hall of Famer and one of the top pass rushers of this era who managed to get 14 sacks this year on a team that was constantly behind in games!
January 13th, 2025 at 3:49 pm
We need to draft CB, DE, LB and an upgrade at LG would be nice but we may be able to otherwise fill that with the current players on the roster.
January 13th, 2025 at 3:56 pm
Need a true OLB
Need 2 ILBs
Need a CB
Need a S
Prefer the OLB comes from free agency and is not a draft pick.
January 13th, 2025 at 4:07 pm
20th pick…here we go
Someone from Washington
Small school OT
LSU player
Punter
Auburn DB
January 13th, 2025 at 4:34 pm
I’m more interested in what we do in free agency this year. We will need to decide whom to sign among our own, but we’ll have a chance to potentially upgrade in some areas and build depth. I hope we double down on defense in the draft (though I really like the tight end from Penn State).
January 13th, 2025 at 5:25 pm
The 19th pick would be just the start for either Garret or Crosby
January 13th, 2025 at 6:30 pm
Damn we got a lot of GM’S in the comments to this post!!
January 13th, 2025 at 7:00 pm
So let’s do this in order
1. Keep your coaches and execs – Coen, Spyteck and Greenberg
2. Re-sign your players prior to Free Agency – Godwin at the right price, LVD if he wants to play. What about 1-year players who got hurt CB Hall and LG Sua Opeta? What about Dean who can’t stay on the field? Another extension for Nelson or Hainsey?
3. Sign early extensions for McCullum, Goedeke and Otton
4. Gone – JTS, Gholston, Trask, Britt unless you get a very team friendly contract for these back ups.
5. Look for a LB and CB through FA. If possible, get an Edge Rusher through a trade.
– Not a strong FA group for LB, but maybe you can get Dre Greenlaw (SF) or Elandon Robert’s (Pitt).
– Need to research CB still.
– Edge is a lot more difficult. Only the top edge rushers excel in their first year or two. So if you could trade your first round pick for Crosby or Garrett that sounds good and makes sense, but can you afford their salary? You will probably need to overpay for either of them and you can’t give up too much and create another hole.
6. Do you use the franchise tag to solve one of the above situations?
7. Draft needs are dependent on what happens above. Bucs needs Edge, ILB (2 at least), CB (2), DT and O-Line depth. WR replacement for Godwin?
8. Bucs have 1 pick each in rounds 1-5 and 7. No 6th round pick.
9. This is a deep draft at the top for WR, O-Line and DT.
10. Get the D help in the draft and FA. Bucs can win if they keep averaging 30 points a game. 1st round – Edge, 2nd round – CB, 3rd round – ILB, 4th round – DT, 5th round- OLine, 7th round – CB or ILB.
Buckle up Jason. This is going to be one busy offseason!
January 13th, 2025 at 8:02 pm
BUCCANEERS’ DEFENSE IS PATHETIC…PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!
January 13th, 2025 at 9:32 pm
On a positive note, it is so nice to not need a QB. Especially this draft. Build the D.
January 14th, 2025 at 7:04 am
to all you morons saying trade the 19th for Garrett, that is nowhere near enough to land a player of that caliber. this isn’t Madden where you can force trades. if you’re not going to pay something realistic, just shut up.
January 14th, 2025 at 7:07 am
and to everyone saying the defense is trash or pathetic, we were giving up 9 points a game in the second half over the final 6 weeks, were top 5 against the run in that span, and they were not the reason we lost to Washington. if we don’t have them the ball in the red zone with that Baker fumble, we probably only allow 16 points and win. yes we need depth, but let’s not act like the defense was bottom 5 in the league.
January 14th, 2025 at 12:54 pm
Trade:
Dean for a 4th round pick
Godwin for a 4th and 5th

==================================
Are you kidding me? Washington didn’t punt once in Sunday’s game. Bucs had 7 offensive possessions for the entre game. Bucs defense was nonexistent most of the season. A total of 7 INT’s in a season? Some teams get 4 INT’s in a single game.
January 14th, 2025 at 3:15 pm
That 9pts allowed in second half of year is complete BS. Who exactly did the Bucs play? NYG, Carolina (twice), NO, Dallas, LV and Chargers (only playoff team). And looked how they played in each of those games. Bucs actually showed up vs NYG, Charges and the second CAR game. They were listless vs NO (first half), LV (2nd and 3rd QTR), should have lost at CAR and DAL and Cooper Rush beat us on Sunday night football.
NO WAY you are giving up a No. 1 only to get MG. NO way. I just hope JL is smart with the $$$, who he decides to bring back, go after in FA… and ultimately draft.
