“Uncertainty Surrounding Todd Bowles” Makes No Sense
January 26th, 2025The math simply doesn’t add up for Joe on this take.
Over at CBS, reporter Jonathan Jones typed up a story that sort of did a roundup of the top candidates for the 11 open offensive coordinator positions.
(The competition explains why the Bucs have hit the ground running doing several interviews already.)
Jones rattled off names of guys on the Bucs’ staff who could be candidates, and guys who are known to have already interviewed. And he added a very curious if not odd paragraph that the Bucs may have trouble filling the position because “uncertainty” with Todd Bowles is spooking would-be candidates.
With uncertainty surrounding the long-term future of Todd Bowles in Tampa, some have wondered whether the Bucs will be able to get a top candidate this cycle.
This makes no sense to Joe.
Let’s just take a step back to a couple of days ago. The Bucs pitched an absolute fit because they felt backstabbed by Liam Coen as he ran off to Jacksonville. The Bucs clearly, badly, wanted him to stay and offered him a contract that would have made him the highest-paid offensive coordinator in the NFL.
As much as the Bucs begged for Coen to stay, if there was truly uncertainty with Bowles, the Bucs either would have really made it worth Coen’s time to stay or, the Bucs would have nudged Bowles to retire (or both).
Or at least the Bucs could have given Bowles a golden parachute, like, “Hey Todd, we want to move on, but here’s $10 million on top of what we already owe you as a retirement gift,” and possibly kept him the organziation like the Bucs are doing with Bucco Bruce Arians as a consultant.
If there truly was unique “uncertainty” with Bowles (nearly every coach ultimately had a degree of uncertainty), then Team Glazer already would have named Coen head coach.

January 26th, 2025 at 8:05 am
Leave it to the Bucs to screw things up. Coen should have been offered the head coach job. As a matter of fact, do it now and have him stab Jacksonville.
As a reminder, Chuckie is still out there…..
January 26th, 2025 at 8:13 am
Tony Dungy took the Bucs to the playoffs in 4 of his 6 seasons and was fired. Bowels has barely won a very weak division for 3 seasons then blew the playoffs. Bowels has plenty to worry about as does any potential coordinator.
January 26th, 2025 at 8:13 am
If Jones is in the same camp as the Joes are that Todd will be on a hot seat for next season then I can see where he’s coming from. Why would a potential OC go to the Bucs over picking a team with a new HC that would have a probable one or two year grace period to get their team going?
I lean more on the side of a potential OC looking at the last two hires and the current talent on the team and saying “put me in coach. I’m the guy to carry this on.”

January 26th, 2025 at 8:19 am
i will pray to JOBU before the championship games, for one hour, that we get the right OC in here
January 26th, 2025 at 8:23 am
Joe I agree with you. I am not a NFL personnel guy but, a lot of those big name candidates have already failed or don’t fit the offense the Bucs want to run with Mayfield Another thing the Bucs have proven is, they don’t need the big name guys , they’ve done pretty good with the under the radar guys.
January 26th, 2025 at 8:23 am
How many games this year were won due to the offense vs the poor play of the defense? If the Bucs were in any other division they would never had made the playoffs. What established O/C will come to the Bucs with Lovie Jr as head coach? The Falcons are stronger, Panthers on the rise & the Saints will rebound. That brings doubt of the Bucs having another winning season. Lovie will be gone and a NEW coaching staff will hire their own O/C.
January 26th, 2025 at 8:23 am
If the Bucs were that confident in Bowles they wouldn’t have offered Coen ridiculous OC money and they certainly wouldn’t have raised a fit when he left.
Bowles, as a result of all this, has massive pressure on him now to win. The organization won’t watch another OC come in and perform well and leave while Bowles continues to struggle building a defense and messing up time management.
Pretty naive to think Bowles isn’t under a microscope this coming season.
January 26th, 2025 at 8:32 am
I think the uncertainty is around 2026 — this coming season is huge for Bowles.
Bowles could be fired after this coming seaso.
Bowles has a high probability of being fired after this coming season.
No decent coach would want to uproot their family, leave a currently stable job situation, and risk it on what has a strong possibility of being a 1 year opportunity.
Add to that, you would be following a successful, high production OC. How can you be expected to improve on that?
Bowles isn’t a guy that i would tie myself to.
January 26th, 2025 at 8:33 am
I am certain Bucs will keep Bowles and will average about .500.
January 26th, 2025 at 8:41 am
Don’t know who Jones’s but he’s an idiot.
January 26th, 2025 at 8:48 am
“What established O/C will come to the Bucs with Lovie Jr as head coach?”
FACT CHECK – Lovie Smith’s Buc record 8-24 .250
Todd Bowles Buc record 27-24 .529
Jon Gruden’s Buc record 57-55 .509
The past two OC’s to work for TB moved UP to HC in one year. How is TB holding them back?
And so there are many reasons for Bowles hatred. Some of it justified when it comes to style. There is a reasonable debate to be had about his solution to cover up deficiencies of talent caused by Cap restraints and injury issues. Some people simply do not agree with those choices and I get that. They include people I respect like D.R. who uses actual facts! Having said that…
It’s clear that the loathing has become irrational as in the continued posting of crap like he’s Lovie. I’ve seen this more than just today! Most of the people posting that are simply sheep following the trolls down their merry path of ignorance.
Another reason is TB is NOT dynamic or entertaining with the media/public. He BORES a lot of folks. Again I get that and respect it I simply don’t think it’s an actual reason to dismiss the guy.
I’ve saved this for last! It’s real but many here will have their feefees hurt that I even bring it up. If you’re white “r” is not YOUR fault, unless you remain complicit in it’s continuance. IMHO the vast majority of folks here are NOT “r”…HOWEVER there are some FACTS to consider.
The Rooney rule came into being because Black coaches with better winning %’s than their white counterparts who KEPT their jobs were getting fired! ‘
I’ve lived through the era when black QB’s were considered “not smart enough” to be QB’s, it drove talented Warren Moon to the CFL for awhile.
And so when I read comments with DEI and Rooney rule in them you tell me what I’m supposed to think.
And so IMHO there is a significant %, the minority for sure, but perhaps some of the loudest trolls amongst us who dislike TB for as GG says “ahem”.
Look at the FACTUAL records above and tell me why people are so desperate to smear TB with lies. NOT ALWAYS “R”!!! I get that. But if it’s 10-20% who are motivated to concoct every NEGATIVE argument ya gotta wonder why, especially if they’re posting comments that say TBs job is connected to DEI or the Rooney rule! I’m open to a different explanation of how the “Rooney rule or DEI fits into discussing TB?
January 26th, 2025 at 8:49 am
I have to respectfully disagree Joe. Todd’s supremacy over the NFC south is not as outstanding as some here see it. Yes the bucs are in a soft rebuild but every other team in the south were in hard resets. We won the division 3 times in a row but was that because Todd masterfully guided us or was it more a product of circumstance. I don’t hate Todd, I don’t know him but I do know what he has done as a head coach over a course of many years. Liam Coen did things this past season that no offensive coordinator has ever done yet there are some here who think he can easily be replaced. I doubt that. What really gets at me is how Todd rose to power…Brady unretired and bam Bruce Retired…did Brady not want to play for Arians ??? Why didn’t the Glazers di more to keep Liam around other than just throwing cash. They couldn’t promote Todd to assistant gm? I’m sure the haters will be out to flame me and call me names but just trying to explain how some outside the bucs bubble are looking at the situation. Todd’s long term future isn’t set in stone
January 26th, 2025 at 8:58 am
There’s 100% certainty that the Bucs will never make a championship Sunday like this one as long as Bowels is the coach.
Adapt or die. The NFL has figured out Bowles weak defensive scheme.
Unless 28-27 gets you all warm and fuzzy inside.
And 1-3 in the playoffs is grounds to fire any coach.
Fire Bowles now!!!
January 26th, 2025 at 9:12 am
The Glazers had no intentions of paying Coen what Khan is paying the Head Coach of their franchise!! Bowles is only making $3 million plus some incentives that’s the neighborhood the Glazers have grown accustomed too! They want their cake and they want to eat comfortably
January 26th, 2025 at 9:20 am
Sadly I agree with this. The Glazers arent very football savvy and they dont see all the nuances of the HC position that he is terrible at. Like most of his cheerleader fan boys all they see is the stat line with 3 division titles and think thats all due to the Super Todd. Until the division isnt so bad, we are stuck with him.
January 26th, 2025 at 9:23 am
Should have let Bowles go and promote Cohen to HC..
If you just base this on how did he do as a DC the last couple of years, how would you grade him out.. I give him C+ over the course of the season.. You don’t owe him anything for making the correct move which was right in front of you…
January 26th, 2025 at 9:31 am
Actually, I would think the opposite to be true. If a new OC comes in and performs as well as Coen did & the D performs about the same, I would think that OC would possibly find himself in a great position to take over.
January 26th, 2025 at 9:35 am
Last NFC team to win a Super Bowl, Tampa. Defensive coordinator: Todd Bowles.
January 26th, 2025 at 9:39 am
Math doesn’t add up on that train of thought.
Bucs are a perfect canvas for a nobody to showcase their play calling talent. Someone remind me what the last two nobodies did after a year of showcasing their play calling?
January 26th, 2025 at 9:42 am

January 26th, 2025 at 9:43 am
Wow Joe really believes in Bowles
But Many don’t to include Fans, commentator and other coaches
What does Joe See?
January 26th, 2025 at 9:45 am
Todd Bowles has been a head coach in the NFL for seven full seasons.
At 10-6, his first season with the Jets, he recorded his best season ever.
Since then his teams have lost 11,11,12,9,8 and 7 games.
Today, the last four teams play for two spots in the Super Bowl. The team with the worst record is Washington with five losses, a record Bowles has never achieved.
In other words, in league where coaches have been fired with far better career records, why the love for Bowles?
In three seasons with the Bucs, coaching in the worst division in football, he has managed to go 27-24.
Dan Quinn took Atlanta to a Super Bowl, was fired a couple of years later, and now has Washington to within one game of another Super Bowl in his first season.
Yeah, where would he be without the greatness of Daniels?
But doesn’t Bowles have his own greatness in Mayfield?
Most here think so.
So, why hasn’t Bowles won more games?
January 26th, 2025 at 9:46 am
If Bowles is so good at defense then why aren’t his staff being poached for HC jobs? 2 OCs are now HCs. No one from his staff is a HC in the league. Tells me enough of what the issue is. Bowles should be rotating his staff due to opportunities for them and bringing in fresh new talent. Instead, he sticks to what he knows and now the defense is predictable. In this league you either change or die.

Buddha Says:

Last NFC team to win a Super Bowl, Tampa. Defensive coordinator: Todd Bowles.
————————-
That says it all. Period. List and Bowles are focusing on getting staff positions filled so they can concentrate on the players for the 2025 season. Bucs will be scary good. I stand by that prediction. Looking forward to the Philly-Washington game today. Thank god, kickoff doesn’t start at midnight EST. I wonder if the Eagle crowd will riot and put on a show getting kicked out of the stadium?
January 26th, 2025 at 9:59 am
I’m no fan of Bowles, and my gut feeling is we are stuck in a Bengals /Marvin Lewis type cycle (at best) with him. As a fan I too would have preferred the team gave Bowles an early retirement incentive and rolling the dice on Cohen as our next HC, but looking at things objectively I don’t see how Bowles has done a bad job result-wise (plus the poor optics terminating him likely would have created in the national sports media). There’s a difference between Bowles winning three multiple division titles and going 1-3 in the postseason with a young team clawing it’s way out of salary cap Hell vs. the vet heavy team like Dungy had (or Arians had) that had gone all in to win now before the window for keeping their vet star players together closes. That said I believe Todd’s seat has to be Chinese wok hot if he misses the playoffs (or even gets bounced in the first round) next year.

I agree with stpetebucsfan. It’s hard to argue with the numbers. People loved Jon Gruden but not many remember that the NFC South was no better at that time than it is now.

“Last NFC team to win a Super Bowl, Tampa. Defensive coordinator: Todd Bowles.”
As always a great point!!!
Most here are sadly not up to your posting and critical thinking Buddha.
So I read crap like this…”The Glazers arent very football savvy”
Most fans in other cities with the obvious exception of a few like KC, Pitt, SF?
Would kill to have owners so lacking in “football savvy”.
That “lack of savvy” has brought a SB and a few years with the GOAT for which the Glazers spent out the wazoo way over the CAP. IE They spent MORE $$$ than they HAD to! And again for those who care about RESULTS.
A SB, one of four franchises in the past decade! Four consecutive Division titles!
But apparently WINNING does not satisfy some here.
January 26th, 2025 at 10:36 am
Hopefully, he will get fired during his annual 0-4 run this year.
January 26th, 2025 at 11:00 am
Bring back Gruden, he still available. Push Bowles out the door and bring chuckie back.
January 26th, 2025 at 11:00 am
2025 is going to be a wasted season for the Bucs unless the owners already have an idea who they want as their next HC in 2026!
January 26th, 2025 at 11:13 am
This fan base don’t know what they want you want Todd out I understand that but you guys are still going to bet for Cohen. The guy is a snake. I got more respect for Dave Canales because he said what he was gonna do. I’m gonna go take an interview. he went to go take their interview then he got a job. I wanna try to backtrack to a guy that dis us on national TV radio media you guys are so backwards what would’ve happened when he became head coach he would distance us again.
January 26th, 2025 at 11:24 am
If the Bucs were in any other division Bowles would have been fired long ago. I don’t like 4th and goal and going for the tie. I don’t like soft coverage on pass plays. I don’t like poor clock management, and I don’t like watching a WR go uncovered for a 70 yard TD to seal the win. Our pass defense has been a joke for years, and not just because of injuries. The Bucs were once known for their defense. It’s hard watching the team finally get a great offense, only to be handicapped by the worst pass defense in the league. Thad Lewis should be the OC for a smooth transition. The Bucs desperately need a DC specialized in pass defense. The players love Bowles, so let him focus on clock management and other things he needs to improve.
January 26th, 2025 at 11:26 am
And they also brought many many years of basement finishes because they have no idea what a good coach looks like.
Yes, they got brought in the goat. Wow. You have to be so incredibly smart to bring in the greatest QB of all time to help you win. Genius move there. (Sarcasm for the cheerleaders)
All you do is cry like a little girl. Funny part is I wasnt even insulting them. They dont know much about football. Their history proves it. But of course you need to cry about something to prove to everyone you are the most SUPER super fan there is. LMAO. Keep twerking St Pete. Again, it doesnt make you special.
January 26th, 2025 at 11:32 am
St Pete——
Please read my comment about six or seven above yours.
Obviously, we have two definitions of the term, “winning.”
Again please, logically, sell me on Todd Bowles.
January 26th, 2025 at 11:36 am
Yah. Some of you think a snake would be our good HC. I think we have one with integrity and the calm demeanor that made us a winning team. Think of all the adversity Todd went through with injuries and hurricane (the Glazers financing an incredible move to NO) and CAP and losing OC’s and who knows what else. NOT every team gets a chance to play in a Super Bowl, but we did and WON. Every coach makes some mistakes. I am all for keeping our coach, although getting another defensive coordinator would be welcome news. PLUS I would never promote any first-year OC to any HC job.
January 26th, 2025 at 11:38 am
There are murmurings under the covers that one of the reasons El Serpiente decided to take the job in Jaxoff was, he’d seen enough of the soft and weak pass defense unable to hold a lead or close out a game in the 4th quarter, believing if he were running the defense as well as offense, he could do a better job. Tired of feeling the pressure of putting up 32 points or else lose. Therefore he is now the head coach of the Baguars.
January 26th, 2025 at 11:52 am
Wouldn’t it make it more desirable to some? I agree Joe, doesn’t make much sense.
An OC should be thinking, if I can come in there and reproduce what Coen did but the team overall doesn’t improve, the D stays a weakness despite a ton of offseason resources put into it.. I could be HC of the Bucs 2026.
If I do reproduce the production on offense and the D and team improves overall, I could be looking at a shot at a SB.
It’s a win win.
January 26th, 2025 at 12:00 pm
Bowels ceiling is NFCS crown WITH 3 weak teams {He should have dominated as bad as they were If he were some great HC} and with a top 3 OC he can ride on their coat tail and it looks like the Bucs winning NFCS is closing shut….
Bowels days as a Buc is dwindling down and coming to an end…
He gone, just don’t know it yet!
January 26th, 2025 at 12:16 pm
One thing that does make sense — anyone coming in to interview for the Bucs OC job will have some questions of their own. At the top,of that list of questions would be, “Coach, what are your plans to fix the pillow soft and weak pass defense that made Kirk Cousins, Cooper Rush and Aiden O’Connell look like Dan Marino?”
“Hope for no injuries” is a bad answer.
January 26th, 2025 at 12:18 pm
Coen will betray his players and assistant coaches. He will create a culture of blame and scapegoating, I’m sure all of you would welcome that because he’s the newest toy for you to break then blame the Glaser’s.
January 26th, 2025 at 12:38 pm
I don’t think when Bowles retires, he should be kept as a consultant–ughhh, the opposite is better
January 26th, 2025 at 12:54 pm
“then why aren’t his staff being poached for HC jobs? 2 OCs are now HCs. No one from his staff is a HC”
Just for clarification because I’ve read this more than once. OC’s ARE part of Todd’s staff. He PICKED them and he MANAGED them! There are NO DC’s on Todd’s staff currently because he holds that position himself.
JA I’ll answer respectfully. I read your post and thought about responding but I’ve probably already worn out my welcome here and my response would require some perspective.
Perspective – Woody NEPO Baby Johnson’s franchise is such a major cluster f…
That NOBODY has won there since Rex Ryan EXCEPT for Bowles. So you post his numbers, I look at the ALL the numbers as in what did other coaches do in that situation. HE WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO WON!!! So I get trying to drag the Jets into it but at least mention that…only fair right?
Sticking to the Bucs Bowles has now won a higher % of his games than all but two of the Bucs 13 HC’s and a higher % than Chucky. So logically if Bowles sucks doesn’t that mean every coach except BA and TD also suck?
Then there’s Lovie who clearly did not cut it as the Bucs HC but…
Voted NFL’s Coach of the Year in 2005, Smith led his team to a division title in only his second season with Chicago. He’s travelled the road to the Super Bowl twice in his career, once as the defensive coordinator for the St. Louis Rams in 2001 and in 2006 as head coach for the Chicago Bears.
The reason I was not swayed by your efforts was a lack of perspective and nuance. But I give you major props for at least trying to post “facts” to back your point.
As for Quinn I’ve always liked him. IF someone wishes to argue he’s better than Bowles you can make a case. As to his firing…he had a franchise QB and a loaded team talent wise, got to the SB and surrendered the biggest lead in SB history. It WAS Brady and I think Quinn got scapegoated.
BTW If Jason has even half the draft we hope for of defensive guys this year and Baker and most of the D stay relatively healthy I agree with Jjoe that 10 games minimum and the playoffs are required for Todd to hold his job.
January 26th, 2025 at 12:59 pm
I’d really like to know what makes people think Coen is going to be a good head coach. The responsibilities are a lot different than being a Coordinator. Canales had a great personality and so you can see him doing a great job of representing the organization. Running the team is whole different ball of wax, and it’s way too early to judge him on performance. Coen did great operating the talented Bucs offense. How he will do managing the whole team will take years to determine. Bowles does things that make me angry at times, but I can’t complain about where the team is. What I can complain about is the defense, and he runs that. So, Todd while you’re searching for a new OC, think about getting a new DC as well.
January 26th, 2025 at 1:07 pm
BTW perhaps I need to provide a dramatic comparison so folks can see what perpective and nuance mean.
Michael Spinks was the Light Heavyweight Champion of the world and a good boxer. He face Mike Tyson in his prime and was CRUSHED IN 91 seconds.
Is anybody here prepared to say that Spinks had an awful trainer and horrid coaching and preparation. Or is it more true to say he was totally outclassed frm the beginning and probably only stepped into the ring for a big payday. He cowered and ran the entire 90+seconds. Again poor coaching?
Athletes (football players) compete, coaches coach. While I do fear bad coaching that does not get the most out of talent, I do not expect coaches to make chicken salad out of chicken spit! See Bowles and the J E T S!
January 26th, 2025 at 1:27 pm
Let’s put it this way – How many NFL coaches (if at the helm of this team for the past three years) would NOT have won three NFC south championships?
January 26th, 2025 at 1:58 pm
Lefty
10 of 13 means there’s a SEVENTY FIVE % chance that they would not have if you go by Bucs history.
This includes a guy we like to ridicule Lovie Smith
Lovie who clearly did not cut it as the Bucs HC but…
Voted NFL’s Coach of the Year in 2005, Smith led his team to a division title in only his second season with Chicago. He’s travelled the road to the Super Bowl twice in his career, once as the defensive coordinator for the St. Louis Rams in 2001 and in 2006 as head coach for the Chicago Bears.
January 26th, 2025 at 2:05 pm
So stpetebucsfan are you saying Quinn is Tyson and Bowles is Spinks if so we don’t want the lightweight champ the NFL is where heavyweights fight.
January 26th, 2025 at 2:10 pm
As far as Coen, personally assign MUCH more of the blame for this fiasco at the Glazers & Licht for failing to read the situation properly. It’s obvious they considered him HC material or they wouldn’t have tried to make him the highest paid OC in the NFL to avoid having him pursue a HC oppt in Jax. When they supposedly asked him what needs to happen for him to stay, was he supposed to tell them to fire Bowles so he could replace him? The dude is actively interviewing elsewhere, that should tell you the answer to that question. Actually think they WERE willing to move on from Bowles, but were trying to avoid the awkward situation by kicking the decision to next season & give Coen another year to develop. Believe the reason they were SO pissed is because they never got the oppt to make the right call before Coen re-engaged with Jax. The fact that the Glazers & Licht evidently were unwilling to make the correct decision in the first place tells me they’ve become comfortable with division championships being enough, which doesn’t portend well for the future unfortunately. Crazy that they both seem to completely underestimate the talent on this roster that’s being held back by Bowles & his subpar D staff.
January 26th, 2025 at 2:17 pm
With all due respect, perhaps you’d like to give us a list of coaching candidates crushing it in W/L %, who you think would be good options.
Regarding kissing your cousin… Don’t knock it til you’ve tried it 🤣
January 26th, 2025 at 2:20 pm
The fact that as of now Bowles is on the final year of his deal it makes sense. Bucs have a 5th year option for Bowles, and haven’t even picked that up yet, so yeah he’s on thin ice. Also who wants the pressure as OC having to score whenever you briefly get the ball? Who wants to be strapped to the 31st ranked defense? A defense that rarely forces a turnover, and let’s rookie QBs punk them? Todd seat might as well be on the sun it’s that hot!!
January 26th, 2025 at 2:20 pm
A Jags writer said that the AFC (yes, that’s an A) South is “arguably the weakest” division in the NFL. Maybe that’s what attracted Coen after his year in the rugged NFC South.
January 26th, 2025 at 3:02 pm
Most, if not ALL of them.
The Bucs were predicted to suck….. period.
4-5-6 wins was supposed to be our ceiling this year and last wasn’t it ?
We exceed expectations and that doesn’t matter at all ?

January 26th, 2025 at 3:29 pm
Here we go again 😂
January 26th, 2025 at 3:50 pm
Yeah, Cohen wasn’t going to wait around on the BUCS (“strong arm” comment). And, went with the SURE thing in JAX and having the opportunity in having a major ‘voice’ in naming HIS next GM, & etc. The BUCS had their chance and they BLEW-IT. Cohen was not even going to allow THEM the chance to counter with THEIR updated offer of promoting him to be the new Bucs HC. There was only ONE-REASON, that the BUCS were so desperately trying’ to reach-out to COHEN on that day. PERIOD. Cause otherwise, WHY would they care… They already had their chance to put THEIR best offer out there to HIM, & they did. Wasn’t good enough, so HE looked elsewhere, & then BOLTED. And, IF the Bucs really, truly ‘believe-in’ in Bowles as the future of their franchise, then WHY don’t they just go ahead, & extend HIM for another 2-3 years, making it 4-5 more years total!? That would push Bowles out to his age 65 year old, Medicare Eligibility’ Season.
January 26th, 2025 at 3:51 pm
Consolation Prize Lovie Bowles is a .500 coach at best. There should be plenty of uncertainty around him.
January 26th, 2025 at 4:00 pm
There is a reason we have won both Super Bowls with offensive head coaches. Todd does not have what it takes and I am afraid 2025 is going to be a dumpster fire and they will ultimately move on anyways. Todd is not the future and if were to be fired, no one would even interview him for a HC job.
January 26th, 2025 at 4:00 pm
All this “Chucky Talk” is just Soooo RIDICULOUS. You lose ALL ‘credibility’ as a poster period, when you spew-it, as if you have Tourette’s or something. And, this is coming from someone who’s been a HUGE fan of HIM going all the way back to his ‘Raiders’ days, & that people from Kentucky to Tampa Bay say that I look just like him LoL.

Don’t get me wrong, I often read your posts and respect your dedication to our Bucs. I’d rather you agree to disagree than attempt extrapolate incorrect conclusions from my posts.

Bowles has done an incredible job here as head coach. We completely rebuilt the roster never missed the playoffs! Anybody who thinks Bowles is in jeapardy is kidding themselves. He has built a culture where the team is clearly all in! They represent us well no off field embarrassments. He would be hired in about theee seconds if we let him go!
The defense didn’t lose the playoff game Coen did trying to show how cute he could be calling plays.
Remember we were picked to be a wild card team and get blown out in first round.
Bowles won the division we were projected to go 9-8 he went 10-7 go get an edge rusher and watch this team win 14 games next year.

I’m not one of those who have a problem with Bowles, & have defended him against some of this ridiculousness. But, with that said, I believe that he is what HE IS. A good man that they players obviously RESPECT. And, is an aging ‘middle of the road’ HC. You can do better, & you can do MUCH worse. My belief is when you already have ‘THE GUY’ in-house (who is a 38-Year Old, OFFENSIVE Genius), who is much more so in the ideal mold that will help you better compete in the future of the MODERN DAY NFL (NFC), & who accomplished something VERY ‘special’ alongside of YOUR ‘Franchise’ QB, & etc. That, you DON’T choose to keep your 62-YEAR OLD, slightly’ above average (‘DEFENSIVE-minded’) HC with a CHEAP ‘buyout’ and who is basically, already on a ‘year-to-year’ basis.

Perhaps.
But I’ve been told that if we keep pointing the dirty end of the stick at Coen that it will magically make this defense better.

The owners think he has a 50/50 chance at another one and done post season. They are satisfied with that.

@FlBoy84 – I just read your comment… I’m with ya on that one. That is almost EXACTLY, how this whole thing was playing out in real-time. 💯 Could not be ANY more obvious.

Man the Triggerfish gets hostile when someone has the nerve to criticize his St .Bowles. No room for fun!
January 26th, 2025 at 5:12 pm
“So stpetebucsfan are you saying Quinn is Tyson and Bowles is Spinks”
No I was comparing the COACHING of these two!!! I’m saying Quinn is coaching Tyson and Todd on D has been COACHING Spinks.
You’re missing the point entirely. Players compete, Coaches coach! A bad coach can certainly fail to get the most out of his talent, a good coach can’t do anything to make his players faster or stronger, training staff can only do so much.

“No room for fun!”
Plenty of room for anything here because JJOE moderates with a very light touch.
He lets the morons in with the informed, the classless with the classy.

This take is garbage in my opinion. I’m tired of hearing that we have won the nfc south every year he has been in office… get real. This division is historallcy one of the worst in football ever and we have barely gotten by with bowles at the helm, with way more talent than the rest of the teams. We should have pushed Bowles to the side for Coen without question. Horrible time management and he lives in a 1990s era of risk taking. I mean come on..if anyone here thinks that not going for 2 in KC with both of our best receivers out was the best idea them you deserve multiple years of mediocrity that we are gonna get.

Spbf say He lets the morons in with the informed, the classless with the classy.
I see you are back to name calling. I like it better when you captivate us with your stories of charging up San Juan hill with teddy Roosevelt or saving Apollo 11 as mission commander. Left wing loon…lmao
January 26th, 2025 at 6:36 pm
Joe’s…he doesn’t have an extension because team Glazer does not believe in him.
It is obvious. WHy pay a one hit wonder OC record OC money?
The circumstantial evidence says otherwise.
Let’s be real here…Todd is a .500 coach. Right now that gets you division titles in the worst division in football but not much more.
Todd won’t be here in 2026.
I’ll wager any amount. Name your number.

You guys act like this team has 7 Lombardi trophies and is the pinnacle of nfl success. Bunch of losers with nothing better to do than whine about a rigged sport and a head coach. Grow up

Doubt get read at the bottom of 75 views but the facts are plain to see:
TB got handed a team that wasn’t his, including staff, and has won. He said as much going into his 2nd year. You can call the south soft, and it has been but looking at the teams play in the playoffs they were not all that great and many were beaten by us.
We have been in rebuild and cap hell since Brady left, it’s just a fact and the Bucs have done a great job, last year and this year of overcoming a weak line up, no depth and again cap woes, what the hell do you want?
TL, TB and the entire staff has done one helluva job with this org. We want winning but then we complain? WTF? Again lost a OC that TB and JL hired, that ain’t coincidence. That’s sound, well thought out hiring.
Injuries and depth. The 2 go hand in hand. Except for the 2 ATL loses of which I broke 3 remotes but had a perfect passer rating, we were pretty solid after losing 2 starting wideouts, 2/3 of our defensive starters. Again, no excuse for all prime time losses but at the end of it all we gave ourselves a chance and got into the dance. Yes I want to see 12 plus wins and a stronger team but we had that in Brady’s 2nd year and lost.
We are building this roster from the ground up folks. We spent draft picks on offense and some on defense and the front office has done an outstanding job of that, TL and staff has come into their own as one of the best in the league and they are being poached too. If TB is so bad why is his staff being sought after?
At the end of the day we have a very young team that is smart and hungry. We have a franchise QB with an explosive offense so long as they stay healthy, and THAT is the reason they were so good this year and the D wasn’t. So we draft defense to compliment the offense and things will get stronger. Bowles is not to blame here, in fact, like Tomlin I see that having a consistent leadership is what brings the best results. I trust TL and the rest of the staff who knows way more about their jobs than I do to do the smart things. After all, they all want to win as badly as we do, probably more cause they have skin in the game.

Too long a comment you admitted Balls washer. How does Bowles get a longer leash than Dungy? Mind numbing.
January 26th, 2025 at 10:19 pm
If you just watched the Bill’s and Chiefs. It’s obvious the Bucs will never sniff the SB let alone a conference championship game with Bowles as head coach. He is too meek in today’s game of aggressive risk taking football.

Yep too long for someone with limited comprehension skills. And perhaps too long for people so technologically limited they don’t even know how to use their finger on a tablet or a scroll wheel on a mouse, takes less than a second if you kind find a friend to teach you how computers work.
@bw I read it all but I’m one of those who doesn’t mind long posts if they contain valid info and solid takes. Your’s does all of that.
And bonus points for your layout. Especially on longer posts white space is your friend and you did a nice job.

Wow. Here’s another example of someone who feels anointed as a spokesperson for “right” and otherwise you are “wrong.”
Don’t have a negative opinion about the guy who’s gone 8-10 (the only losing season of Brady’s life) 10-9 and 10-8.
Add ‘em up. 28-27.
With a roster that has more talent than teams who won more games, and without an offense dragging the team to a narrow plus victory margin. Without the offense scoring 30 points a game, St Bowles is on the faculty at Temple University and things would be different right now.
All the excuses in the world can’t change the fact that Bowles lost 6 games that were right there for the win. Andy Reid wins 6 of those. BA wins 4.
Bowles won zero. The one exception was the Anthony Nelson miracle that saved Bowles’s job and he was rewarded by not playing much in the loss to the Redskins.
But it’s fine, get on your knees and make the offerings to St Todd.

Ok to add some context to the “fire bowles crowd” I’ll speak from my opinion. I’ve listened to and read JBF for years. Love you guys (also bring back scuttlebucs) anyway,
Todd Bowles ceiling is MEDIOCRITY! and here’s why….
1. Year after year we win a terrible division. Be honest I doesn’t take much to win the NFC south these last few years. This division is not the NFC north in 2024. We barely won the last 3 divisions, by, one game in 22, tie breaker in 23, 2 games in 24). Let’s not forget it only took 8 wins in 22, and 9 in 23.
2. We consistently play to our opponents level. We can beat anyone any sunday….we can also lose to anyone any Sunday. We can go toe to toe with the best teams in the NFL. (We beat Philly and took the chiefs to overtime) we also narrowly beat the panthers the first game, and got our asses kicked by the cowboys despite a close score…WE NEVER JUST PLAY OUR BEST. we have to make everything close.
3. Since we keep everything close in the last 3 years we are .500 in one score games….mediocre
4. Our defense is unprepared way too often. It doesn’t matter who we have on the team. Rarely do we have a game where our defense plays well, most of the time we are can’t stop anyone from going down the field with 30sec left for the walk off score when it matters.
5. Bowles game management is terrible, from taking the ball out of Tom bradys hands to his allergic attitude to time outs. The Washington game, use of the time outs on the final drive could have left us with a little bit of time. Instead todd let them use the entire clock and then score by refusing to use timeouts.
After we suffered the coined lost decade. We don’t want mediocrity, being a .500 team with the ability to beat the best is not ok, we want want to see our best week in week out, Bowles has never given us that, we continue to beat the teams we should lose to. And continue to lose to the teams we should beat. As long as he is head coach we will simply be mediocre.

Not to mention the muke Smith esqe pass defense with corners 14 yards off the ball and receivers wide open constantly….I forgot to add that past
