“There’s A Lot To Think About”

January 13th, 2025

No announcement about the 2025 season from legendary linebacker Lavonte David in the shell-shocked Buccaneers locker room tonight.

The Bucs want David back — he turns 35 this month — but David isn’t clear on his future. “There’s a lot to think about,” he said.

No. 1 on David’s consideration list might be whatever caused him to hobble off the field with seconds remaining in the fourth quarter. Joe hopes it wasn’t serious, but David obviously couldn’t handle weight on one leg.

With Todd Bowles returning next season, the Bucs certainly need David back. He can still play fast within this defense (video below), and he had a strong season overall.

Joe’s keeping a positive attitude and will assume David wants to play his 14th NFL season in Tampa. The alternative is too painful to think about.

    Legendary Lavonte!!!!!!!

  2. BucfaninMi Says:

He will be missed, one of a few that played their guts out!

  3. Bubby Says:

LVD was hurt bad at the end of the game. He saved Bowles and licht for years… will never get the credit he deserves.

  4. Tbbucs3 Says:

Absolutely need 1 more year from Lavonte…..this defense already has way too many holes in it to lose its best player.

  5. Josh Says:

If Todd Bowles is back FANS WILL LEAVE THIS TEAM IN HUGE NUMBERS!!

  6. Itzok Says:

Maybe he can play corner next year. Dean is the biggest waste of talent, Winfield has done nothing all year. The rest of the secondary would be lucky to be on practice squad for 31 other teams

  7. Chris Says:

After 3 years of the same Todd Bowles defense I wouldn’t want to come back here , 10-7 again?

  8. Mike Johnson Says:

Congrats to the Commanders. They were the better team tonight. We played hard. We lost. Lets fix this Defense next season. We need them to be better when Baker is not spot on.

  9. Josh Says:

If Bowles isn’t fired im jumping ship until he’s gone i won’t watch another season of his defense…

  10. ModHairKen Says:

One more year, LD. Cement your HOF credentials. Let Licht build a better Defense for Lavonte David. Bring in a good LB. A good CB. A good Edge rusher.

This team is on the rise.

  11. ModHairKen Says:

Bye Josh! Miami and Jax have teams, if ya wanna stay in Florida.

  12. Buc2Blame Says:

David Do not waist your time with this team or franchise anymore. We thank you for all you’ve done for us. Ride off in the sunset playa. To many holes on this team for you to be waisting your time with this HCand defense

  13. Bucschamp Says:

Ring of Honor for you LVD!

  14. Colonel Angus Says:

LoL, “I’m not watching if Bowles stays!” Shut up, yeah you will. Grown a$$ men crying. Unless you’re a kid, then in that case you’ll learn to master your emotions.
Bucs got beat, Washington played ballz out. Tip the hat to them.

  15. Mac Says:

Lavonte deserves way more accolades them he ever gets. Whatever you decide know we all love ya and appreciate your efforts this last decade plus. A true pro on ever account.

  16. Simeon4HOF Says:

Loved Lavonte 2nite. Hope he comes back

  17. unbelievable Says:

Hearing Wagner called a “sure fire hall of famer” but Lavonte, who has better numbers and same number of SB rings, can’t barely sniff an all pro or pro bowl… Bucs constantly disrespected.

Chitting the bed tonight on national tv doesn’t help either

  18. Josh Says:

I live in Colorado… I will not give YouTube or this organization another penny and I will not watch another game that Bowles is a head coach of any franchise.. I’m 36 watched Sabby Piscitelli play and id rather watch that crappy defense then this bum of a coach constantly pry defeat from victory all of you supporting him clearly are fine with never winning another Super bowl… With him as a head coach your lucky to make the playoffs in the worst division in football… Canales and Raheem will smoke him next year if he’s still around…

  19. El HEFE Says:

Logan Hall wanted to injure another one of our stars

  20. adam from ny Says:

defense couldn’t really get off the field but at the same time they sorta played well…

offense sorta played well but didn’t really put up points…

    we just got outplayed…

if we would have put up our basic 29-30 points we would have won

    no sacks really…

a lot to disect and digest here…

we just got outplayed….yardage wise…we coulda won this game…oh well

we got doinked into the offseason on an almost bungled field goal…

    ehhh

  21. adam from ny Says:

    defense causes no turnovers….ehhh

    lavonte played hard

  22. Hodad Says:

With Bowles returning next season? Did the Glazers tell you that Joe? I don’t recall reading where the Glazers have said that. I’m sure it’s true, but I do remember them waiting two weeks after the season ended when they did fire a coach. Good intel Joe, you heard he’s coming back.

  23. Pewter Power Says:

He came alive for the playoffs as if he knew it could be his last game. I love LVD but it’s a young man’s game so gotta rip off the bandage

  24. Saskbucs Says:

If we don’t have Lavonte next season to mentor the new LBs coming in… I cringe thinking about how bad it could get.

  25. heyjude Says:

Most definitely, we need one more year with Lavonte.

  26. BucsFan81 Says:

Having Bowles back is like retaining Mike Smith and who in their right mind would do that.

  27. shatstanks Says:

Inside the 20, our defense is pretty good. Anywhere else on the field, wide receivers are always running free and wide open. Especially right down the middle of the field.
