Slimy Saints At Bucs, TV Map
January 4th, 2025You poor Bucs fans in North Florida. Why does the NFL hate you so much?
The Bucs are in a win-and-in game against the slimy Saints. The stakes don’t get much bigger. Beat the slimy Saints and the Bucs host a playoff game next weekend. Lose and the season is likely over (unless former Bucs offensive coordinator Dave Canales and the Stinking Panthers do the Bucs a solid and pull off a road upset at the Dixie Chicks).
So guess which part of Florida doesn’t get the Bucs game and instead is assaulted with the Jags-Colts? You’ve got it: North Florida.
Surprisingly, a good chunk of the republic will get the slimy Saints-Bucs game free via the public’s airwaves from their local FOX affiliate.
Just about the entire left coast west of the Rockies will get the Bucs from their local FOX affiliate, as will about 60 percent of the country east of the Mississippi River.
For those not receiving the Bucs game from the airwaves floating over their home, it’s Sunday Ticket for you or off to the local watering hole.
Jeff Burkhardt, Tom Brady and Erin Andrews will handle the call.
Of course, Joe always encourages fans to hit up their neighborhood Hooters for cold beer, hot wings and the legendary Hooters girls. Oh yeah, and football on the flatscreens, too.
FOX Early Window Broadcast Map
Red: New Orleans @ Tampa Bay
Blue/purple: Washington @ Dallas
Green: Chicago @ Green Bay
Yellow: Jacksonville @ Indianapolis

Let’s Mike a statement!

Agree 100% about the stupidity of not giving North Florida the critical game.
But I think there is a method to the NFL’s madness although I’m not sure they are correct. They view television as promotion as well as revenue. They want to promote their newest franchise in their own geographical areas. I don’t know if they do this by actual measurement or not but I suspect that is their goal.
In addition the owners have some say and perhaps Shahid Kahn’s management team insisted on their “territorial rights”.
Whatever as a simple programming matter Joe is correct. Unless North Florida is overwhelmingly loaded with true JAG fans no sentient football fans would want to see the JAGS over the Bucs in this situation.
Then again imagine you live in Brooksville which I assume always gets the Bucs games but in years when the Bucs were totally out of it they gave them the JAGS if they were still in the playoff hunt. Makes sense to perhaps general football fans but Buc fans would be peoed, even IF the game made better sense from a football perspective.

I don’t think the NFL has any say in it. I think it’s up to the local station manager and it’s broadcast partners.

So what will ATL watch?
January 4th, 2025 at 11:19 am
GMarcio
Just looked at that myself as I’m 2 hours North of ATL and usually get stuck with Falcons.
Looks like Bucs on FOX, Crows on CBS at the same time. Cool.

I agree Bucnasty, Let’s Mike A Statement!
January 4th, 2025 at 12:20 pm
They have not shown a Bucs game this year on local tv here in orange park/jax fla..and they are showing the chicks panthers, on the other local channel?? wtf man…I listen online and watch the redzone channel at least …LFG
January 4th, 2025 at 1:23 pm
It’s crazy how they figure these zones out. Great to hear Brady, Erin, and Burkhardt are announcing. A perfect game for us to win and Mike to get his 1000 yards!

Anthony
Having been a Sports Director at an NBC affiliate for a dozen years let me assure you that NOBODY, Sports guys, General Managers, owners whatever of local stations have power to tell the Networks which games they wish to receive.
Local affialiates are contractually obligated to carry the majority of the Network to which they belong. If the station in North Florida wished to replace the game with LOCAL programming they might be able to get away with that. But the NFL owns the games, they have contractually given the rights to broadcast those games to differnent entities and Networks. In turn the Network has certain “rights” but not programming decisions.
Food chain in order…NFL…Networks/Cable companies…local affiliates.
If I as Sports Director or our General Manager had requested a different game, they would think we had lost our minds or didn’t understand contract law.

Bucs are lucked. Jordan Whitehead was injured in a car accident. He’s out for the playoffs.
January 4th, 2025 at 2:20 pm
Jordan’s season has been a disaster.
If the Bucs aren’t careful, Saints could slap them in the mouth tomorrow.
Not going to be an easy game.

Apparently, CBS is going to broadcast at least some NFC games. They had last week’s Bucs game even though it was two NFC teams. I don’t care as long as it’s on. If I have to I’ll turn on the radio and hear Gene Deckerhoff. I prefer tv, but if I turn the radio up really loud it’s like sitting in the nosebleed seats. I really can’t see the game from there either.
January 4th, 2025 at 2:23 pm
On that thought…I wonder if the radio syncs up pretty close to the TV? Some of these announcers annoy me.
January 4th, 2025 at 2:25 pm
ElioT, there is a chance that this could be Jordan’s last game. We had better keep an eye on him.
January 4th, 2025 at 2:33 pm
Hey you betting guys, what’s Carr’s odds of playing in NOLA next year?
January 4th, 2025 at 2:48 pm
Sunday Ticket. Set it and forget it. EVERY. GAME. EVERY. SUNDAY.

“Sunday Ticket. Set it and forget it. EVERY. GAME. EVERY. SUNDAY.” ~Lt. Dan
ABSOLUTELY, Lt.Dan. I live in NE FL and we never get the Bucs here as these TV Map posts highlight again and again.
If you go out to the bars/restaurants even ONE time a month to watch an NFL game, you might as well as pay for Sunday Ticket as it’s basically the same amount. AND you’re guaranteed to have the sound heh

Long time fan of Bucs Radio. The boob tube bozos and the godawful commercials drove me away from TV years ago. The weather is going to be drop dead perfect for football. I’ve been to games like this one. Always a great experience. Go Bucs!!
January 4th, 2025 at 5:09 pm
This is off topic but I’m gonna keep screaming this . THE BUCS CAN ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY NOT ALLOW LIAM COEN OUT OF THE BUILDING. IT WILL BE THE BIGGEST MISTAKE IN FRANCHISE HISTORY INCLUDING LETTING DOUG WILLIAMS AND STEVE YOUNG OUT OF THE BUILDING. My sources are telling me the Patriots are salivating to get their hands on Coen . He has taking Sean Mcvay’s offense to a whole new level . Most innovative offensive mind I’ve seen since Bill Walsh .

There is a long proud history of fans who prefer the audio from their radio commentators over the TV guys.
This is particularly true in baseball which is full of long down periods and where the “personality” (Harry Carey anyone) of the announcer shines through.
As someone who once did play by play I’d say it’s a matter of taste and personal preference. I love Gene Deckerhoff!!! His instrument(voice) is outstanding and his delivery is also great. However technically he misses a LOT which might bother some of our purists and I get that.
Mick Huber OTOH amazes. HORRIBLE high voice and his major line was stolen from the great Dick Enberg!!! “OH MY!” I wonder how Florida couldn’t have found a better voice for their games.
January 4th, 2025 at 8:18 pm
I’m actually getting both NFC South games out here during that slot.
That has def never happened before since I’ve lived in San Diego

I want to thank the Joes for voicing the frustrations of the north Floridian avid Bucs fan base. If I remained hundreds of miles away in the Pensacola area I would be receiving the Bucs game this weekend. Last weekend too! Thank you Joes for your shout out to make us all feel heard!
