Mike Evans No. 65

January 20th, 2025

Warrior.

Where would the Bucs be without Mike Evans? In a damn pinch, that’s where.

Evans, who turns 32 in August, is still one of the best receivers in the game and clearly the best Bucs receiver.

Despite missing three games and most of a fourth, Evans ranked 24th in receiving yards this year. More than Tee Higgins, DeVonta Smith and Cooper Kupp.

Of course, we all know Evans had 1,000 yards receiving. Again.

BSPN’s Seth Walder, a man who never met a number he didn’t like, ranked Evans as the No. 65 most valuable player in the NFL.

Without Evans (and Chris Godwin), the Bucs plunged into a four-game losing streak. The offense was OK without the duo for a couple of games, but by the time the 49ers game rolled around it was clear the Bucs offense missed Evans a lot.

With Evans in the lineup after the bye, the Bucs finished the season on a 6-1 run clinching the playoffs on the final day of the regular season. Quite simply, the Bucs would not have made the playoffs without Evans. And Joe doesn’t think Liam Coen interviews with the Jags without Evans returning.

Yeah, Evans is that valuable.

    Evans looked great when healthy.
I hope Evans can play two more years at 1K.
13x1K for #13 would be amazing!

  4. Doughboy Says:

Doesn’t matter what # you are it matters if you’re in the playoffs!

    “Evans looked great when healthy.”

INDEED! And he’s matured. The way he ignored Lattmore’s mouth and cheap shots to humiliate Lattimore on the field with his receptions was awesome.

And what a thing of beauty when he caught a ball a few yards shy of the first down chains and dove, with a half twist, reaching out and extending the ball for a first down. ME13 is the best!

Mike has been the heart and soul of this team for years. Can’t wait for next season and another 1000 yards!

  7. BallHawk75 Says:

And now Mike is on the golf course watching the playoffs instead of competing in them.

    28-27

End the forced reign of Bowles now!

He is not a HC anyone wanted or will want ever.

  8. PSL Bob Says:

It will be great watching Mike break Jerry Rice’s record next year!

Wow not just dumb but arrogant as well as racist.

Perhaps you can explain who died and left you king? Anyone? Says who?

  11. Erica McCarley Says:

  12. Bring back the lawn chairs Says:

True dat. Mike is a man amongst boys on the fabled gridiron.
    A great family man too.

  13. Badbucs Says:

Mike got better catching this year. I think he learned something from Coen. More hands on the ball. I wasn’t sure the would resign him. Certainly glad they did. Even a declining Evans will be better than most. Certainly better than 65.

  14. #1bucsfan Says:

He’s deff better than 65. Also they should have targeted him a lot more in the redskin game. He was unstoppable. That’s deff coens biggest mistake is not feeding the ball more to ME13

  15. WestCoastBucsFan Says:

Stephen, I’m with you on replaying that catch, twist, and stretch. Heckuva play for sure. Can’t wait for next season!

  16. WestCoastBucsFan Says:

    *Stpete. Autocorrect struck again.

  17. Aqualung Says:

Classy move by Bowles to greenlight Mike’s 1000 yard season on the last play of the Aints. Todd is good at that kind of stuff.
