Mike Evans May Have Won The Final Battle

January 18th, 2025

Still a beast.

For the national media, the game last Sunday night between the Bucs and the Commandos wasn’t so much Washington vs. Tampa Bay or even Jayden Daniels vs. Baker Mayfield.

No, it was for Marshon Lattimore vs. Mike Evans.

Those two have a long history of fighting (literally) a couple of times a year. This past year, the slimy Saints traded Lattimore to the Commandos. So the first time the two squared off was last Sunday night in the wild card round.

It sure looked like Lattimore, 29, is on the downside of his career. Evans toyed with him and then schooled Lattimore for a touchdown last Sunday night.

Evans worked Lattimore so much that it had Shannon Sharpe laughing out loud on his podcast “Nightcap” co-hosted with Chad Johnson.

“It wasn’t the same,” Johnson said of the expected duel between Evans and Lattimore.

“Mike cooked him!” Sharpe laughed, interrupting Johnson.

“Mike got him, he did,” Johnson said trying not to laugh as Sharpe giggled in the background. “Mike got the best of him.”

Sharpe said that Evans had a full camping setup inside Lattimore’s head.

“It got so bad Lattimore was trying to hip-drop tackle him!” Sharpe bellowed. “You see that on every play. That man tried to hip-drop tackle him on every play.

“I was like, ‘C’mon, man!”

It was a wonderful thing to see. And Sharpe was right, Lattimore was so angry he looked like he was trying to take Evans out.

Once a slimy Saint, always a slimy Saint.

Sunday night might be the last time we see Evans and Lattimore square off. The Bucs and Commandos, barring another playoff matchup, are not scheduled to play each other until 2027.

Who knows if Evans and/or Lattimore will even be in the league then? Evans will turn 32 in training camp. Lattimore turns 29 in May.

Lattimore is playing football this weekend.

Evans is on the golf course.

I’d say that’s a win for the slimy former Saint.

    28-27

    Fire Bowles now!

I think the point of the article was about individual battles not team battles . That’s what I got from it .

Glad I got to witness that, Evans was dialed in on Sunday, he was focused and was dominant over lattimore. Sorry we hardly had the ball and when we did we spent too much time trying to run it even when they had all their guys all at the line of scrimmage. We just never got to play our game. Defense couldn’t get them off the field and we made mistakes when we did have it, not a good showing.

Mike will retire a Buc. It will be interesting to see what NO does with the draft picks they received from Washington for Lattimore.

  5. Durango 95 Says:

After watching the Buccaneers defense have another one of its game costing collapses I’m pretty sure that Lattimore is the one laughing right now.

Or are we still trying to draw attention away from that ongoing mess by pretending that Baker’s fumble cost them the game.

*When it comes to CTB you must tread lightly*.

Mike is amazing. What a great player!

Algo Rhythm says Todd Bowles is great.

That was the true bright spot of the game foe me. Seeing Latimore getting abused by Mike and Baker was the most fun I have had this season. Then in true Saints fashon he resorts to the cheap shots. Perfect!

    What a POS.

    Go Bucs!

  8. Fred McNeil Says:

Cheap shots are ingrained in all old Saints players. The Broncos will become the dirtiest team in the league soon. What will the league do when a Saint assassin takes out Mahomes?

  9. heyjude Says:

Mike had a great game on Sunday. So disappointed the Bucs didn’t win.

Lattimore never changed. Seems to be that entire Bounty-Gate mentality is still there wherever they go.

  10. Half_Sac Says:

Besides that scheduled date couldn’t they be matched up in one of the additional games decided by placement within the division?

  11. Vanessa Anne Says:

I was so happy to see Mike outplay Lattimore.

He was totally dialed in and focused, and it showed in the way he ran his routes, caught the ball and scrambled for YAC.

Like everyone else, I was also concerned about Lattimore trying to pull a cheap shot.

@Fred McNeil… I’ve been saying the same thing to myself about the Broncos.
