“Furious” Jason Licht

January 28th, 2025

Bucs GM Jason Licht.

So a Google search shows many media references to Buccaneers Ring of Honor general manager Jason Licht being “furious” after Bucs offensive coordinator Liam Coen’s controversial departure from Tampa.

In fact, “furious” was used again yesterday to describe Licht, four days after Coen bolted for Jacksonville.

Joe waited a day to share this to see if the Buccaneers media executives and Licht would demand a retraction (as Joe speculates they did last week). But nope, it’s still there.

Licht is referred to as “furious” in a Monday afternoon story at TampaBay.com.

Coen knows general manager Jason Licht is furious with him. Maybe head coach Todd Bowles is, too.

“And I want Jason to be good with it,” Coen said. “I love Jason. Those guys gave me an opp! I’ll never forget that. But time heals. Time heals. We’ll be all right.”

Last week, ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter referred to Bucs officials as “irate” and said he’d never experienced this level of rage from a team this century.

Joe hopes Licht is no longer furious, if he ever was. (Joe doesn’t necessarily believe the unsourced reports of Licht’s fury). That would be unhealthy. However, Joe’s secret new fantasy is Licht’s fury lingers and he lashes out by purchasing an A-list edge rusher in March.

Regardless, Licht has a right to be furious with the actions of El Serpiente, aka Coen. Licht is an accountability guy and Coen did not behave honorably in his Bucs exit, disrespecting those at One Buc Palace that afforded him nearly every possible consideration.

If Joe learns of Licht no longer being “furious,” Joe will share that here.

  1. David Says:

Somehow, I hope this translates into the Buccaneers winning more. A relentless pass rush would be a great start

  2. Jeff Says:

Bowles is mad because Coen now makes 2.5 times more than him! Clueless Todd strikes again! Duh-yup!

  3. BrianBucs Says:

Before all of this happened, the Glazers and Bucs keeping Bowles as the head coach and not promoting Coen to that position shows how much power Arians still has at 1 Buc.
When this is all said and done and the facts and truth finally comes out it will show that Coen is not the snake that the local media is making him out to be.

  4. BallHawk75 Says:

I’m going to bet that actually having a passing defense instead of a Swiss cheese scheme would do wonders for our win total.

But hey, let’s drone on mindlessly instead about a situation that’s done and over with.

Zero point in fixing what we actually have control over.

    28-27

    Fire Bowles now!!!

  5. Couch Fan Says:

If you wanted him that badly, should of got rid of the Super Todd. You knew he wanted to be a HC. You choose not to offer him the position. Only person to be mad at is the person in the mirror.

  6. Mike Johnson Says:

The Bucs failed to seal the deal when they got Coen’s word he would stay. They should have had the papers ready for him to sign. Jags owner Khan flashed that checkbook with zeros. Some offers are just too good to pass up. I’m not mad at Coen.

  7. JohnJohn007 Says:

    It was all about honor.
Coen used the Buccaneers to get more money and control from Jacksonville.

  8. Aqualung Says:

I wouldn’t want Jason furious with me.

  9. Deuceswild78 Says:

No way you fire a hc and pay a first time hc the money he got from jax… still can’t believe they did when there are quality candidates still out there

  10. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Coen did nothing wrong at all.

He’s gone. So what? The talent made him look good, same as with Canales.
And it will make the next guy look good too.

Good teams don’t sweat coaches getting promoted and moving on.

  11. #1bucsfan Says:

There’s a healthy way to leave a job and unhealthy. Not showing up for a shift and tell the manager or owner you quit and leaving them in a bind is a terrible way to quit. I’m not talking about coen doing this. I did this many many moons ago when I was 16 and learned not to burn bridges after that. Was very immature of me. I believe coen left in an unhealthy way. He’s so grateful for the opportunity the Bucs gave him yet this is how he shows his appreciation? Sorry that’s bad character. It is a business as many commenters keep saying and I agree but again you don’t have to leave a certain way. All he had to do was be honest and say I’m taking the 2nd interview. It doesn’t sound like that’s what he did in his last interview after becoming HC and saying time will heal him and Jason will be alright that last sentence says it all. Bye Felicia

  12. Ultra ClodHopper Says:

I think we found out why he wasn’t offered the HC job.

  13. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Mike Johnson Says
“The Bucs failed to seal the deal when they got Coen’s word he would stay. They should have had the papers ready for him to sign.”

Even if he had signed the new contract, he could have still left. Would not have been tampering. In that case, I would be angry about it, but he signed nothing.

And the Bucs didn’t drag their feet.

  14. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    #1bucsfan Says
“There’s a healthy way to leave a job and unhealthy.”

Contractual jobs are different. It’s all about the best offer for you. Coen had made up him mind to stay in Tampa, but then Khan swooped in and made an offer he could not refuse at the last minute.

    That’s how contract negotiations work.

Just like Ebay. Best offer wins out. You can bid a higher price, but just before the end of the offer, someone can swoop in and bid over you, leaving no time to up your own offer.

  15. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Honestly though…I’m not so sure he’ll have success. Same with Canales. I expect Canales to be fired by next year.

  16. Dan b Says:

Bonsai. He did nothing wrong at all? He lied, was passive, aggressive, and manipulated. I hate to see what you are in your business dealings.

  17. BallHawk75 Says:

There’s no one out there that wouldn’t leave their employer for four times their current salary.

Whatever someone is willing to pay you is what your value to them is.

I left my last job for more money, the quote unquote honorable way.

Guess what? They walked me right out the door. No loyalty to the years I gave them whatsoever.

Only loyalty is to yourself and your family. Business is cut throat.

Coen simply did the best he could for him self and his loved ones.

If your opponent is drowning, you don’t throw him a rope, you stick a hose in his throat and watch him drown.

  18. John m Says:

    Done with the snake

  19. jimmy Says:

People act like Coen is supposed to be oncall 24×7 with a service level, expected to pick up the phone within x number of rings.

  20. Hearty Dikerson Says:

Licht is likely furious because he knows Coen was the best coach in the building. Everyone from the Glazers to Licht to the media are trying to convince the fans (and themselves) Bowles is a passable HC.

If they truly believed in Todd (1) they wouldn’t be sweating the Coen departure so badly, (2) they would’ve extended his contract by now, and (c) Todd wouldn’t be the lowest paid HC in the league (not to mention ownership clearly wasn’t worried about offending Todd by giving his OC a higher salary).

We’re in a constant state of limbo with Todd as HC. Every year it’s the same song and dance with him…”He has one more year to prove himself! This is the make it break year!” Rinse and repeat.

  21. Nate Says:

I had a kid working for me once, was on for a year and came to me and said he had received an offer from another company that paid more. Not taking in his loss of retirement benefits paid for by the company, health insurance paid for by the company, etc. I said, are you considering it and he replied with, yes. I said enjoy, we’ll pay you the next two weeks and turn in your keys. No reason to keep around someone who’s looking. This reminded me of the Coen situation. If Coen wanted to move on his focus wasn’t on the Bucs or winning.

  22. FlBoy84 Says:

Do find it a bit hilarious so many are up in arms about the way Coen handled this situation, but curiously they don’t apply those same moral misgivings to the politicians they elect. Still feel it was a massive misread on both the Glazers & Licht, but what’s done is done. Time to move on. Much more interested to read some actual insight into the current pool of candidates that have already been interviewed as his replacement.

  23. FlBoy84 Says:

That first sentence definitely applies to the Glazers as well.

  24. Half_Sac Says:

I kept dreaming we’d trade for josh Allen but now I don’t think any deals between the bucs and jags will happen for a while lol

  25. heyjude Says:

Watching that video of Coen makes me even more sickened. He is so full of himself. And now we know why he has bounced around and only got one interview for a HC job. Way too grandiose.

Licht has the right to be mad if he is. He went out on a limb to give Coen a big pay raise. The guy turns around and ghosts him, lies, and takes another job. Coen is a grown man and didn’t act professional at all.

  26. D-Mac Says:

Licht is furious because if Coen would have just been honest with him, I bet with the snap of his fingers Licht would have ousted Bowles and promoted Coen to head coach.

  27. BuckyBuc Says:

    small hat gang

  28. ElioT Says:

There’s no person on earth who wouldn’t take Coen’s deal.

    Money talks.

  29. Pewter Power Says:

Are there any adults working for our organization. If you’re so mad at this coordinator why the hell do you need Bowles? This is getting embarrassing Licht, COEN IS IN THE AFC SOUTH NOT THE NFC SOUTH

  30. Firethecannons Says:

My hope is that Jason light is so furious that he is extra careful to make sure that Greenberg stays in Tampa bay

  31. Watch Daddy Sling It Says:

He’ll have his money, but at the cost of 31 other owners being put off.

  32. SB~LV Says:

Coen will never shake the way he handled the situation
    CHARACTER
    and lack of
Mam up ! and deal with it especially since you are still in the same business, it’s not like he transitioned into something outside of football, especially coaching.

  33. adam from ny Says:

our GM is the mack daddy…

i honestly hope he doesn’t honestly see that clip of coen talking about honesty…

that mug of coen’s is honestly getting super annoying to look at too

  34. zzbucs Says:

Most media talking heads, keep talking about the money and people trying to do better…..Nobody has anything against that….The problem here is HOW you do things….

When you give your word, you can change what s spoken, but do it face to face, and explain simply and with the truth, if you are going to lie, and not pick the phone, you are a SNAKE, and that what this disrespectful person is….a Snake….

Time to move on…..Enjoy your money…

Good riddance to him, the freeloading bastard! I hope he fries

  35. SB~LV Says:

Coen makes Lane Kiffin look like Tom Landry

  36. Bucben1961 Says:

    Hearty Dikerson spot on

  37. El HEFE Says:

Jeff do you really think Todd cares about someone else’s money or what he can do for the offense stop being an idiot and worrying about Todd

  38. El HEFE Says:

It’s funny because I bet if we did fire Todd and then let Cohen take over yeah the offense would’ve better but for how long just be honest, this guy only look good because of the stars that we have on offense come on last year we didn’t have Bucky Irvin last year. We didn’t have graham. We didn’t have Betterson. We didn’t have a lot of these missing pieces for our offense, so don’t give so much credit to this snake.

  39. Hodad Says:

Get over it and find a new OC already. After that start the search for a new HC. Another season of. 500 Bowles you’ll need a new HC too.

  40. gatorbuc Says:

If it’s on the board I’m betting under Urban Meyer on Coen.

    Games, wins . . . whatever

He’s a good OC, but he’s not going to lead a franchise. Ownership is a problem in Jacksonville. He’s more likely to be the AEW InterState Middleweight Trios Champ than AFC South Champ.

  41. stone crab sam Says:

My take is coen didn’t have enough sense to start bucky irving for most of this year, and there’s an unemployed ‘chucky’ standing on the sidelines that wont cost the team several first and second round draft choices this time around!
There are no problems, only solutions.

  42. Hodad Says:

Right now Coen looks like the happiest man in the world while Bucs brass looks like a bride left at the altar. Bow up, shut up, wipe your tears, and get back to work snowflakes!

  43. Peter Says:

He will not be successful in Jax
He doesn’t have an offensive line
    They’re terrible in the draft
5-12 maybe he’ll be gone in 1 yr
That organization needs to be sold simple

  44. jimmy Says:

there doesnt seem to be really any evidence of licht being furious…. just the one unsourced line from the times repeated by SI. most search engine results are to this site regarding “furious”.
You can find audio, as well, among more written content. –Joe

licht isnt an accountability guy, at least not when it comes to the debacle of a performance from the bucs D this year.

sounds like some players were in a favour of Coen going for it and getting paid. they know what it is like unlike those who expect 24×7 availability by phone and never ending loyalty to a team and org that would kick him to the curb when they needed to. especially baker, who knows what it is like to go from on top to the curb and wonder what happened.

Coen made the right move the best way possible for him when opportunity came knocking.

  45. ReeeBarrr Says:

    Time heals all wounds..
In many cases it provides the clarity to understand how disrespectful people or relationships can be.

  46. Red Skeleton Says:

Maybe Baker is a coach “whisperer”.
Last 2 OC’s are head coaches now. He is the common link here. Let’s hope he is 3 in a row.

  47. Pewter Power Says:

You’ll be looking for another HC/OC combo next year so no need to be upset, you just wasted another veteran year of Vita Mike and Chris

  48. ReeeBarrr Says:

Nobody is upset with Coen taking the job.

People are upset because of the impression he was dishonest about it.

Coen could have called and he chose not to.

I want someone who would make the call and be up front.

  49. Buddha Says:

Coen had no confidence in his own ability to repeat his performance from this past year. He was likely thinking this is it. I’ll never get another opportunity like this. The fact that no other team had contacted him for an interview tells you a lot about what the rest of the NFL thought of him. I’ve been paying attention to NFL football for more than 60 years. I’ve never seen an NFL coach with such a thin resume getting offer like he did. He is now in a managerial administrative position. He will have to deal with other people’s problems not just his own. Good luck with that.

  50. IrishTony Says:

I’m telling you that crap out of his mouth will fuel this team to an NFC championship in this crap ass conference

  51. IrishTony Says:

The guy’s like a freaking AI sound bite

  52. Durango 95 Says:

JL and the Glazers backed the wrong horse from the start.

The fallout from that foul- up will continue to echo for quite some time. So if the “Big Guy” is furious he can look in the mirror for someone to blame. Don’t look at Coen, he did what he had to do to secure his future. Ultimately the Glazers are responsible for this mess but no doubt they were helped along by the Big Guy himself.

We may not know that Coen would have been the guy to take the team to the promise land. But what we do know is that CTB is most definitely not that guy.

  53. MRWright88 Says:

Bucs should probably not plan a scrimmage or joint practices with the Jags this year. Can’t rely on Liam’s word that they will even show up.

  54. James Roberts Says:

Honestly I’m tired of Licht and Bowles!! Licht bragging last season that he should be thrown a boat parade for his offseason resignings lol, we’re a mediocre team in an even more mediocre division, any other division we don’t make the playoffs the last 3 years!!!

  55. Fred Says:

    Call Gruden.

  56. jimmy Says:

If Licht is furious he needs to direct his fury to doing his part to fix the defense, including getting the balls to get with the Glazers and push Todd to only HC responsibilities.

The bucs org has a lot of holes to fix now. The offseason isnt off to a good start.

  57. JBBUCS_06 Says:

Promote Liam?!?! No thx. Can’t be trusted

  58. Day 1-76 Says:

Coen made him look like a fool. Now he’s going to lose Greenberg to that scumbag.

  59. Oxycondomns Says:

i was pleased with his play calling but to me coen always stuck out like a sore thumb on the sideline he never looked good in bucs colors. something always seemed off maybe it was his personality felt like he was never a buc

  60. Saskbucs Says:

I think the only thing that matters in this whole deal and it’s crazy to me Jags fans and others can’t grasp it… he went radio silent for 24 hrs! Can that even be disputed through the reporting thus far.

I’d be furious if I was Licht to, we had a meeting set, you pushed it fine, but then I called you 5 times cause you didn’t show up for the meeting and we didn’t know where a valued employee was. You think you know someone.

Makes perfect sense to me in any business that you show up for a scheduled meeting with your employer or give him a timely reason why you won’t be there. Bosses don’t take that lightly and people get fired for that crap.

  61. JustVisiting Says:

“It don’t mean nothing ’til you sign it on the dotted line.”

  62. PewterStiffArm Says:

This probably means no joint practices with the Jaguars this season. And they are not on our schedule for 2025, promotion or not it was unprofessional especially with that dysfunctional team to the north. What a slithering serpent, no animal can get any lower than that.

  63. SlyPirate Says:

    Here’s what I don’t understand:

Why don’t the Bucs sign a coordinator to a multiyear contract that requires teams to buy them out with cash or pics? That’s the case for HC so why not OC/DCs? If a team is paying a coach $4M a year, it should come with some protection.

  64. SenileSenior Says:

Way back when Bill Parcels used some machinations regarding coming to coach Tampa Bay to get more money, I believe. Just saying. Not justifying anything.
    SenileSenior

  65. SenileSenior Says:

A “gentlemen’s agreement” is just that. Sometimes it is legally binding and sometimes it is not.

    Any lawyers out there?

  66. EA Says:

    Duvaaaaal! 😂

  67. Mobucs Says:

“Controversial departure from Tampa” gets litotes of the year.
“Time heals all wounds” are not the words of a man owning his actions.
With all his new millions, the man can afford a razor.

  68. Tbbucs3 Says:

Liam Coen was literally the laughingstock of the NFL yesterday in his press conference

Yet 80% of Bucs fans wanted to run Todd Bowles out of town for this guy.

    Embarrassing fan base.

  69. Davenport Says:

He’s gone. Did a great job while he was here but obviously Licht & the Glazers didn’t think he was HC material. Time will tell.

    Moving on…

  70. Josh Says:

Let it make you or let it break you. I hope the entire Buccaneers organization—the team and the front office—take this as a chip on their shoulders and work even harder to earn a Super Bowl ring this year. Make him feel like an idiot for leaving because, while that money can never be taken away from him, a Super Bowl ring is something that can’t be bought. It’s gotta be EARNED!!

  71. EEK Says:

Urban Meyer’s NFL coaching career died there before it even took off

SB winning coach Petersen seems done forever as a HC after time in Jax

Good luck Coen. Yes, the results will speak for themselves.

  72. Rod Munch Says:

You crybabies still whining about this are literally insane.

    No one is turning down a 5-year, $12-13/million a year to take a 3-year, $4-5/million a year job.

The Bucs tried to pull a fast one, went running to the media to claim Coen was coming back before he ever signed anything. Not only was that a stupid thing to do, it may very well be the reason Coen left, since based on the Bucs public announcement, the Jags then finally fired their GM. Had the Bucs kept their mouths shut for a day or two until the contract was signed, that might have delayed Jacksonville’s GM move and perhaps Coen doesn’t end up going at that point.

This was very very poorly handled by the Bucs – and there is literally no contract that he could have signed that would keep Coen from taking the job if he wanted it. Also there is no way the Bucs can legally do two-tier deals where they can reduce someone’s contract for taking a head coaching interview. I still hope that is a media invention, because if it’s not, I expect to hear from the NFL soon and a big penalty coming to Tampa (including a huge fine and more importantly, losing draft picks). If you can do two-tier contracts, why doesn’t everyone do it? If you sign an OC, they get paid $1-million a year, unless they take a HC interview, where they only get paid 1-dollar a year.

Stop your crying already. Coen did an amazing job, and this is the result of that success. It sucks, but there’s nothing the Bucs could do about it – and no, they couldn’t just give Bowles job to Coen because of the stupid racist Rooney rule, which means they’d have to fire Bowles first, then contract BS interviews, and in that time Coen could have just taken another job anyways.

  73. Jake been there since the beginning Says:

Ok, so, nice to know ya I mean good bye lol. That’s it.

  74. Rich Says:

Why doesn’t someone in this media market do their job and get this information first hand via an interview with JL? This secrecy and lack of communication with those of us who’ve been fans for many, many years is so frusrating and that’s putting it mildly. The media is our lifeblood to to this team so they need to put their big boy pants on and delve into this mess and give us some answers!!! It seems like the entire tampa bay media…print, electronic etc are freakin AFRAID to do the job…be journalists not kiss ass wimps!!!!!

  75. Stanglassman Says:

The people who hate Bowles not matter what and think Cohen did nothing wrong tells us much about them than they realize.

  76. Couch Fan Says:

The crying over a business decision that is being made out to be a the most hurtful thing ever is both embarrassing and tells us much more about you than anything else.

“Wah he didnt leave how I wanted him to leave wahhhhhhhhhhhh!”

  77. It’s brutal out here Says:

He should be furious – at himself. He blew it. He had the guy in the building and he has to know Bowles has failed to evolve his defense and his in game decision making, and is going to be 62. Which OC would want to be anchored to that stinking mass of mediocrity. Ridiculously poorly played by Licht. Hopefully we recover without losing too much momentum. Not a given however

  78. gp Says:

    “Time heals all wounds”
I kinda like the “Murphy’s Law version better
    “Time wounds all heels”

  79. adam from ny Says:

josh you sound like freakin fortune cookie

  80. stpetebucsfan Says:

So the trolls are accomplishing at least one good thing.

Am I the only guy here who always roots for the Bucs but this year is special!!!

Love to see the Bucs win 12 win at least the first game in the playoffs and then let these people eat sh*t sandwiches….er their words…any difference?

  81. Drunkinybor Says:

Bye bye go lose with blondie. Blondie ain’t even half the man Baker is.

  82. MelvinJunior Says:

Yeah, I have noooo idea WHY the Bucs ran to the media like that, to announce Cohen was staying!? It was so stupid. And, to just assume (or take for granted) THAT contract offer – with such ridiculous (bogus) specifications, & etc. – would be sufficient enough, is absolutely mind-blowing. Then, ‘freak-out’ so publicly, like a little teenage girl on Twitter, crying about her (soon to be ex) ‘boyfriend’ being with another girl, & not texting/calling her back LoL. It’s all just so ridiculous. They lost sight and completely dropped the ball, while trying to strong-arm him. And, they are STILL freaking-out over it! Their ‘silence’ says it all. Why else have they only thrown out these little ‘personal’ leaks that reflect poorly on Cohen, versus meeting with the media in a fully transparent way!? I think it all says A LOT. They want to ‘act-like’ they were completely blindsided, when they should’ve known better. I mean, what else would they expect… Did they REALLY ‘think’ their offer was good enough, and that HE would be beholden to it!? Supposedly, they had already put THEIR BEST offer on the table. So, what’s the issue… Why all the freak-out, and now the silence!? If they were SO SCARED to lose him, then WHY didn’t they just promote HIM HC to begin with!? They have looked SO poorly through all of this. I guess, they just STILL have not figured out yet, HOW to crawl-out of their little hole.

  83. MelvinJunior Says:

This franchise has always been soooo secretive behind closed doors with literally, EVERYTHING they do. But, they’ve been allowed to get away with it throughout all these years. Because, we have never had a local media to demand, or expect anything more than that. Now, I’m NOT wishing to be the Cowboys (or a few others), BUT we should get a lot more than what WE get from this group. Which is basically NOTHING EVER, for the most part. And, I have never witnessed any ‘aggressiveness’ from anyone, either. They are all too scared and more worried about being their friends and pushing whatever THEIR (the team) narrative is. Especially, on WDAE. It has really gotten soooo ridiculous on there, for the past several weeks. T-Kras wants to put on this front that he is just SO TOUGH too, it’s ridiculous. He has really gone insane, while ONLY pushing the agenda.

  84. Darin Says:

He didn’t want the Jags job in the current situation. Situation changed the next day so he changed his mind. Big deal move on. Have joint practices with him if you have a sac light. Take him to the back field and settle it

  85. Josh Says:

Adam from NY – not sure if that’s a good or bad thing. Seriously though, it’s like a breakup. You can either hit the gym, go get a degree, do somthing to better yourself, and make sure the next one is smarter, funnier, and much better looking by addressing what you may have been doing wrong. Or, you can wallow in self-pity and mourn the one that got away. Personally, I’m a fan of pulling up your bootstraps and making anyone who doubted you, left, or had the chance to be great with you, regret their decision. Greatness doesn’t happen by accident…

  86. Oddball Says:

Jason doesn’t strike me as a guy you wanna piss off.

  87. cmurda Says:

Licht will be in our ring of Honor in due time. Love that dude. Obviously don’t blame him for being irate. In a much less direct manner, pretty much all of us fans feel the same as Jason. There’s nothing you can do about a guy that will sleep his way to the top. His punishment is that he has to live with himself. Lets get that D.E Joe and “we” wisheth. That would ease the pain and anger and we can let Benedict Coen hopefully implode in Jax.

  88. cmurda Says:

  89. Bucs4Ever Says:

teams lose coordinators all the time

wonder if the BUCS were gonna fire Todd to keep Coen and they thought they were able to keep him.

Then didn’t even get the chance to fire Todd.

That’s why they are mad. IMHO

  90. cmurda Says:

Melvin. Deep breaths. Football rainbows. Deep breaths.

  91. Not Says:

    Licht had his chance.
Should have flushed Todd down the Bowl and promoted Coen. Has to blame himself .

  92. Badbucs Says:

What was the Bucs’ offer for Coen to be head coach? I doubt there was one. We’re they going to undermine Todd? Not a chance. Coen got a take it or leave it offer with no guarantee for HC. Now the Bucs try to spin it that Coen is the bad guy. Bucs told him to wait 2 years and like it and don’t talk to anyone else about a better offer or our deal is off the table. What sort of extortion is that? Now they want to talk about loyalty and honesty. Really?
Please man up Bucs. Pull up your panties and go find another OC. If you find another HC along the way you might want to look at it. Just stop trying to play the victim. Coen made the only reasonable choice and you pushed him to it.
Life goes on. You wanted Todd, you got him. I hope you made the right choice. Probably you did. Team is in pretty good shape and could be reinforced with the draft. Hire a good OC and all is good with the world. Go Bucs!!!

“If Joe learns of Licht no longer being “furious,” Joe will share that here.”

Please dont do that Joe. If Jason forgives this wordy durd he has gone soft on us. Anyone forgiving Sean Payton? Marshon Lattimore? Ask Mike and Chris.

    Go Bucs!

  94. Bucfan Says:

How much loyalty does Corporate America display to their workers? Coen did a great job & I wish he would have stayed. One of the few situations where the employee had the upper hand. He did what is best for his career. How many of us can honestly say they were never shafted over the years by their employer? The Bucs tried to force his hand and he took action. Being realistic, the Bucs were more concerned about their D/C remaining has head coach. Time will tell which choice will benefit the team.

No qualms over taking the job & $. None. And sincerely happy for him. We will be fine. He called a great game and will miss that. But life will go on.

To clarify why we feel a certain way toward Coen.

Licht asked what # keeps you. They obliged. Just stay. He agreed. Yes its nonbinding even if he signed.
Coen texted several saying hes staying. Then coen changed the meeting.
And then the lying & subsequent ghosting.
When he finally did call, he interjected the sick kid info. Dont do that. (Ive had to deal with similar, so I understand). But nothing about being in Jacksonville, negotiating a contract and assisting the Jags in circumventing, er fulfilling the rooney rule.

Again, every single one of us here would take the job & $.
That is not my point of contention.

Just be a man. A man would have called Licht & Bowles and said he needed to go to Jags. For himself. For his family.
We would all understand. And respect him for it.
He didn’t do that. Either due to losing the extension, helping jags follow thru their last rooney rule candidate and/or fear of something else.

Its over. Best of luck. Truly.

I will say the videos (clip above, Duval chant) are off a little if not just plain odd…..
