Ex-Buc: Marshon Lattimore Is In Mike Evans’ Head

January 9th, 2025

Former Mike Evans teammate speaks out.

So it’s possible that Commanders cornerback Marshon Lattimore, the four-time Saints Pro Bowler, will play Sunday night against the Bucs.

Most Bucs fans know Mike Evans and Lattimore have had stunning battles since the Saints drafted Lattimore in Round 1 of the 2017 NFL Draft. Lattimore probably leads the 1-on-1 matchups, which have included historic fights.

Lattimore, 28, isn’t what he used to be, but his tank isn’t empty. Washington traded for him in November, coughing up third- and fourth-round picks.

So will Evans care about seeing his old division rival.

Listening to ex-Bucs tight end Cameron Brate, Joe concludes that Evans absolutely will care.

“It is crazy watching those two go at it,” Brate said of a Lattimore-Evans matchup. “Both of them are not thinking about the game; they are thinking about that rep and embarrassing the other person.”

Brate said while fans remember the fights, it’s a nonstop war.

“… It’s truly every single play the entire game. Like Mike is preparing when he plays Marshon like 50 percent for a football game, 50 percent for a fight. I’m pretty sure he’s in his locker watching boxing highlights before a game,” Brate said.

The comments came during Brate’s visit to the Green Light podcast.

Joe hopes Lattimore’s bad hamstring needs more time and he sits on Sunday. After weeks of streak-related distraction, Evans deserves a clear head.

    Epic Sunday Night Awaits!

  2. BakerFan Says:

I want Mike to embarrass him…

  3. BillyBucco Says:

No way he doesn’t play. They might not have a game next week.

  4. Jethro Tull Says:

Time for Liam to help Mike beat Lattimore’s arse. Mike is great enough. Move him around the LOS.

  5. chris l Says:

he will play but his hamstring may not be full health, similar to mike evans when he came back. who cares, mike evans is older and a little more mature now. just play you game. he should still be able to eat, we need him to.

  6. Buddha Says:

    Commanders 1-4 against playoff teams
    Buccaneers 4-2 against playoff teams.

We’ve got this. Lattimore’s play declined the last few years.

  7. OR Buc Says:

I would like to see the side by side stats Joe. My recollection is lattimore reduced mikes yards, but Mike would still get his short TDs. I’ll take tds over yards all day.

  8. Marky mark Says:

    Mike can handle it

  9. JimBobBuc Says:

Washington will focus on stopping Bucky like the Saints did – Bucky had a good but not great game. They will also focus on Mike, with or without Lattimore.

Keep Daniels in the pocket and limit his runs!

So do you feel comfortable giving the 3 points? I kind of view this as a pickem game and giving the other team a FG at the start just scares me.

Probably a “cowardly” bet this week. LOL

  11. Lokog Says:

Punish Daniels every chance you get

  12. heyjude Says:

Ugh, Lattimore will play. However, he is on a different team and coach. Mike’s got this!

  13. Jeffs grandpa Says:

    4-3 against playoff teams

  14. Mike’snumber1fan Says:

I think the title needs to read: Evans is in lattimore’s head. Mike is a goat, marshon not so much.

  15. #1bucsfan Says:

Deff with ya Joe. I think lattimore has more of a leg up on the battle. It’s kinda fun watching them go at it but also kinda not because ME13 doesn’t come out on top most of the time lol. Huge ME13 fan by the way just calling it as it is. Both years the Bucs won their SB we lost to the saints both games but the diff in the 2nd SB in 2020 is we played the saints and we beat them and that ended the Bree’s era and they havnt bin the same since so im hoping ME13 ends this battle between him and lattimore and good old fashion to beat them on the way to another bowl and who knows maybe lattimore retires lol doubt he does but you never know

  16. View from 132 Says:

The Mike 1000 yards story is feel good and all, but the rookies are keeping the Wash DC up this week. Time for Bucky and McMill and that TE that came out of nowhere – Culp? – to be household names. Mike will be a red zone target.

  17. Rod Munch Says:

Lattimore is nothing – he literally just commits pass interference on every single play knowing the refs aren’t going to throw 50 flags on him. All these low IQ idiots who talk about Lattimore ‘shutting down’ Evans are just stupid, and never actually look at the team stats, in particular the penalties column.

  18. Bojim Says:

Just focus Mike. F Lattimore. You’re the best.

  19. Saskbucs Says:

2 straight practices listed as full. He’s in. I think Mike can win that battle whenever he wants depending on Bakers ball placement but I agree, much rather Lattimore is out so Evans is just focused on the job and not anything extracurricular.

Bucky and the other pass catchers are gonna cause Wash so much trouble that doesn’t matter much what Lattimore is up to. It’s our D that is the only concern.

  20. GoneGator Says:

Agree with others who believe we can win even if Mike has an off day. Prefer him to go for 150 and 3 TDs BUT if he’s keeping 1 (or 2) of their best defenders occupied we have other weapons to make them pay.

Much of our success is going to hinge on whether our rookies continue their strong play and who will step up as a consistent WR 3. Shepard, Miller ?

  21. unbelievable Says:

Eh, Mike averages like 51 yards a game against him, but only something like 0.3 TDs… Of course some of that has to do with the fact that 2 different times Lattimore has injured him and taken him out of the game, plus Mike has gotten himself kicked out once or twice too.

Overall, it is what it is. Find Mike when he’s open, find someone else when he’s not. We’ve got plenty of guys that can catch passes, and at least J-Mac seems like he can stretch the field a bit now too.

We just need Mike to keep his cool and not get himself ejected / suspended.

  22. unbelievable Says:

And yes he is 100% playing Sunday night, no ifs or buts about it.

  23. Bucschamp Says:

Mike dont need to fight this. We are going to run them to the ground with bucky, tucker and white.

  24. Drunkinybor Says:

I hope he plays. We ain’t never scared! Not Buccaneers we fight, brawl, hang with questionable whoes, and find another punk to plunder.

  25. Bucks 'n' Bucs Says:

With Coen using motion like he does, I’m betting Mike has a great day because Lattimore won’t be able to jam him and tick him off.

  26. Bring back the lawn chairs Says:

I wish Tampa employed that jam technique more often instead of using their patented Tampa 2 whatever zone , where the db plays 15 yards off on the snap. It makes better optics. Getting beat playing 15 yards off just looks like you are playing so scared to be on the same field as the receiver.
