Does The Commanders-Lions Result Matter?
January 18th, 2025Bucs fans have various assessments of head coach Todd Bowles.
That’s natural and healthy. It’s great when fans care deeply and bring passion from all angles.
So could some fans’ opinions of Bowles change tonight, based on the Commanders-Lions result?
This was a question brought forth on the Ira Kaufman Podcast by Sage Ira himself.
“Absolutely,” Joe replied. A Commanders upset win in Detroit could move some Bucs fans to soften their rage at Bowles, just as a Lions blowout could lead some fans to run head first into walls knowing the Tampa Bay offense has enough juice to run up the score on Detroit.
Many probably think tonight’s result is irrelevant.
Joe’s view of the Bucs could adjust a little after tonight’s game. Maybe. Joe has to see how it looks on the field.
Back in the 2007 season, the Bucs lost their playoff opener at home to the Giants after winning the NFC South. Joe was crushed. But Joe admits to feeling a little differently after the Giants won two more road games and beat the Belicheats in the Super Bowl.
January 18th, 2025 at 9:55 am
Exactly, a little less painful losing to a good team. A little more painful losing to an inferior team that we should have beaten. I definitely think it’s relevant. Go Bowles
January 18th, 2025 at 9:56 am
The Bowles apologists will point to it and say see…..They’re desperate that way.
The rest of us have more than a seasons long worth of evidence.
January 18th, 2025 at 9:58 am
The game results after tonight’s game will not change my feelings towards Bowles at all. I think Bowles is a good HC by what he has help build in Tampa and what I am hearing from around the NFL. However, my opinion is the problem with Bowles is his stubbornness to replace or move around his assistant coaches on the defensive side of the ball He did this on the offensive side and take a look at the results I think the same kind of stubbornness is what got Dungy ran off
January 18th, 2025 at 10:06 am
Yes, let’s look for excuses to paper over the reality of our situation.
Bowles defensive scheme is fooling no one, and he has a losing mentality.
You’ll see a HC in Campbell that plays to win, instead of playing not to lose.
I predict an epic blowout by Detroit that makes Bowles look even more idiotic than he does now.
28-27 Fire Bowles now!
January 18th, 2025 at 10:09 am
The Lions have had the most injuries in the NFL so that ridiculous excuse will fly out the window. It’s up to your hero Licht to provide depth, and Bowles and co. to coach them up. That obviously didn’t happen.
January 18th, 2025 at 10:20 am
There is nothing more shameful than wasting the careers of talented players. The goal EVERY year should be Superbowl & your eyes should be fixed firmly on the teams you need to beat to get there. How do we beat the Lions, how do we beat the Eagles, the Chiefs, the Ravens, etc, etc… The Bucs are almost there! We have the offense now we need to fix this defense and I believe that starts with a new DC & a few defensive coaches, in addition to a solid draft and free agency. It can be done!
January 18th, 2025 at 10:22 am
We coulda been a contendah.
January 18th, 2025 at 10:31 am
I was most troubled by the lack of discipline late in the season and our playoff game. Since I believe Bowles is staying I can only hope for some changes in his approach. I hope that Licht can light a fire under him to get the necessary changes.
Go Bucs! Perform a true reevaluation.
January 18th, 2025 at 10:33 am
Ha, my views will never soften on Bowles. This team won in spite of his ineptitude this year. Thank God for Baker and Coen. When it comes to playing tight games Bowles almost always screws up. Nothing short of a SB win will change my vote of “no confidence” for this clown.
January 18th, 2025 at 10:38 am
The Commanders-Lions game has no bearing on the Bucs’ path forward. Success is built on consistent execution, preparation, and accountability—not on comparisons to outcomes irrelevant to our team
Todd Bowles, like any head coach, is judged by results and the adjustments he makes. Criticism is fair, but it’s equally fair to credit Bowles for instilling resilience in this team and adapting to significant challenges this season. Building a winning culture requires continuity, and quick fixes often lead to long-term instability.
True fans want progress, not scapegoats. Constructive criticism is invaluable, but speculation and emotional outbursts don’t help the team or the conversation. Let’s focus on solutions—what changes on defense can complement the strides the offense has made? How can the team address depth issues through smart personnel moves?
The Bucs are in a pivotal position. With the offense clicking and young talent emerging, the next step is refining the defense and optimizing coaching strategies. I believe that Bowles and his will rise to the challenge because the potential for success is undeniable.
Go Bucs!

Per Future Ring of Honor Inductee GM Jason Licht:
January 18th, 2025 at 10:45 am
Lions win this big. Not only are they better, they have a real home field advantage
January 18th, 2025 at 10:49 am
It’s irrelevant. Commanders didn’t beat the Bucs. The Bucs players beat themselves (not the coaches).
Besides, the Lions are going to annihilate the ‘Skins.
January 18th, 2025 at 10:49 am
Jason Licht, the architect behind this team’s successes, put it best: rebuilding—or reloading—takes time. The process of filling every spot on the roster doesn’t happen overnight, especially when you’re managing transitions while maintaining a winning culture. Winning 10 games and another division title isn’t a fluke; it’s the product of steady leadership and sound decision-making.
Sustained success in the NFL is one of the hardest feats to accomplish. Teams like the Patriots, Chiefs, 49ers and Steelers have shown it takes smart leadership and patience to weather cycles of change. Bowles and Licht have managed to keep this team competitive while transitioning key personnel, which is no small task.
No team is perfect, and even the best rosters have areas to improve. But calling what Bowles has achieved ‘remarkable,’ given the circumstances, speaks volumes. The Bucs have been competitive while addressing long-term roster needs—a balance few teams manage well.
Licht’s remarks remind us of the value of leadership and the importance of seeing the big picture. The fact that Bowles has led this team to success during a transitional period should inspire confidence, not criticism. Building a championship-caliber team is a process, and Bowles has PROVEN he’s capable of steering the ship
January 18th, 2025 at 10:53 am
They put up 23 points against our trash defense and never punted. With all the key injuries their defense is still light years ahead of ours. Even if the commanders win it won’t change the fact that Bowles needs to make changes to more than personnel to make his own defense better. Detroit for sure won’t let a rookie set any nfl records like Bowles does
January 18th, 2025 at 10:57 am
It won’t matter. The Lions are unlikely to hurt themselves like we did, they will have true home field advantage and they have aggressive coaches.
Lions are gonna win by 2-3 scores.
Aside from Bucs being out, them losing sucked for this weekends matchups. Commanders about to be blown out while Rams Lions would have been a game and Eagles Bucs would have been a game.
January 18th, 2025 at 10:59 am
Yea he took a super bowl winning team and changed its identity and as a result turned it into a .500 team who cant beat good teams. Yea, “remarkable” wouldn’t be the term I’d use.
The fan boys are begging us to wait until he gets all 1st round picks on the defense. Only then can we judge his coaching ability. LMAO. So dumb.
January 18th, 2025 at 11:02 am
Lions have 22 on IR. 15-2 record. But only Bowles has to deal with injuries. LMAO.
January 18th, 2025 at 11:05 am
Nothing could save Todd bowls, ……from our own fans let alone national media even if he showed all of his emotion on the sidelines did not drop our defensive line into coverage or even if he takes us to the Super Bowl and win itAnd told Coen he could have head coach job in the next two years people would still be on a witch hunt to get Todd Bowles out it’s simple. He’s black and he has a job that a white man could have done better and this is just reading the comments on JoeBucsfan. YouTube gets way people are either

January 18th, 2025 at 11:06 am
Bowles may be beloved by the players and staff but if he is a leader he needs to look at how he can improve himself. I don’t think he should be fired but he needs to be honest and make changes. Yes we had injuries and spent most of our off season resources/time with an offense focus and will flip to a more defensive focus in the draft and FA. However, in my view Bowles should have someone else be DC even if that’s him sharing those responsibilities. If next year the Bucs repeat the same win record of the last three years and barely win the nfc south or barely get into the wildcard game, then he hasn’t improved enough to be coach. He will be stagnant. The expectation for next year should be improvement. If he doesn’t lead this team to an improved win record and get to the NFC championship game, then it’s time to go.
January 18th, 2025 at 11:08 am
Let’s pump the brakes on the revisionist history. Yes, this team won a Super Bowl, but expecting perpetual dominance in a league designed for parity is unrealistic. Every championship team faces challenges—injuries, free-agent losses, and natural roster turnover. The real question is whether the leadership in place can adapt and rebuild while remaining competitive.
Bowles inherited a team in transition, not the same squad that won the Super Bowl. Key players retired or moved on—Brady, Gronkowski, and others were monumental losses—and yet, Bowles has managed to keep the Bucs relevant. That’s no small feat.
No one is saying Bowles needs all first-round picks to succeed; what’s being pointed out is the reality of building a balanced roster in a competitive league. Judging a coach’s ability without considering the roster and context is, frankly, silly. Licht himself—someone who knows this team better than anyone—called Bowles’ work ‘remarkable.’ Too me that holds more weight than emotionally charged commentary from the sidelines.
January 18th, 2025 at 11:15 am
These results have no bearing. That was choke job by the defense last week and the defense gamelan. When the opposition has ZERO punts and no turnovers, you failed. You played soft zone and couldn’t tackle. The WTF didn’t need to put up a lot of points, because they played the game the way they wanted to. I don’t think Bowles should be fired for it, but he was 100% out coached. The fact it was even close is a testament to this offense.
January 18th, 2025 at 11:23 am

You are free to listen to whoever you want. You are free to not use your own eyes and brain if you like and depend on someone else to give you the answers. I dont need that. Nor will I give excuses for a bad HC.
Again he took a Super Bowl winning team, yes it lost some players, but he changed its identity from a passing team to a running team when we didnt have the players for it.
We have massive amount of talent at all 3 levels of the defense. Can we use some more pieces? Sure. But we have the talent to be much better than we have the last 3 years.
1 more year of adding pieces to the defense, wont fix his propensity to mismanage games.
1 more year of adding pieces to the defense wont fix his teams inability to do the fundamentalist of things such as tackling well.
1 more year of adding pieces wont fix his teams complete lack of discipline.
I can keep going on and on about Bowles problems as a HC that wont be fixed with another year of experience or new players. None of which have anything to do with better players. I cant help you open your eyes. I just have to be patient and let you see it for yourself.
How do I know this? Because we’ve seen the same thing from different players for 4 years now!

Bruce Arians was yelling at people made people not wanna play Hence is why Todd Bowles end up getting an upgrade couldn’t do nothing with Brady too slow had to go get a upgrade at quarterback end up getting Baker it’s funny when someone has to switch around and do things to try and help out the organization by you know bringing in Dave Canales or Liam Cohen all of a sudden it’s time to change head coaches honestly did Todd get a fair shake his first year with Brady going through his break up no even when he had got Baker we were in Salary hell didn’t have anybody to play but a bunch of rookies this year we got a little bit more money but still nobody to play with no type of stars and everybody’s hurt. Still don’t get a fair shake now this year we get some good people on draft and they did pretty good this year but be for real. We had a bunch of young talent that’s it Todd balls did a hell of a job with everybody even considering we had to dumpster dive for some free agents.
January 18th, 2025 at 11:38 am
Coach fan this is some BS because there’s been times when I’ve pointed out multiple things and Joe went ahead and made sure it didn’t see the day of life
January 18th, 2025 at 11:53 am
Preaching to the choir. I just got off what I think was probation. For several months I had to wait hours to get a single comment approved. Was extremely annoying especially during games.
January 18th, 2025 at 11:58 am
Fair enough—you’re free to use your own “eyes and brain,” no matter how impaired. But if you’re going to claim to see the whole picture, you might want to adjust your focus—or better yet, put down the pipe.
Todd Bowles didn’t “take” a Super Bowl-winning team and magically erase its identity. What he inherited was a transitioning roster missing some of its most critical pieces—Brady, Gronk, Marpet, Jensen (injured), and others. Expecting the same production after losing cornerstone players is, frankly, silly at best.
Let’s talk about this supposed “identity change.” The shift toward a more balanced offense wasn’t a whim; it was a response to personnel. Losing Brady meant the team no longer had the luxury of a pass-first, high-octane attack. Every great coach adjusts to what they have. Sean Payton, for example, transitioned the Saints’ offense to a run-heavy focus when Drew Brees’ arm strength declined, and it worked—mostly.
Yes, there’s talent, but talent alone doesn’t win games. Execution does. The Dallas Cowboys during Jason Garrett’s era had plenty of talent on defense but were inconsistent due to poor execution and accountability. Coaching is part of the equation, sure—but players need to tackle, communicate, and perform. If you think everything boils down to Bowles, maybe it’s time to trade the couch for a clipboard. I’m sure you’d crush it.
This is where your argument gets circular. You’re saying no amount of personnel improvement will help because Bowles is inherently flawed. Let’s revisit history: Andy Reid was criticized for years in Philadelphia for poor clock management and game mismanagement. Did that make him a bad coach? No. It took time, adjustments, and the right roster (hello, Patrick Mahomes) for Reid to become a Super Bowl-winning coach in Kansas City.
Your impatience ignores the fact that great coaches often grow with their teams. Discipline, tackling fundamentals, and situational mastery aren’t built overnight—they’re part of a long-term process.
Bowles wasn’t handed a perfectly disciplined team and ruined it. He’s trying to fix systemic cracks while maintaining competitiveness. At the end of the day, we’re all watching the same team—just from different perspectives.
January 18th, 2025 at 11:59 am
The Bucs are so up and down week to week. That falls on the coaching.
January 18th, 2025 at 12:06 pm
😢😢😢. But only 2 teams beat the Lions in the regular season. Bucs beat the Bucs in the playoffs with mistakes.
January 18th, 2025 at 12:10 pm
Yes we lost some players I already said that but we still had the makings of a pass first team with our receivers. That was clearly still the strength of our team. Are you denying that?
If you are not denying that then its clear he changed the identity. We werent built to run first. Even when it was clear on the field that passing was our best option he still ignored it and tried to run the ball. Completely buffoon level stubborness but I am sure you are ok with stuffing square pegs into round holes as well since you are offering excuse after excuse.
You say fundamentals isnt built over night but like I said we’ve seen this for 4 years now. The only time this defense has been consistent is during the super bowl playoff run.
Is 4 years not enough time for him to teach his team discipline and fundamentals? I’ll wait for more excuses.
January 18th, 2025 at 12:13 pm
Expect the Lions to treat Jayden Daniels the same way they treated Sam Darnold. The Lions are more injury decimated than the Bucs. Dan Campbell’s solution is to play press man because it’s the simplest scheme to execute and play fast. No mental gymnastics to speak of. Undoubtedly he will also have a double spy on Jayden at times while covering the fargin tight end over the middle. Lions win by at least two scores and provide yet another lesson on what a good coach looks like versus what an academia looks like.
January 18th, 2025 at 12:19 pm
And as far as Andy Reid goes, I didn’t/dont watch every game of his since I’m not a Philly or Chiefs fan so I cant comment on what he did/didn’t do. I can only comment on what I’ve seen from The ReTodd.
If Reid made the same bonehead mistakes The ReTodd does then they were right to run him out of Philly.
January 18th, 2025 at 12:23 pm
He should do a lot of calf stretches this offseason….
January 18th, 2025 at 12:24 pm
Nobodies looking for excuses, just trying to understand actual reasons.
FYI (that means for your information 😜)
Dan Campbell has a .581 W/L % with Detroit
Todd has a .529 W/L % with TB
Todd’s defense last 8 games 17.75 ppg
Dan Campbell’s last 8 games 20.6 ppg
Have a nice day ✌🏼
If you’re going to do a comparison maybe bring info that supports your opinion?
January 18th, 2025 at 12:24 pm
Doesn’t matter since we were the three seed we would be playing Philly and Rams would be at Detroit
January 18th, 2025 at 12:40 pm
GoneGator – try out 15-2 versus 10-8. Try out what Campbell did to the Vikings with waitresses and bartenders less qualified than Bucs defenders to be on a field. They crushed the Vikings with press man!
Never mind, it’s obvious you’re not looking at results in context.
January 18th, 2025 at 12:59 pm
Yes, the Super Bowl playoff run was the pinnacle of this defense—but cherry-picking that result without considering the context is misleading. The Bucs’ defense was top-10 in scoring during the 2020 and 2021 seasons and consistently dominant against the run.
The Lineup at Its Peak:
LDE: Ndamukong Suh – 3× First-team All-Pro, 5× Pro Bowler.
NT: Vita Vea.
RDE: William Gholston.
LOLB: Jason Pierre-Paul – 2× Super Bowl Champion, 3× Pro Bowler.
LILB: Devin White – Second-team All-Pro, Pro Bowler.
RILB: Lavonte David.
ROLB: Shaquil Barrett.
CBs: Jamel Dean, Carlton Davis, Sean Murphy-Bunting.
Safeties: Antoine Winfield Jr., Jordan Whitehead.
That defense was built for immediate success, and it delivered. However, key veterans like Suh and Pierre-Paul have retired, others have aged or seen their skills diminish due to injuries, and salary cap constraints have reshaped the roster through turnover. Expecting the same results with a significantly altered lineup is unrealistic, no matter who’s coaching.
If you’re fixated on the past few seasons, remember that Bowles has been managing these transitions in a cap-strapped league while still maintaining a level of competitiveness. Even Bill Belichick—arguably the greatest coach in NFL history—has fielded defenses that struggled to remain elite during rebuilding phases. No coach is immune to the realities of roster evolution.
You call these “excuses,” but they’re actually explanations. There’s a key difference: excuses dismiss accountability, while explanations provide necessary context. No one is claiming Bowles is beyond criticism—he certainly has areas to improve. However, blaming him for every issue without acknowledging the broader realities of roster transitions and league dynamics oversimplifies the situation.
Calling Todd Bowles a “buffoon” and blaming him entirely for the team’s challenges, all while failing to offer a thoughtful or viable solution, isn’t analysis—it’s venting. Frustration is understandable, but constructive discussions about solutions are far more productive than throwing out emotional, hyperbolic accusations.
January 18th, 2025 at 1:06 pm
Blaming a coach for being to stubborn to change his defense or offense when what they are doing is not working may be “venting”… it may be frustration yes, frustration because of a buffoon coach who cant get out of his own way.
What else are you suppose to put the blame on for one mans mistakes? Another man? Thats called holding someone accountable for their own actions. I know, shocking huh?
Anything other than that is excuse making. It’s clear that we dont agree on much but disagreeing so all we can do at this point and wait to see who is right and who is wrong….
But just to rub it in some, so far through 4 years, I’ve been right! I do hope I’m wrong and I’d love to eat some crow with another Super Bowl win but I highly, highly doubt we’ll even get to the NFC championship with The ReTodd.
January 18th, 2025 at 1:14 pm
Btw I have offered a viable solution. Fire him!
If you are asking me who would be better is just a gotcha question as I have no idea who is available or would be available. But I will say that it shouldn’t be to hard to find a coach that can at least get the team to do the basic fundamentals well. Though if he’s to mean he might get run out of town because I know some of you just hate big ole meanie coaches that hold players accountable and will crack the whip when he needs to.
January 18th, 2025 at 1:19 pm

Detroit has better players in the back half sir. Paeriod. Compare their players @ corner and safety with ours. They’ve had money, we haven’t. They’ve been able to pay for replacement players in FA right? 3 current all pros in their secondary and the rest aren’t scrubs either – not exactly waitresses and bartenders.
Seriously, compare our personnel. The money we’ve spent compared to them. They’ve been ALL IN for years….We’ve been in a soft rebuild.
As fast as detroits game against the Vikings go. 1 game and a great defensive scheme… By Aaron Glenn, not Dan Campbell. Minnesota deserves more blame than Detroit does credit imo. They let LA do the same thing to them.
Couple more questions for you…. How much did we play man to man vs zone this year? Did it change during the year? By game? How many teams play heavy man to man? How many predominantly zone?
I don’t know the answer to this so I know you don’t but maybe someone reading this will.

January 18th, 2025 at 1:27 pm
Accountability is important—no one disputes that. But pinning every issue solely on Bowles ignores the complexities of running an NFL team. Football is a results-driven business, yes, but it’s also a team sport where success or failure depends on countless variables: player execution, injuries, roster limitations, and, of course, coaching decisions. Bowles doesn’t call every missed tackle or blown coverage from the sideline—that’s on the players, too.
If holding someone accountable is the standard, then shouldn’t that accountability apply across the board—to players, assistant coaches, and the front office? Or is Bowles the only person in the building responsible for every mistake?
As for the “big meanie coaches,” let’s stick to the facts. Hard-nosed, disciplinarian coaches haven’t exactly thrived in today’s NFL. Matt Patricia’s flameout in Detroit, Urban Meyer’s disastrous tenure in Jacksonville, and Joe Judge’s implosion with the Giants prove that simply being “tough” doesn’t win games.
Great coaches adapt their leadership style to fit their players and the modern game. That’s why leaders like Mike Tomlin, Andy Reid, and Sean McVay succeed—they hold players accountable without alienating them. Coaching isn’t about yelling louder; it’s about driving results, and that’s a lot more nuanced than just cracking a whip.
If you’re truly rooting for this team, the focus should be on advocating for viable solutions—not sitting back, waiting for things to fail, so you can say, “I told you so.” Firing a coach without a clear plan for improvement is just swapping problems, not solving them.
I’ve enjoyed the back-and-forth, but it’s time to wrap this up. Gotta finish this meat on the grill and focus on these grandkids
Go Bucs!
January 18th, 2025 at 1:51 pm
Maybe the fans should consider boycotting the team. If they don’t care why should the fans. Everyone could just stay at home & watch the game or find plenty of other stuff to do on the weekend. Year after year I guess they just expect to do nothing & expect things to change. But if he’s not gonna change what he’s doing on D I don’t know where it’s really gonna make a difference. The talent is there on D. There’s no way you should have the D struggling this much with the talent that’s there. I think it’s the scheme he’s running.

A Defensive Coordinator position or a Head Coaching position for an NFL team?

Curious why you clam up or throw up little put-downs when people ask you questions or offer counterpoints to your arguments/claims?

Neither
January 18th, 2025 at 4:00 pm
GoneGator, you must really be gone. Saying they have “better players” is a subjective view of your own. Opinion. Conjecture. Whether better or not, most of them were injured. Maybe you don’t read about other teams. All Dan Campbell did was coach the team to 15-2, no excuses, and swept the NFC North. The best division in football. The Bears would have probably been second in the NFC South. Any of the other teams would have won the south going away. Just quit digging, or get a bigger shovel.
January 18th, 2025 at 4:20 pm
Aqualung…. you’re not proving anything, just repeating the same talking points ad nauseum.
Agreed, most of my post was subjective and opinion. I don’t normally say something is factual unless it actually is.
Dan Campbell blah blah blah. 15-2 blah blah blah. I’ve already shown that Detroits defense was worse than ours for the last half of the season. I’ve already pointed out that they have 3 pro bowlers in their secondary currently. I’ve already pointed out that their offense carried them most of the year. I’ve already pointed out that Dan’s W/L % is only slightly better than Todd’s and that the Bucs have been cash strapped and Detroit has had $ to spend.
Just admit it. No matter what, you are pre-disposed to look at Todd with negativity – you see what your looking for.
Now, why won’t you answer any specifics in my post or direct questions that might help you persuade me, or anybody thats actually thinking, that you’re right about anything? And why do you keep changing your name man?
January 18th, 2025 at 4:31 pm
The facts are we don’t have the personnel defensively to consistently go out there and get stops against good teams. The money paid to our “top” defensive players didn’t show on the field. Dean with a cap hit of $15 million is a killer. Winfield eas a shadow of what he’s been prior. David was the only playable caliber LB on the field for 3/4 of the season.
January 18th, 2025 at 4:34 pm
GoneGator – look in a mirror. You go “blah blah blah “ about results? Medication for you might be necessary. You are a waste of time.
January 18th, 2025 at 4:40 pm
I hate that we gave away the Washington game in a few different ways. It’s
Easy to lay blame in a few different areas, but injuries really hurt the Bucs badly. All teams sustain injuries but when too many key players in the same position group get hurt badly, you’re skruud. Even though this team found a lot of depth to squeak into the playoffs, it only happened because Atlanta had more injuries. I’m ok with the loss to the Redskins, because as much as wanted another championship, it wasn’t going anywhere to happen. Even without the injuries, this Bowles defense couldn’t
January 18th, 2025 at 4:42 pm
Stop the Chiefs or Ravens on their worst day and the Bucs’ best. Wasn’t going to happen. We won’t win a Super Bowl with Todd Bowles at the helm. It isn’t going to happen.
January 18th, 2025 at 4:44 pm
Typical reply from Aqualung. Again, re-direction to a personal attack and completely ignored the questions or points made in my post, and certainly no attempt to answer or rebut them.

Doesn’t matter, the better team won.
January 18th, 2025 at 6:03 pm
@GoneGator
Dan Campbell took his team to the NFC title game beating Bowles to get there.
That’s all the evidence you should need.
He coaches in a way better division than ours.
Bowles will NEVER take any team to the NFC title game or the Superbowl as HC.
For you, the NFC South title is the Superbowl I guess.
So in your world Bowls has won three Superbowls in a row!
January 18th, 2025 at 6:25 pm
When Dan Campbell has a Super Bowl ring on his finger get back to me.
January 18th, 2025 at 6:32 pm
Ballhawk76, trying to communicate with Ms Rose Petal is futile. Doesn’t know the definition of a “fact.” Put facts down in front of her and she claims it’s not a fact. Probably dropped on her head very early in life. You are right. Our head coach is Super Bowels! 3 NFC South titles! Woohoo! Dismissing what Campbell did this year in the league’s toughest division with more injuries than we had is raging ignorance. Not surprising.

Couch Fan … ‘We have MASSIVE amount of talent at all 3 levels of the defense. Can we use some more pieces? Sure. But we have the talent to be much better than we have the last 3 years.’
I chuckled at the word MASSIVE used there Couch Fan, because that seems to elaborate quite a bit. I’d certainly call Vea, LVD, Kancey, McCollum & Winfield very talented overall, but beyond that some of our defensive players have PROMISE, and quite a few others should be on the Practice Squad. When the starters go down, you better have DEPTH. We’re woefully short there.
Would you call YaYa Diaby a MASSIVE talent? He had 7.5 sacks in 2023 but dropped to 4.5 sacks in 2024. Would you call Jordan Whitehead a MASSIVE talent? He had his worst year since he was a rookie, allowing 67.6% completions & getting burned for 3 TDs in only 12 games. Could go down every position like that for 2024, and the results would be similar: most of our defensive players played ‘average football’ at best. And that’s the primary reason we ranked #16 at year’s end … middle of the pack.
Might be wrong, but I think what I saw in 2024 was a DC who was constantly tinkering with the defense in an attempt to compensate for lack of talent, and having to deal with constantly changing players who weren’t REALLY prepared to play in HIS defense. I thought that Vea, McCollum, Kancey had VERY GOOD years (despite Kancey only playing in 12 games). LVD had a GOOD year IMO (largely because of the field leadership that he provides), but some of his stats make me cringe (like allowing 84.6% completions, 608 yards & 14 missed tackles; that’s not the LVD we know). A few other players stood out to me (like Tykee Smith & Christian Izien), but far too many defensive players regressed IMO.
This defense needs a MASSIVE infusion of new talent, but I seriously doubt that’ll happen in a single year. I do however think that we’ll see a LOT of new players on this defense this year (probably at least 5 or 6). The defense that I saw on the field last year seemed to me to be nothing more than a giant COMPROMISE. Getting middle-of-the-road results (#16 ranking based on allowing 22.6 PPG average) is probably at the upper end of what this defensive talent could deliver.

Sigh…. you can’t make someone smarter than they are. Even when you try to make it as simple as possible and spell it out to them in the most basic terms.
It’s just an ongoing battle of wits with unarmed men. Bigots and simpletons screaming the same stupid krap over and over again to each other.
January 18th, 2025 at 8:43 pm
I wonder how the Lions were able to stop them at 4th&1. Weird.

I wonder how the Lions were able to stop them at 4th&1. Weird
‐‐—————–
Uhh Mariota bobbled the snap. I wonder how Lions gave up 17pts in 1st half while Bucs gave up 20 the whole game. Lions offense is out doing the Bucs though.
January 18th, 2025 at 9:40 pm
Bucs defense don’t look so bad now lol. Commanders might score 70 on the lions
January 18th, 2025 at 9:43 pm
Dang, our Bucs played them much tougher on Defense. I feel we should have beat them last week.
January 18th, 2025 at 9:44 pm
None of them will admit it Bucsfan81, Lions probably get the injury excuse but not Bucs for some reason. Yet Lions offense is moving ball at will and already have more points than Bucs.
January 18th, 2025 at 9:53 pm
So… how about that Bucs defense!!! Made life much tougher for them
January 18th, 2025 at 9:54 pm
I have to say the difference between us and Washington is the quarterbacks . Look I was all in on Baker Mayfield this year but I think we winning a Superbowl with Baker Mayfield. Jaden Daniels is better than Baker Mayfield and that’s why we lost and it looks like it will the reason why Detroit will lose. I’m ready to move up in the draft and get a quarterback if not this year at least next year get a quarterback in the first round!! Going the Detroit way I don’t think is a good idea they haven’t won nothing yet.
January 18th, 2025 at 9:55 pm
I think we ain’t winning a Superbowl with Baker Mayfield
January 18th, 2025 at 9:59 pm
Whomever looses the game tonight it will be Baker Mayfield fault. I guarantee that’s what Rod Munch will post after the game. Tell me I am wrong.
January 18th, 2025 at 10:30 pm
Daniels looks like he is going to put away the Lions too. Don’t think we need to get a new QB. A improved defense next year and we are a much better team. Also that fumble basically lost us the game so I think we are good.
January 18th, 2025 at 10:35 pm
Gotta draft lbs and secondary. They have not drafted a cb in rounds 1-3 since vh3. No safety since AW. No lbs early since Devin. A lot of drafts have been offense so now they need to get Bowles some guys to help defense, can’t have PS as the depth only.
January 18th, 2025 at 10:40 pm
Bucs 1 solid pass rusher and 1 solid CB away from SB talks
January 18th, 2025 at 10:43 pm
@dubcity I would add improvement from our safeties too they dropped off big time. I agree though about the edge rusher, we need that guy that other teams have to plan for. A true top CB would help but I think that edge rush would do more. Also need a ILB because Denis has been injured since he was drafted and LVD can’t play for forever
January 18th, 2025 at 10:46 pm
Bucs can play with any of these teams, Did alot better than the lions are
January 18th, 2025 at 10:56 pm
Go ahead bash Baker while watching Washington vs Detroit. 🥹🙆🏼♂️😂😎
January 18th, 2025 at 11:04 pm
Like I said. When Dan Campbell gets. Super Bowl ring on his finger get back to me. After tonight don’t want to hear how much he did this year with his depleated defense. This was Embarrassing!
January 18th, 2025 at 11:05 pm
Washington only scored 23 points on us. Guess our defense didn’t do so bad after all. Imagine how good it could be if corner backs were allowed to cover receivers and linemen could rush the qb, hmmmm…
January 18th, 2025 at 11:13 pm
I wonder if the Lions fans are calling for their coaches head like we call for our coaches head because we only lost by a couple of points even though a loss is a loss. Or do they get a pass because a lot of their defenses on IR
January 18th, 2025 at 11:14 pm
Buccaneers only 1 of 3 teams to beat Dan Campbell this season.
January 18th, 2025 at 11:19 pm
“Imagine how good it could be if corner backs were allowed to cover receivers and linemen could rush the qb, hmmmm”
You let Haynes and Funderburk cover man to man you give 40pts… imagine if our rookie center was locked in and didn’t have 2 crucial mistakes, no 3 and out after a 10min drive so putting a tired defense back out there and oh no fumble.
January 18th, 2025 at 11:20 pm
Minn and Det proved you can win all those games and it does not matter
January 18th, 2025 at 11:23 pm
@Aqualung, Ballhawk75 and crew…
LMFAO 🙂
What say you about your man crush Dan now?
He was outcoached and his team was outplayed. Who gives a rats a** what their regular season record was? Can’t use the injury excuse either – lol.
Fire Dan Campbell 🙂
Washington absolutely DOGGED Detroit when they had the ball. Detroit made our defense look like the Steel Curtain – hahaha.
Thanks Commanders for making all of our points and making the Turd Hunters, who keep whining incessantly to fire Todd
January 18th, 2025 at 11:27 pm
Win totals dont matter, the real games are played in January!
January 18th, 2025 at 11:48 pm
I had Jayden on my fantasy so I already know, but they showing the highlights again and man this guy is SPECIAL!!!!!
January 19th, 2025 at 3:14 am
It should NOT soften the rage! It should make it worse, Joe. The Bucs let the Commanders off the hook. We had em but instead gave them confidence as they were not favored to win and not the better team. Infuriating watching them advance!!
January 19th, 2025 at 3:17 am
Bucs one HC away from instantly being a better team!
January 19th, 2025 at 7:07 am
it doesnt matter. consolation trophies in losers lounge are always coated in fake glitter and curve fitted stats.
January 19th, 2025 at 10:12 am
Absolutely it matters
Bucs defense looked a lot better than lions defense did
Washington is strong especially with both Alabama DTs healthy
Daniels is 4 Real and deadly accurate If he stays healthy we all better watch out
Bucs need Best LB , Best CB , Best Edge & Best Safety that can be drafted each round. Not necessarily in that order just the best available
Trading down from 1st pick to acquire more picks Would probably be a good idea in this draft
Bucks defense needs 3-4 new starters & 3-4 High Quality Depth/Sub package players this offseason from draft, trades and FA signings
Hard to do in just one offseason and that is not even considering adding to the offensive side of the ball so we might not get it all this year but when we do
BUCS DEFENSE WILL BE MUCH BETTER
January 19th, 2025 at 11:43 am
Bowles is a good man with not enough good defenders. Doesn’t matter what fans think here are the facts. 1) Not enough defensive team speed; 2) Not enough impact/hitters; 3) Poor tacklers. These things rarely get better with coaching. Going to take a huge defensive personnel overhaul. Has to start with a premier EDGE. These guys don’t come around often in draft classes so have to trade for one. Need a shutdown corner. Zyon McCallum is not that guy but he is adequate on opposing team #2 receiver. Middle of the field linebacker who with Winfield can take away the area inside the hash marks. Can do 2 of 3 in 2025 and defense, regardless of who coaches, gets significantly better.
