Calijah Kancey, Vita Vea Will Train With Ndamukong Suh
January 20th, 2025A year ago, Pro Bowl manbeast Bucs nose tackle Vita Vea put a hefty chunk of his offseason training in the hands of retired legend Ndamukong Suh.
In addition to Suh’s many superstar seasons, including three in Tampa, Suh was known as a fitness freak at his defensive tackle position. In his first 12 seasons, Suh never missed a game because of injury, only suspension.
Vea returned from his time with Suh looking a lot leaner. Bucs officials raved that he was quicker and better prepared for the 2024 season.
Yeah, Vea gained back most or all of the weight during the season, but he had a very good year.
Joe was pleased to learn from defensive line coach Kacy Rodgers, per the Buccaneers Radio Network, that Vea is heading back to train with Suh this winter. And this time he’s bringing a friend: fellow Bucs defensive tackle Calijah Kancey.
What an incredible learning opportunity for Kancey!
With the Rams, Suh went to a Super Bowl alongside Aaron Donald, a legend to whom Kancey often is compared. So Joe suspects Kancey will get all kinds of insight with Suh in Oregon: physical, mental and technical.

Bring back Suh. Worth the risk?

Yeah, the boy wonder had quite the rep for playing dirty. I remember it. I think the Lions drafted him. Please correct if I’m wrong. Glad to see he grew up and out of it. VV wouldn’t be training with a dirtbag. Glad he’s bringing Kancey with him. That’s the great thing about our Bucs: There is a lot of camaraderie and friendship among all the players. Bet that’s one reason why Baker went nuts when Tampa rescued him out of the NFL dumpster.

I hope they work on Kancey’s friggin’ calves
January 20th, 2025 at 10:21 am
Vita possibly had his best year as a Buc, so I am all for Kancey working with Suh. Especially when it comes to taking care of your body.

Very good to hear! Hopeful that our defensive backs, McCollum and Izien, Tykee Smith, in fact the whole secondary get into an offseason training. All of them need to work on ball skills throughout the entire offseason.

Uh oh…Brian Baldinger is gonna be pissed when he hears about this!

I hope everything Buc payer, all 3 phases get involved in off season training with other top pros that run an off season trying program. Offense was near Spectacular, special teams were decent, but our D needs better physicality and self discipline! LFG BUCS!!!

There should be a mandatory for all of our defensive line to go to SUHS training camp think how HALL BREWER JTS and YAYA would probably turn into complete savages well maybe not jts but you get it

Put Suh next to VV on the line.

“make Suh defensive line coach !!”
Not a bad idea except that Suh has bigger fish to fry. He’s a VERY successful entrepreneur and is now focused on his business interests. Football is a sideline now but he clearly misses aspects of the game, but not the time suck.
So he can work with the Bucs two guys and still get “some” football satisfaction.
This is awesome news especially for Calijah!!! As reported Suh didn’t miss games except for suspensions because he was a mean nasty player. Right now Calijah is the only “nasty” guy on the D. He and Suh were made for each other.

Suh was a diet expert. Suh changed VV diet and it produced 7 sacks.
Not sure how Suh helps CK? He’s a different player. More Sapp than Suh. We don’t want CK spending the summer with Sapp.

What the hell do the fringe players like brewer do in the offseason he knows a few guys who know suh so he could tag along

Very exciting news. Where is JTS going to train? How about Jamel Dean?
Tells us all we need to know about those two.

Maybe he can’t afford it or Suh keeps his training partners to a minimum.

Kancy is too smooth needs to bulk up a bit

What about the rest of the DL? Why aren’t they going to train with Suh?
Those that want to get better go to the best. Suh is HOF.

Hall has ONE more year to show himself, he should be there
January 20th, 2025 at 2:53 pm
Wonder what Hall is doing in the offseason. He got a bit better somehow.

“What about the rest of the DL? Why aren’t they going to train with Suh?”
My guess would be they haven’t been invited. Again Suh can be incredibly independent and give as much time to football as he wishes, but I suspect his business interests keep him very entertained and involved.
Suh has a Construction Management degree from the University of Nebraska and became friends with financial legend Warren Buffet the “Oracle of Omaha”.
Suh’s net worth would place him in the top ten of NFL players with the guys ahead of him all QB’s!

JTS is a free agent & probably won’t be back next season unless he accepts a cheap contract
January 20th, 2025 at 3:28 pm
That is great news. Vea looked very fit after the last time working out with Suh. It will be very effective for both of them this time around. Can’t wait to see the results.
