BSPN Predicts Liam Coen Returns To Bucs

January 18th, 2025

Staying put?

Joe predicted early this past season that Liam Coen was doing such a good job as the Bucs offensive coordinator, he’d be a head coach somewhere in 2025, NFL or college.

Joe is selfishly very happy to type that BSPN thinks Joe was dead wrong.

NFL insider Dan Graziano went through all the openings for NFL teams and predicted who would land the job. Graziano doesn’t believe Coen will be the new coach of the Jags, the only team for which Coen is known to have interviewed.

Graziano’s intel is that Buffalo offensive coordinator Joe Brady will be the next guy to try to develop Trevor Lawrence.

Yes, Joe already has an Uber scheduled to whisk Joe to Hooters to guzzle beer, scarf down some wings and watch football over this.

Speaking of Hooters, when is the Port Richey location going to finally re-open? C’mon, it’s the playoffs!

  2. KnoxvilleBuc Says:

Fantastic news. Coen has the potential, he just needs a larger body of work. The continuity will be huge for our offense and we can truly hone in on defense this offseason.

  3. darengibo Says:

Baker getting the same OC 2 years in a row?
    Wouldn’t that be a first?

  4. LEWI Says:

Siiiiiick, and I bet Bowles proves us wrong with a healthy defense next year with some new pieces. We can be pretty damn good.

  5. Doc Says:

    Who cares?

  6. Beeej Says:

After NEXT season, someone filches him we get a draft pick

  7. Irish Laughter Says:

Another year another no “super bowl”! Brady comes here and we win a Super Bowl and we should have won two or three. I love Baker, but stats don’t win Super Bowls, just ask the Dolphins (Marino). Keeping it real in Ireland.

  8. Bucfan Says:

Bowles MUST hire a d/c . Then he can focus on time management.

  9. CONFIDO75 Says:

Pay him and have him waiting in the wings if Bowles starts to lose control early in the season next year. Groom the dude to be the next HC.

  10. BallHawk75 Says:

It’s already been proven that Bowles cannot win playoff games with a top flight offense. He’s too conservative to wield it properly.

Imagine if Dungy had an offense like this one to go with his elite defense.

Unfortunately he too was way too conservative on offense.

Only Manning put him over the top. He got the Colts defense up to a championship caliber level though.

    Fire Bowles now!

Nice location. Back in the day would to stop there on my boat. Don’t get that way very often. Didn’t know it was closed. Was it the storm(s)?
    Yes, storm-related.–Joe

    Who cares?

Todd Bowles. Only reason he still has a job.

  13. Aqualung Says:

Liam was not detailed enough to overcome Bowles’ soft practice regimen. The offense shot itself in the head repeatedly over the last two games especially. Boneheaded play calls and lack of situational awareness really cost the team. Look, we all knew Bowles pass defense can’t stop anyone. Been that way since he arrived in Tampa (barring a few exceptions).

Liam showed he is a brilliant schemer but weak on details and in close games, a poor tactician. He’s definitely not ready to be a head coach.

Meanwhile, Dan Campbell would have had these same Bucs at 15-2.

  14. Durango 95 Says:

I would only advocate for Coen as HC if it came down to where it was a forced choice between one or the other. Coen fans can be objective.

  15. First Last Says:

This is good, but he needs to take a key from Dave Canales and reign in these silly mistakes in game. Especially in the 2nd quarter. Also why are we taking so many days off between games? Especially after a win? It is ridiculous. Too many injuries, too many mistakes.

    Fundamentals matter

  16. Tye Says:

If true then we know the Bucs will have 1 quality coach on the staff!

  17. Dave B Says:

    Thank you Lord.
He is an upgrade from DCanales.
He will get better and learn from this year. Liam is only 39! Just a kid. He’s going to grow in his craft. He’s got what it takes.
We need a defense coordinator and new talent. We will be great.

  18. BucVoyager Says:

Liam weak on details? Liam didn’t miss his landmarks and fumble. Like any other offense in the NFL, 2nd year is always better than the 1st.

  19. Tbbucs3 Says:

    BucVoyager

When your offense can’t execute basic handoffs in the 4th quarter of the NFL playoffs, that falls back on the coaching staff.

Bill Walsh 2.0 needs another year to develop before he has any chance at being an HC.

    darengibo Says:
Baker getting the same OC 2 years in a row?

    ^^^^^^^

This is a big deal for the entire team. 4 OCs in 4 years. Madness.

  21. Aqualung Says:

Voyager – mental mistakes made on the field, especially in pressure situations, especially by a rookie, correlate directly to the level of intensity applied during practice, relentless repetition, then those things become instinctual. There are too many mental mistakes and that reflects a change is necessary in practice regimen and attention to details. I agree it should get better in year two.

  22. Aqualung Says:

    Thank you Tbbucs3.

  23. GoneGator Says:

“Meanwhile, Dan Campbell would have had these same Bucs at 15-2.”

    LMFAO.
    Opinion, conjecture, projection.
Do you have anything that actually supports this conclusion? I expect not.

  24. 4-5straight Ls Says:

Good to have some continuity. Can he play DB or LB? Or edge?

  25. Aqualung Says:

GoneGator – he has the Lions at 15-2 with a more injury decimated roster than the Bucs. I know, you have to connect two or three dots to get it. Don’t rush.

  26. Aqualung Says:

    Go Algo Go

  27. Anyhony Says:

    @Beeeg: we don’t get a draft pick for a non-minority coaching change……(I think)

  28. GoneGator Says:

Bro – if only YOU could connect 2 or 3 dots we wouldn’t be having these pi$$ing contests – Lol. You’d have already figured out you were wrong about most things discussed on this site.

You keep saying things, people keep blowing holes in your logic, and you come back with a cute nickname or some kind of mis-direction move or an out of context stat that does nothing to prove your point.

  29. Tom S. Says:

Coen Sam Darnold’ing that playoff game cost him. Good for the Bucs, hopefully he can learn from the experience.

  30. Aqualung Says:

Charlie Brown’s teacher yammering more blind support for one of the worst passing defensive coaches in the league, as the data show. But at least she doesn’t know why never forcing a team to punt is a bad thing. Cue Forrest Gump again. Trying to reason with such is like trying to teach a horse to make a fist.
