Baker Mayfield Passing Chart Week 17

January 1st, 2025

Baker Mayfield

Baker Mayfield had one of his best days Sunday as a Bucs quarterback. And he pulled this off with only one completion over 20 yards.

As Joe has pointed out nearly weekly, it’s a dink-and-dunk offense but it is working damn well.

Mayfield on Sunday connected with nine different receivers. Now that’s what Joe calls balance, spreading the rock around to all sorts of receivers.

It seems Bucs offensive coordinator Liam Coen’s offense is getting open and Mayfield will find you.

Coen and Mayfield have to drive defensive coordinators batty. Yeah, it’s smart to focus on Mike Evans. But after him, where is Mayfield going with the ball? Nobody knows if eight other guys are catching passes from him.

Coen has this offense humming. Now, for all that is holy, don’t shat all over yourselves this Sunday, please.

    @ Farmer 🤣

    Nice!

Baker needs to have his best game against the Saints so the Bucs can ride high into the Playoffs to give the team MAXIMUM confidence!!!

  3. TheBucsAnthem Says:

I think Baker’s weak point in his game is….. he’s not a very accurate deep ball passer….. I always cringe whenever he launches a pass beyond 15 yards because we all know the WRs have to make some kinda adjustment to bring that deep pass in

  4. Beeej Says:

Yes, that 40 yard frozen rope that hit ME13 perfectly in stride at the goal line a couple weeks ago was WAYYYY off

  5. 74 Bucs Fan Says:

    What Beeej said. lol

  6. RVATom Says:

All depends how the line holds up Sun.

  7. GoneGator Says:

If Baker gets 221 yards and one touchdown this week, he’ll be the 2nd QB in history to ever have 4500 yards, 40 touchdowns, completing 70% in a season.

Drew Brees was the other FYI

  8. RustyRhinos Says:

15 passes past 10 yards, could be 16-17 which is half of our passes attempted. Dink-and-dunk?

  9. orlbucfan Says:

OLine will be fine. How about a lateral, Coen, or a flea-flicker? That will really put it to the Aints especially if Bucs score 6. Panthers are slightly better than the scumbag Aints, and Bucs pulverized them. Go get ‘em, Bucs!!

    GoneGator,

Interesting stuff. It was Drew Brees who said that Baker would be better than Drew Brees. It was RodMunch who said that Baker wasn’t as good as Jeff Garcia. Maybe Drew Brees is a “Baker Boi”?

When we have mentioned Baker would have a career similar to Drew Brees, howls of ridicule from the Muncher. Baker completing his 7th has better stats that Brees 1st 7 years. Baker just getting started. Next 10 years Mayfield in multiple Super Bowls. Hope it is with Tampa but, again, have learned from RodMunch that Baker isn’t a franchise QB. He is a “middling midget.” Have to live with your record, Muncher. Not going to let you forget.

    @Gipper
Some people have just been wrong, and loud about it. You can go back in the archives here to see just how wrong they’ve been. I agree, they should be reminded from time to time – lol.

The best thing about Baker, IMO, is that he knows he hasn’t reached his ceiling yet and is working to become better…. and he’s widely recognized NOW as a top 5 QB in the league.

  12. Not My NFL! Says:

@Farmer yes this is week 17 against the Panthers are you not considering the bye week?
