A Streak Snapped At The Licht House

January 5th, 2025

Rallying to win (the division).

So the Mike Evans streak wasn’t the only streak on Joe’s mind this afternoon. And thankfully, fortunately, this streak is oh-vah!

The Bucs entering today’s game against the slimy Saints were 0-6 this season when the opponent scored first. It was a baffling factoid. The Bucs offense was so good yet this team couldn’t ever overcome a measly 3-0 deficit.

Then, on Blake Grupe’s 35-yard field goal, the slimy Saints took a 3-0 lead.

Joe just wanted to shove his head in an oven.

How depressed was Joe? Joe seriously considered beginning to tap out stories on how the Bucs choked away a gift-wrapped NFC South title.

It wasn’t easy for the Bucs today. Last week Bucs coach Todd Bowles flatly stated the slimy Saints game would be a “dogfight.” Boy, was he right. The Bucs had to scratch and claw and fight right down to the last minute to pull out the win.

But here we are. The Bucs have another home game next weekend. The Bucs, for the fourth-straight season, are NFC South champions.

That grotesque streak of letting the opponent score first and win is now a thing of the past.

…Total team win bro. It doesn’t happen without all 53 on deck and ready to go. They were ready and go they went. Too many “fans” discount the team and efforts they put out. Bake did bake, but Bucky, JMac, M1K3, Vea, YaYa, Mccullum, Mike Edwards, McGlaughin and others got the memo. Team victory.

Baker was an absolute beast in the 4’th quarter. Baker is a dawg!

  5. SB~LV Says:

Bowles DID NOT have his team ready for the game today.
The Saints had only PRIDE to play for and they nearly beat the Bucs in the RayJay today!
Bowles had EVERYTHING to play for and came out FLAT again.
The Bucs OL were manhandled today!
Bowles has only one gear and while rah rah only goes so far, it certainly has a time and place in competition!
Happy for the win today but there is a systemic problem and it’s Todd Bowels

What a game. Division games even when your opponent is not doing good record wise always seem to be dog fights. Not all of them but man more than not they seem to be close.

  7. Jmarkbuc Says:

Bowles should be forced to hire a DC the same way Tony was forced to hire Les Steckel.

  8. BucsfanMatt Says:

    Taaaaaaaammmmmmmmppppppaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!

  9. Pahpahmike Says:

After #17 dropped that wide open pass, I stopped watching I had seen enough. the Bucs came out flat again. Nevertheless, happy we pulled it off any very, very happy Evans got that 1000

  10. Zzbucs Says:

All the Bowls detractors, swallow it…….
He shut your mouths once again……

Despite injuries and lack of depth and talent, he delivered again…..

You want him out long time ago……

    Shut up and apologize…

    In Bowles I trust!!!!,!

  11. Jmarkbuc Says:

Baker was 0-43 after trailing by 10 or more..

  12. rrsrq Says:

I have no idea why people think the Saints would lay down today. They have vets on defense that was ready to play with pride. Bucs dropped 50 last time so no way were they going to let that happen again. Against the Bucs defense, it’s easy when you throw the ball within 2 seconds which they did. If it took a coach to fire the team up for today then the team doesn’t deserve to win. They know the stakes.

  13. Anyhony Says:

    Great Day!!!

  14. HC Grover Says:

I knew they would win. It was simple. No doubt from the git go…..

  15. Lightningvinny Says:

So the real good Bucs show up next week and we beat wash (hopefully )

  16. Toronto Buc Fan Says:

Bowles’ defense has allowed an average of 4.33 second half points since the bye. Here is list of second half points allowed since then:

    Saints – 3 points
    Panthers – 0 points
    Cowboys – 3 points
    Chargers – 0 points
    Raiders – 3 points
    Panthers – 10 points
    Giants – 7 points

As Gronk said during the halftime show, “Bowles is a master at halftime adjustments”

  17. FrontFour Says:

Bowles’ D stepped up huge in the second half. Only 3 points total and that after a short field after a Baler INT. And held them again after the mishandled snap and only a 14 yard punt at mid field.

  18. Zzbucs Says:

Bowles detractors should think with the brain, not with the feet…
Evidence keeps shutting them down over and over again….

  19. Bartow Buc Says:

Hey Joe I’m glad we snapped the streak and won this game 27-19 !!! Good teams find a way to win !!!!

We got more game !!!! I’m very happy for the Buccaneers!! Baker stirred up the emotion needed with his fighting spirit !! ME 13, Jalen McMillan, Sterling Shepherd, our Tight Ends, Tucker, Bucky, White and entire defense played their hearts out!!!

This is an example of how the team loves Todd Bowles, they play with everything they have, they never quit fighting!!

I am very excited to find out who we play next weekend as NFC South Division Champs!!!

    Go Bucs !!!!

  20. Miller5252 Says:

Hey Joe, for the folks watching the game on TV we got to watch Browning punt the ball for 10 yards and about 2 minutes later they panned over to him meditating on the bench. Haha oh man I hope you guys send out some memes for it.

  21. Bartow Buc Says:

Hey Toronto !! I love those stats, and yes Super Bowl winning Todd Bowles is a master of halftime adjustments!!

NFC South Champs 4 consecutive seasons!!!

    Go Bucs !!!!

  22. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

Bowels coaches in the weakest division in football. Every team faces adversity and injuries. Do you think Bowels will ever coach this team to a Super Bowl win? Hell no. Again, he is the worst in game coach in the league. He proved it again today with his stupid timeout call at the end of the 1st half, giving Rattler 1:03 on the clock to go down the field and score.

  23. Ex-Browns02 Says:

My personal opinion is that coach Bowles very often puts is team in a distressing positions because of his early-game strategies. But — we all have to acknowledge that his players love him and will do what it takes to bring home a win regardless. This most certainly means something!

I’m hoping that Liam is patient enough to hang (with the right compensation!) until he’s named Tampa Bay’s next Head Coach!

  24. Dubcity Says:

    Bowles is awesome

    He is the HC

The team is built around the offense. Thats where all the money is.

Defense has holes and just has to try to complement the offense.

That’s the way the team is built.

A defensive minded HC and the GM built a strong offense and then a defense that can be opportunistic.

No team is perfect. The other teams get paid too.

Yet, another division title. Winning 10 games is not easy w a 1st place schedule.

The team has gotten progressively better since he took over.

Bowles chose to pursue Baker, to start Baker over Trask, and to turn the offense over to Baker.. thats on Bowles

The team loves him, Baker loves him, and so do I.

    Go Bucs

    ——————————–
Go look over the history of the Bucs’ seasons over decades. They were never given ‘cupcake’ seasons. They would finish in last place, double digit loss seasons, but nope, no cupcake schedules.

  26. gotbbucs Says:

Bowles drives me absolutely nuts. That’s all I can really say about the guy. I honestly don’t know how you can come out and play defense so horribly in the first half and then shut teams down completely in the second half.
You just can’t do that against good teams. At some point, your first half game plan has to be better. Whether it ends up being Detroit, Minnesota, GB, or Washington, we can not afford to be that weak in the 1st half against those teams.

  27. 74 Bucs Fan Says:

Hey Joe – how about avoiding writing “don’t choke” at kickoff!? Scared me when you wrote that.

    Go Bucs!

  28. Jmarkbuc Says:

Funny how we solved our kicker woes with Chase, but now can’t field a punter.

    I just don’t get Camarda.…

  29. Haleywould Says:

The Bucs averaged 39 points per game against the Saints this year.. LOL

  30. MelvinJunior Says:

THE ‘biggest’ (craziest) streak (I believe I’ve ever seen), that was snapped was the streak that Baker had of NEVER ‘winning’ a game when DOWN-10 before… If I read and saw that right!? Something like, 0 FOR 40-something!? Now, THAT was crazy!!!! Mind-Blowing. He must not be about playing/coming from behind. Very Amazing Stat & if true, goes against EVERYTHING he is supposedly, all about. He must be like ARodgers… A Frontrunner. Cannot play from behind, obviously. THIS needs to be the next ‘narrative’ that Baker MUST change.

  31. Noclu4u Says:

Question for all my fellow Bucs fans .
Who would you rather have as head coach the next 5 years Todd Bowles or Liam Coen ?
    This should be interesting.

  32. bob in valrico Says:

No matter what division a team is in, if you win the division, you get other division winners on your schedule next year. Fortunately we won more of those games than expected and had a chance steal one from Kansas City if Toodd had gone for two. He may have learned something from it because he went for it on fourth and eight and changed the momentum of the game along with some timely runs and passes from Baker in the second half.

  33. ballwasher61 Says:

Coach’s coach and players play, it’s on the backs of the players to perform, the coach can only do so much. How many times have we heard TB say there was a lack of communication on D when they don’t play well and then praises the communication when they play well, as do the players. That’s a real thing to be on the same page. The offense came out flat and you can’t do that in the playoff’s and they know that. But every game is a dog fight, no one lays over, they just play bad or have a lack of talent. We’ve had injuries early and often this year all through the year, the top records in the NFC have been spared until the later half of the year. It makes a big difference, but we really shouldn’t have had to come down to the last game to clinch it.

  34. garro Says:

Crazy stat and I was staring down the Whirlpool too, but decided I did not want to miss Mike httting his record….

We gotta stop this nonsense! My shrink says so!

    Go Bucs!
