Tony Dungy: Mike Evans Says He Can Finally Go Deep

The NBC Sunday Night Football crew has been busy prepping for its next game, Bucs at Cowboys.
That includes Hall of Fame head coach turned NBC media analyst Tony Dungy. A Tampa local, he was at One Buc Palace this week and shared, via NBC, that Mike Evans told him that his injured hamstring has only just come back to life completely.
The comment came during a sitdown with Todd Bowles, who agreed with him emphatically.
“When I was out on the field today, he told me this is the part that’s back after the hamstring injury,” Dungy said. “There was a time for a couple of weeks where he couldn’t go deep. Defenders knew that and they were sitting down on him. Now he can go by them.”
Bowles was in full agreement.
“Now he’s back and he can go by them, and you can see the big plays starting to show and we’re going to need every one of them down the stretch,” Bowles said.
Joe is glad to hear Evans thinks he’s now at full strength.
In what was a fun display of coachspeak, Bowles said last month that Evans had a full “green light” after his hamstring injury while Buccaneers Ring of Honor general manager Jason Licht said at the same time that Evans was “100 percent.”
He wasn’t.
Now he is, and that’s sweet music for an already singing Bucs offense.

Mike is back and we are loving it. So happy he is fully healthy again. Watching him catch the ball and drive into the end zone is stunning every single time. Tony Dungy is such a humble and great person. The players respect him so much too.

When ME13 easily hopped over that DB in a recent win, I thought yep, that hammy’s just about healed. No way could he make an agile move like that one with an ailing hammy. He’s also helping out his teammates in practice instructing and showing them receiving tricks. I really have a good feeling about tomorrow night. Go ME13 (HOF) and Bucs!!

@Jimbob how is he underrated ?? I mean even with all of his bragged about consistency and what a great wr he’s been for us he still will drop a lot of balls doesn’t like contact and will sometimes cut off routes when going over the middle to avoid it also comes out of the game every other play and he’s not even 1 of the top 5 WRs league-wide so if anything he’s overrated unless you just wanna be a homer and act like you want to marry him like a lot of these guys.

ME13 is as tough as they come! Season after season he plays with hamstring injuries that sidelines most other skill players. When he hurdled that defensive back a couple of games ago, I thought for sure his season would come to an abrupt end! BUT NO!!! Who says you can’t teach old dogs new tricks! Another 1000 yards ME13!! You can do it!!!!
