Todd Bowles Wants Players To Be Passionate
December 12th, 2024Joe already brought word how Mike Evans was emotionally invested in the Bucs’ game with Las Vegas on Sunday.
Evans was seen hollering encouragement at teammates and throwing his helmet in disgust when plays weren’t made.
And Bucs coach Todd Bowles seemed to be encouraged with how dialed in his future Hall of Fame receiver was. He’d like more players to emulate Evans.
“Yeah, he was into it,” Bowles said Wednesday. “He was into it and yelling at defensive guys – offensive guys, defensive guys, that’s what you want.
“This is not church here, we’re not going to be standing there getting ready to sing a song. We do a very good job – the guys do a very good job of holding people accountable when they need it.”
Joe would like to see more of this. And would love to hear of stories like this in practice.
Yeah, Joe knows periodically Lavonte Davis will speak up — like he did at halftime.
Like Bowles said, it ought to be more players holding their teammates to high standards, not just David and Evans.

Has anyone asked coach what he thought of Dean’s double whiff especially in a 4th down situation, and what coach is doing to correct Dean from doing it again?
Nice to see Mikey and LVD bringing some authenticity. Coach needs to also. Some leading by example would be refreshing.

Dean needs to go
December 12th, 2024 at 3:02 am
Careful.
When Dean got hurt and went on IR, the Bucs nosedived into a four-game losing streak. He returns and they are 2-0.

We should’ve kept Carlton David n let Dean go two years ago. He had a pick six against ARodgers in regular season game in 2020 n it was pure luck. He is slow to pick up the mental aspect of the game. He’s a passive n awful tackler for a player his size. His mind in my opinion is that of a high school player. He n JTS are the same type of players. Both have physical attributes but lacks football intelligence, are passive, slow to react, poor tacklers, n non aggressive.

That sounded alot like BA speaking. Gruden was lucky enough to have a couple of guys like Sapp and Brooks who I have learned would call guys out.
I had teammates who were like Mike. They would get on you if you where screwing up. That was fine but when a coach did it? It tended to get me in gear a bit quicker… Like he might just bench me… quicker. Hope Bowles had a few choice words as well.
Go Bucs!

I would like Todd Bowles to be passionate. Physician, heal thyself.

could be the difference in making the playoffs or not… leadership from the vets

Big kudos to Mike and Lavonte! Loving their passion.

So how many games has the Carlton (Dance) played for the Lions this year? Seems like he is more times than not on their injury report.

Evan’s best be careful because his drops may crop up and cost the Bucs a game. Who will hold him accountable

Stfu baker fan, gtfoh with that trash post.
December 12th, 2024 at 7:40 am
Bakerfan – Mike has a great record. One of the best wide receivers.
December 12th, 2024 at 7:45 am
I’m sure players want you to be more passionate to ghost face.

I am a Baker fan. I am also a Mike Evans and Lavonte David fan. None are perfect in every way conceivable. They also provide the kind of leadership needed in the ugly games during our season.
Go Bucs, Take down the Chargers!

The. younger players know who to respect in that locker room. I like the fact that the Bucs don’t have diva showoffs, even among guys eventually heading for Canton. Go Bucs, and beat the Chargers!

This article must have been posted for it’s comedic value. Bowles is as emotional as a corpse. His people accountable ? Stupendous!!!

Pewter Power Says: “I’m sure players want you to be more passionate to ghost face.”
Ghostface is a fictional character from the movie Scream. Just saying.

The only “Passionate” I saw last game, was from the Raiders as they.dominated 2nd and 3rd quarters while Beating the Bucs in all phases of Defense.

That is SO rich coming from Bowles. I’m beginning to think that Bowles really has nothing to say and has comments scripted for him. It is one contradiction after another.
This is a perfect example of what I mean when I say that this team has no identity. Bowles is a walking enigma.
Some time back I commented about Bowles lack of passion and soon afterward he shows up at the podium and hilariously shouts “I’m excited !”
Beckles has it right. Bowles is an overachiever. He has overachieved his way to mediocrity.
In spite of my comments, I like the man. I just want to see the team that I have followed for nearly half a century compete with a legitimate franchise QB (we now have one) and an indisputable head coach.

Apparently the algorithm took offense when I labeled the HC a “walking e.n.i.g.m.a.”

Now that Evans has gotten attention for throwing his helmet, there will be helmets thrown everywhere, every week. Just like everyone hurtling after Barkley did it.
