Todd Bowles Offers “Love” For Logan Hall
December 21st, 2024Joe guesses many fans do not share Bucs coach Todd Bowles’ enthusiasm for third-year defensive lineman Logan Hall.
A high-second-round pick, Hall is more a rumor than an impact player. At least statistically. But Bowles raved about the Houston product yesterday after practice.
“Logan has been playing very well,” Bowles said. “[I] love where he’s at playing the run.
“He’s incorporated a pass rush to his arsenal as well. He’s helped us out a great deal this year.”
Well, to be fair to Hall and Bowles, Hall is showing up (sort of) in the pass rush. He has 4.5 sacks, fourth-best on the Bucs. That sack total is also Hall’s best of his career since being drafted in 2022. Not exactly Reggie White numbers but Hall does have more sacks than any Bucs edge rusher (!). So there’s that.
Hall doesn’t have many tackles (21 combined), but Joe believes that’s not a fair measurement of an inside defensive lineman. Unless a team runs right at an interior lineman, it’s very unusual for one to rack up a bunch of tackles like, say, a linebacker or a safety who has room to run and can cover more real estate.
Selected with the first pick of the second round, Hall is someone Bucs fans want to see produce more, but it’s not like Hall is an empty body.

He’s been solid and that forced fumble against the Panthers saved our season.

None of us should be mad about a 2nd round pick that might be the new Gholston out there for another 6-7 years. If he is just now starting to reach his potential, we will take 4-6 sacks from an interior DL who can help shut down the run any day of the week. He’s a large human.
He hasn’t been as impactful as I hoped for the 33rd pick, trust me but if he accepts reasonable contracts to stick around, you could do a lot worse!

Agreed^^
Solid player and draft pick. Not flashy, but improving and contributing. Always got to have big bodies to eat up blockers. He had more sacks this year than JTS has had any year, lol

I always pictured him as our next Gholston (who IS a beast) father time catches all of us. Hopefully he’s learning more about what works and what doesnt.

How many snaps per game is he gettinJoe? and 1/2 sacks from a back up DT seems more than usual production joe?

@GoneGator
The forced fumble in Carolina was Anthony Nelson “The Babyfaced Assassin” #98

You guys are nuts. He’s a stiff. But go ahead and embrace mediocrity.

Hall is a natural fit as a 4-3 defensive end. He’s not a 3-4 defensive tackle. If he rushed from the edge instead of inside he’d have twice the amount of sacks then he does now. Hall would’ve done much better under Monte Kiffen, that’s the defense he’s better suited for.

I agree hodad

Never imagined Hall would have more sacks than YaYa Diaby. I am starting to wonder if the Bucs need better coaching for their edge rushers.

Sometimes selecting a Defensive lineman is a trap shot. Logan is not a Watt or a Bosa,
The Bucs are getting sacks with Vea and now Kansey…add in Logan and Yaya the Bucs rush is coming together for a run at the playoffs and maybe the Super Bow.

Great article. But can he cover?

Now..about that empty body JTS.
December 21st, 2024 at 9:00 am
I’ve noticed him in a good way. Keep improving, Logan.
December 21st, 2024 at 9:07 am
Hall has almost all his sacks this season from the edge. I would play him there more often. Can’t be worse than JTS who is absolutely useless. If I have to watch him be forced wide right out of the play one more time I’m going to puke.

Hall has been solid this year

Logan Hall is a key part of the defensive front. It’s a team sport Joes. Stop counting individual stats on the Def line. Bowles teaches them to play their gap and stop the run and then they rush as a group. He’s not a bust he’s a good young defensive lineman with upside and he’s improving.

Better DE than Joe T the arm sleeve Dancer !

Hard to believe Hall was drafted in 2022. This is one young team for the most part. He’s learning and contributing. And JTS? Me thinks I value Bowles’ opinion over blog yakkers. He’s starting and playing him cos he’s contributing, too. Now, let’s break the SNF record and beat the Cowmanure, Bucs! Beware of the refs.

Really Funny.

If Hall can stay healthy, he produces.
The problem has been staying healthy.

Just because he has more sacks than our edge rushers is no reason to write an article about him. If I weighed as much as Hall I think I could have gotten 4.5 sacks by now. The only reason for high lighting him is when comparing him to JTS. Has JTS EVER bull-rush or finesse an OL and sack the QB? Ever? I’d like to see a clip where he did.
I feel sorry for JTS. With all his physicality, he should do well. He hasn’t and my wonderment is that he is still playing and often starting. WTF?
Roster spots are valuable spots for quality backups. Extra body in any group is critical at this time of year. Yet, there is JTS. At least Hall show some sign of improvement.

The great news is Hall is
slightly better than JTS. Joe Tryon is a girl scout at best.
