“They’re The Team No One In The NFC Wants To See”
December 20th, 2024Find out what it’s like to hit on a big-time touchdown through the eyes of Baker Mayfield and future Hall of Fame receiver Mike Evans thanks to the magic of virtual reality.
Or more to the point, former Bucs quarterback Dan Orlovsky of ESPN brings viewers into the world of virtual reality, NFL style!
Retired eight-year NFL receiver Andrew Hawkins and Orlovsky set up the scene: Mayfield is about to throw his 35-yard touchdown to Evans against the Chargers. Viewers are in shotgun formation right behind Graham Barton and also inside the helmet of Evans at the line of scrimmage.
Orlovsky shows what Mayfield sees and what Mayfield is looking for in determining where he should go with the ball.
Then, Orlovsky shows, from Evans’ vantage point, what he’s looking at and why he ran his route the way he did.
Joe found this to be really cool.

Graham Barton I absolutely love this guy. Has some work to do with his snap count and footwork, but has progressed nicely considering the talent he’s gone up against and the fact he hasn’t played C since his freshman year of college. He’s a great talent and I think he’s very much like Ali Marpet. His wide broad shoulders and large upper body strength are great for the position and is definitely a need in the Oline. That fact that’s he so quick for his size and strength is also a plus. Many good OL are simply too slow or just too small and weak. That’s the issue. He’s got the goods. Hope we can master his talent and showcase him in a few years with an improved LG. No offense , but Ben Bresdon isn’t making this guy standout as much as the announcers think. A true young talent at LG would be better imo. I mean experience and price is a thing though I guess.

That is really cool. Thanks for sharing Joe.

I want that thing.

Dang….that was a lot of info for Baker, Evans and the rest of the offense to absorb pre snap.

For the casual football fan, there’s no real understanding of how complex and mentally demanding this sport is. It’s not just a matter of handing the ball off or throwing to the open man. A ton of planning, practice, and effort go into a successful play. Kudos Joe for this demonstration!

Three TDs and 100% completion rate in the second half. Just let that resonate for a moment. That is, if you are a fan. But if you are a player or coach you better be thinking about Dallas because they will be playing for survival. And they proved last week that they still have a defense. And Cooper Rush can still play poorly but make still make some key plays. This is the wrong team to let down against.

That was excellent.

Think about this! We’ve lost 2 games to Atlanta. 1 loss to KC. 1 loss to SF. 3 of those games were decided by the FINAL PLAY!! Our other 2 losses were to Baltimore and Denver. We jumped in Baltimore out of the gate and were a dropped pass from a 17-0 lead. Lost Evans and Baker lost it, then we lost Godwin. The only game we weren’t close to winning was Denver. I thought we were the best team in the league coming into the season and I think we’re getting better every day.

Joe you muffed the headline. “They’re the team no one in the NFL wants to see”.

Me likey that still pic. Two great football players getting set to high-five. My old man is a high-tech whiz (retired) so I’m surrounded by virtual reality stuff. It is cool to watch when competent folks do it though.

orlbucfan I’d like to have that picture blown up to poster size and hang it up on the wall of my man-cave. Ok it’s a workshop but I call it my man-cave.

Thanks for that, Joes. Holy mackerel. As stated by others – The game is way more mentally deep than we fans realize.

That’s great stuff, Joe. The game looks a lot easier when you are playing TV couch QB. The game is fast and played by defenders who are trying to maul.

Yeah it does!
