“That Is A Testament To The Coaching Staff”
December 17th, 2024Liam Coen and his offensive staff are starting to get love on the national hollering shows. And Joe believes those props for the Bucs’ first-year offensive coordinator and his assistants are absolutely earned.
Coen’s exploits are even getting shout outs from the other side of the ball in the Bucs’ locker room.
After the game Joe was talking with Lavonte David and he was very, very impressed with how the offense took care of business, giving the Bucs defense a cushion to work with while racking up 40 points on the NFL’s previously best-scoring defense.
Prior to Sunday’s game in Los Angeles, the Chargers were allowing an average of 16 points a game. Scoring 40 points destroyed that average.
“Forty points? Huge, huge!” David said. “That is a testament to the coaching staff who came up with a great gameplan.”
It wasn’t just the gameplan but the minute details. The precise blocking set up the Chargers defense to focus so much on Mike Evans that it allowed Jalen McMillan to sneak past the defense.
How good has the offensive coaching been? Well, the running game speaks for itself. But look at Baker Mayfield. He was hailed for having a career year last year. This year, he’s on pace to put up more career-high numbers.
Mayfield currently has 3,617 yards passing. Last year he set a personal high-water mark with 4,044 yards passing. Mayfield only needs to average 142 yards a game to top that.
Mayfield has already thrown for 32 touchdowns, a career-high. And his current completion percentage of 70.8 percent is a career-high.
The Bucs are humming and a lot of credit goes to Coen and his assistants.

Coen needs to be kept at all cost. PAY THE MAN!
Make him Assistant HC!
Something needs to happen to keep him.

Everyone has Coen up for all kinds of praise and awards BUT while an OC can wreak a QB’s year, they can’t make a great QB. Baker Mayfield has the raw talent to be a great QB. Coen has helped Mayfied become a great QB. The talent was there Liam just pushed it forward.
Btw, where is Trask to the dumpster these days?

I have to admit that before the Chargers game, I was skeptical that the Bucs were anything more than an average team. (A 7-6 record certainly supported that.) But given that the Chargers were fighting for a playoff spot, the Bucs crushing them in their house has me thinking we might have something here. If we can take care of business in the last three games and maybe get a little healthier on defense, maybe we can take out one of those NFC North teams in Round 1.

This was the same kind of near -perfect games we put up against Detroit and Philly, hope we got all the Atlanta -type games out of us

This is by far the most fun offense to watch in Bucs history. I love the screen pass game, there are many different forms. Let’s put another 500 yard 40 burger out there Sunday night at the JerryCows. And Rachaad – please pancake Michelle Parsons at least as hard as Lenny did in the 2022 opener.

The offense is carrying the team. I’d hate to see what it looks like if we lose another coordinator after one season especially this one

If we had been asked at the start of the season whether an 8-6 record, a four game win streak and a one game lead in the Division with just three to play…I think the response would have been largely you bet!
It’s been a wild ride to this point. Along the way I think everybody sees the core or nucleus of a SB contender in the coming years with a couple more Jason Licht drafts. The most important position is set with Baker. 3 talented, one of them UBER talented, RB’s and what IMHO has been the major difference in this years team.
The never say die was displayed last season so that didn’t shock me. The most pleasant surprise has been “The Asskickers”.
A name coined by Chris Simms it fits perfectly with this freaking awesome line.
They’ve all come together at just the right time and their style of play is as inspirational as Bucky’s runs.
The OL has set a TONE for the entire team, one that even the D feeds off of.
They come to play and they execute well as a unit, with plays well designed and called by Coen…but at the end of the day,,,they freaking kick ass!
What is more inspiring for a football team than a line MEAN enough, PHYSICAL enough to dictate the play?

They only defense that wants to face our offense right now is our own defense.
You can take that to the bank!!!!
Let’s Buck, Tuck, White and Bake!!!!!!!!

I said it last season, Mayfield was the reason Canales got that HC job. But Coen is actually good. We have to keep them together.

Coen and Bake have rightly gotten their props and we need to keep Coen at all costs. Part of the run game success goes to the TE’s and WR’s blocking. TE coach Justin Peelle came in this year as well as new WR coach Bryan McClendon, good work from those guys.

I always like LVD pics. Offense is jelling. Good thing cos Defense is still too many walking wounded

could Trask thrive in this offense? maybe he’ll play the last game and show the league he’s ready!
December 17th, 2024 at 11:53 pm
what’s the likelihood the bucs would let godwin play in say, the NFC Divisional? he said it was “a slow grind” but as a free agent you would think the Bucs would let Godwin make the call. tough spot for Chris. no idea what i would do in his spot.

AGREED!!!!

Why all the hate for our #2 QB? Did he take your GF? Slap your mom? P on your daddy’s shoes in the bathroom? He is a Buccaneer QB our #2 QB this year, and last year. I do not get all the hate against a very good College QB. Who was drafted when we had Brady, and Brady’s chosen vet back up behind him making Trask his back up..
We signed a guy to be QB # 3 will he get this same treatment, from JBFans?

No hate on trask but I’m glad our number one is in good shape and playing healthy enough
