Sneaky Raiders Weapon Could Be Unleashed

December 7th, 2024

Key factor on Sunday?

While the Bucs should be focused on stud rookie tight end Brock Bowers (or for that matter talented second-year tight end Michael Mayer) that just may allow a guy in the slot to sneak up on the Bucs and burn their underbelly (middle of the field).

That would be receiver Jakobi Meyers. As Mason Cameron of the PFF tribe points out, since Week 11, Meyers has come alive with new Raiders offensive coordinator Scott Turner.

In that timeframe, Meyers has six catches of 15 or more yards.

Turner likes to use Meyers out of a slot. That means Meyers, in a perfect world, would go up against Tykee Smith on Sunday.

However, it’s unknown if Smith will play. He’s a gametime decision, Bucs coach Todd Bowles said yesterday. So if the Bucs go with Christian Izien, would Turner try to sneakily matchup Meyers on a backup nickel corner as the Bucs likely will be so focused on Bowers?

Izien has played solid ball this year. Still, he’s a backup.

If Smith doesn’t start, Joe fully expects Izien to get tested.

Clueless Todd and his staff of losers won’t be able
    to stop the Raiders.

  2. Woodenman Says:

    Thanks Jeff like your consistency.

  3. John Sinclear Says:

Suggestion for Jeff – If you are so much smarter and more capable than Coach, why don’t you submit your resume to Joel Glazer for the head coaching job? I am sure that if Mr. Glazer is as impressed with your knowledge and experience as you seem to be, he would be happy to arrange an interview for you!

  4. Statguy Says:

They don’t need to be sneaky. Britt can’t cover bowers

Jeff was born a hemorrhoid. A real pain in the ass

  6. Mike Johnson Says:

Baker is going to have to be on his A game come Sunday. We all know the Raiders will score. We just have to outscore them because We also know…Our Defense cannot stop a parked car.

I hope the Bucs keep their eyes on Meyers. Sounds like Turner was the perfect OC for him. They came alive against KC. The Bucs have to go in like the Giants game. Stack the points early and keep them. Go Bucs!

  8. Bartow Buc Says:

Joe, it’s never easy to win in the NFL. The 2-10 Raiders would love nothing more than to travel 2,100 miles and defeat our Bucs ! But, I believe that our highly ranked offense (run game and explosive pass game ) will weigh heavy on the Raiders. Also, our defense should hold them to less than 20 points. I believe the Bucs win at home against the Raiders !! Can’t wait to watch another exciting game !!

Go Bucs !! Beat the Raiders !!

  9. El HEFE Says:

Seems like after our game with Kansas everyone is almost beating them that’s not odd

  10. El HEFE Says:

I meant to say isn’t that odd

  11. Lt. Dan Says:

Jakobi Meyers listed as questionable with (in the voice of Greg Schiano) an ankle.

  12. Beeej Says:

I’m REALLY interested in who he puts in now that Britt is out. Bet D is much improved

  16. HC Grover Says:

    December 7 sneak attack.

  17. GoneGator Says:

KC got very lucky against them…. eventually they’ll start running out of luck in these super tight games.

Raiders looked perfectly capable of playing us tough, or beating us if we don’t play up to our potential.

  18. RVATom Says:

If the Raiders legitimately try to win, then they’re dumber than Jeff’s posts. Stack those high draft picks O Town…error Vegas…

  19. gotbbucs Says:

Bowers will have 19 receptions for 215 yards.

  20. David S Pear Says:

The Raiders could trot a ferret out there to play receiver and it would have 6 catches for 90 yards and a TD.
