Sloppy Bucs

December 23rd, 2024

Is there a reason why the Bucs fumble the ball more than any team in the NFC?

Joe doesn’t get it. There were three more fumbles tonight and one became a Rachaad White turnover to the Cowboys that ended the Bucs’ potential game-winning drive at the Bucs’ 31 yard line. Another was a Baker Mayfield cough-up that ended with the Bucs having a 3rd-and-40 play. (Yes, 40).

The Bucs fumble nearly twice per game.

Recovering a fumble is nice, which the Bucs are pretty good at doing, but protecting the football is far better.

It was a Bucky Irving fumble late against Atlanta that surely cost the Bucs a win. Tonight it was White with a fumble that maybe cost the Bucs a win.

Todd Bowles overly obsesses about turnovers. Joe’s almost starting to move toward Bowles’ corner. Protect the damn ball. It’s a pretty basic concept.

    Dayum Joe.

Bucs will be deeyham lucky to finish 9-8. I knew after the Falcons whipped us tewice, we were going absolutely nowhere. Being a Buc fam before many of you were born, I knew not to believe the HYPE. Seen countless of these rodeos.

  3. BucsBeast Says:

Bowles can’t stop a calm breeze on defense.
23 points to a backup QB in the 1st half.

  4. Pewter Power Says:

I guess with 2 games to go Todd Bowles can still go back to the fundamentals and coach it better

And if the refs had called the personal foul from the helmet to helmet hit just before he coughed it up… It would have been a 1st down deep in Dallas territory.

    But they didn’t

There’s an awful lot of money changing hands in sanctioned gambling on these games. I wonder if the refs will ever be audited for fixing games like they do.

  6. Bucfan1988 Says:

Still don’t think Bucs D played all that bad other than missing a few tackles, and still lack of pass rush..

    1) Completely shut down the run
    2) Shut down Cowboys offense in 2nd half…only 3 points
    3) Only allowed 323 net yards

    Here’s what isn’t talked about:

Dallas got all these extra yards in first half due to piss-poor officiating that extended plays and yards for Dallas.
    Such as:

    1) Lavonte David blitz up the middle that Dowdle engaged then he took David down, but NO CALL for holding?? David was like what the hell waiving his hands in the air…

    2) Next immediate play was the defensive holding on Zyon but then during the play CD Lamb pushed Zyon in the back to create space to catch the long pass when Zyon beat him to the spot and was in front of him running. BLATENT OPI that was NOT CALLED….

Those are BS extra yards that Rush got credit for due to horrendous officiating….

Bucs forced long field goals from Dallas but they have a good kicker that is now probably top 3 in the league…

Bucs only hope is now cheering for Washington but also, the Bucs being a 7.5 point fave over Carolina is a bit mind boggling. Logic says load up on the Panthers,. Bucs will be lucky to beat Carolina, let alone cover that spread. Bowles chokes in the clutch and tonight it seemed like the whole team got the yips. The Bucs play as bad on primetime national TV as they do when they wear those cursed creamsicle uniforms. I was really hoping the NFL would flex the Cowboys but that was not in the cards. Bucs choke again in the national spotlight and that in the end is on the head coach. I am guessing the Glazers know this and perhaps open a line of communication with Coen’s agent.

I’m 55. I’ve grown up as a Buccaneer. Not a fan. I’m a Buccaneer. I’ve been through far more than any in the team directory. There are bound to be some more around here that relate and agree. Exasperating hope has been the most common sense I’ve had with my tenure on this team. I can’t root against us for any reason. Yet I’m finding myself looking ahead, indifferent, with one huge exasperating hope. Bowles is elevated to a front office role.

He’s a decent dude. It’s hard to say, please fire anyone. It’s harder to wish it on Bowles, but he’s got to be relieved of duties. Whatever is in his personality, it’s not what any team needs.

But, I have another fear. Licht hasn’t shown a proclivity to make good choices hiring a head coach. The one he got right, Arians, was the obvious choice. Is there another choice that obvious? Don’t say Coen. It probably should be his opportunity because of what it means for the offense. That doesn’t make him obvious like Arians was at that time.

  9. Bucfan1988 Says:

    GP, totally agree….

    This league is fixed!!
    I wouldn’t give them a cent.

There were so many BS calls and non-calls that went against Tampa tonite it was pathetic…..

Definitely think Trumps DOJ should investigate some of the stuff we see.
Especially with Kansas City Chief games as well.

Joe please stop obsessing with post season/playoffs. We need to win the next game. Nothing more than that. Just simply the next game, the Bucs post season hopes and dreams are not reality. Unless the Bucs beat the Panthers and then beat the Saints there will be no post season. The Bucs should of been much better earlier in the season and not lost twice to the Falcons and now to the Cowboys. Perhaps we do not belong in the post season if we cannot beat these teams. Focus your energies on getting Todd Bowles fired. We need a better defense.

  11. firethecannons Says:

Ft Myers Dave says this:”The Bucs play as bad on primetime national TV as they do when they wear those cursed creamsicle uniforms.” this is totally true, they are awful in prime time and awful in creamsicle uni’s. Honestly though–we need to stop thinking post season and focus on beating the Panthers. We are what our record says we are: mediocre and nothing more, STOP DREAMING

  12. capnhowdy Says:

@gp regarding your statement on $$ changing hands, the NFL is officially registered as a sports entertainment league which legally allows them to “fix” their games.

  13. MadMax Says:

McMillan and White should be forced to carry that dam ball at all times and others try to knock it out….that was some BS, and not Todd’s fault

  14. The Placebo Kid Says:

Present Carolina squad beats this team.
Mike doesn’t get 1000 yards and we have to finally admit he has lost a step after letting Bowles walk after the season.
Time to focus on the draft and stop giving people false hope

  15. Hodad Says:

Better we don’t make the playoffs, we’d only get embarassed if we did. We do not have a playoff calibar team, time to face it. Coming out flat, and unprepared yet again in primetime, is on coach Bowles.

  16. heyjude Says:

    “Protect the ball” true that!

Agree with gp and Bucfan1988, thinking the same thing. Also, are refs free to gamble? They didn’t help us during a few games this season with their misses and inaccuracies. Horrible.

  17. Jw94buc Says:

The backup TE couldn’t catch a freaking cold.

  18. Bucsalltheway Says:

We lost because Jalen McMillan is still a rookie and can’t take no pain durham really sucks cade otton was our missing x factor

  19. dmatt Says:

The cowboys were hungry. They were head hunters last night. Bowles should’ve told his players that the cowboys were all coached up last night to specifically play take, snatch, ripped, n Deebo the ball away from the Bucs. For crying out loud that was great coaching by the Cowboys. Their defensive coach noticed how passive n lackadaisical the Bucs receivers n rb handled the ball so his players were coached up to attack the ball. Why didn’t Bowles see that? Why didn’t Rachaad White see that n why was he holding the ball out in one hand. Why didn’t Bowles remind his team about the play earlier in the year when the ball was muscled away from Ryan Miller? Please keep Sterling Shepard on the bench, if he’s not dropping passes he’s causing flags to be dropped on him. Get rid of Bowles, JTS, JDeans, JJRussell, n TPalmer who’s a bust. What happened to Chris Bradwell?

  20. Cobraboy Says:

Why would anyone with any knowledge of Buc history expect anything other than laying an egg last night?

Prime Time, on the road, overhyped, is the perfect three-fer for an abysmal performance.

    And this team delivered.

Bowles will never be anything other than a .500 head coach. At best. And that is based on a large sample size with two teams.

  21. heyjude Says:

Thought the Bucs were really trying hard out there. McMillan is pretty darn good for a rookie. We missed Otton. Rachaad feels bad along with others. So many should of’s. The refs seemed tilted toward the Cowboys. A lot going against us in the Cowboys stadium, right down to the wire.

Falcons play the Commanders next. Washington is looking good these days. They could lose and we could win the next two games. It’s not over yet. Go Bucs!

  22. PSL Bob Says:

Baker fumbled. McMillan and White had the ball wrestled away from them. A problem for sure, but not a traditional fumble.

  23. Les Says:

Ever since they pushed betting on games the no calls have gotten really bad. So many no calls on bucs tonight . Not just the bucs . Look at k.c. so many no calls .the NFL has games fixed . Don’t tell me they don’t. I watch as many games as I can .it’s not only the bucs it is all over the League ! Games are tilted in favor of betting .it is all about the money for the NFL.

  24. Gipper Says:

Players fumble and interceptions happen in the NFL. Bucs are rarely on the receiving end. That dropped INT last night looked familiar. Have seen it many times this year. We were fortunate that Bucs, Nelson, had a strip to help win a recent game at the end. Doesn’t happen enough.

  25. StickinUp4Centers Says:

The CeeDee Lamb push of Zyon no call makes no sense to me.

  26. Buc2Blame Says:

The only team in the NFL who has a Hall of Fame receiver and will not use him will not find ways to get him open. We’ll go quarters will go halves without giving him the ball. This has to be the dumbest organization in the world.

    ==============================
What do you mean they don’t use ME? Last night ME took two defenders to the corner of the end zone leaving Miller wide open for a TD pass. On other plays to other Bucs receivers they were open because ME was getting constant double coverage. That is “using ME” rather than forcing a throw into tight coverage. If Baker had done so and the pass would be picked off, can hear the howling on why force a throw to ME. A lot easier to play the game from a couch rather than actually being on the field.
