Slimy Saints Offense Just What Ailing Bucs Defense Needs

December 30th, 2024

Defense may get a break.

How bad was it yesterday in the first half? Bad enough to get Bucs coach Todd Bowles mad.

The Bucs’ pass defense in the first half was so wretched, Joe thought it was a flag football game.

Pasco County high schools used to have a summer flag league for the schools’ football teams that Joe used to attend, and Joe swore that was what the Bucs defense looked like yesterday. Stinking Panthers receivers, specifically Adam Thielen, were running wild and free through the Bucs’ secondary.

It was absolutely shameful! The duck could have guarded Carolina receivers just as well.

It was right on par with watching the Bucs under Mike Smith try to guard Julio Jones with Ryan Smith.

Bowles was so angry that on the Buccaneers Radio Network in his customary remarks heading to the locker room, Bowles said, “DB’s have to get their heads out of their asses.”

Whoa! That was (and is) so out of character for Bowles. Man, he must have been about to erupt. Given the gravity of yesterday’s game, Joe understood the frustration.

So here come the slimy Saints marching into The Licht House on Sunday in a win-and-in game for Tampa Bay. A win for the Bucs means the NFC South title and hosting a playoff game.

And it seems the ailing Bucs defense, which saw cornerback Jamel Dean hurt (again), will get a break the way the slimy Saints offense is playing of late, documents Jeffri Chadiha of NFL.com.

Given that the Saints have suffered three straight losses and scored a combined 29 points in those contests, it’s hard not to like Tampa Bay’s chances next Sunday.

This is just what the Bucs need: An impotent passing offense for their shaky (to be polite) defense to slow down (forget stop).

This ought to be a fun week leading up to Sunday’s win-and-in game. And Sunday should be loads of fun.

Can’t wait!

Hilarious video lol I thought it was good come on nfl make a better camera for that kinda stuff

  2. Tye Says:

All this NEED to play horrible offenses so the Bucs defense is not so exposed, NEEDING other teams to help the Bucs get into the playoffs to cover up have one of the absolute worse HC/DC is a perfect storm for the Bucs to get steam rolled in front of the nation in the 1st playoff game ……

Not every team in the playoffs is a team worthy of being there…
    Look at the college level….

  3. Leopold Stotch Says:

Ngl Joe, I thought he made it too, until I saw it was in the paint and was like with a second… Then I saw the refs, took a deep breath.

  4. The Buc'n Waterboy Says:

I needed to see that video today. It would have been even better to see when they heard it was no good. And then to watch as they cried in their beer when Shatlanta lost. Oh Falcon tears are great!!

  5. Jethro Tull Says:

That video is better than when Saints owner and his wife celebrated what they thought was a game winner when their kicker hook shanked it badly. Awesome.

  6. KABucs Says:

Our last six games we’ve allowed 16 points per game. What’s aggravating is the fact that they allowed Carolina to score 23 in the first game and then the Cowboys.to score 24. This defense leaves way too many pass catchers wide open but over the last six games, we haven’t had anybody light us up at all. Granted, we played some pretty mediocre teams so that has helped. None of this is even a thing if we keep Atlanta in the high teens to low 20s in those two games and win them both instead of lose close games and allow Atlanta to score into the 30s both times. In my mind, those two games were unforgivable and first game against Carolina and this last game against Dallas, they had no business getting into the twenties. Have to give the offense a little bit of credit as well because they had some inopportune turnovers in all of those games making it a little tougher on the defense.

And regarding that video, I would have loved to have seen the footage of another 30 seconds when all the people in the bar realized what really happened. LOL …and I really love that guy running around all giddy filming all of it. He has one sad, sad but hilarious video now unless he deleted soon after.

  8. Citrus County Says:

I must say I’m flattered by how much Joe uses my material.
    Thanks Joe
Perhaps a little something in the tip jar ?

  9. AirCasted-BoneBruise Says:

I’m holding my breath until the clock strikes 00:00. The saints suck, but I remember a few eggs we have laid against them in previous seasons. Can’t underestimate anyone

  10. Ugotrobbed Says:

The trash talks continues about the Bucs upcoming opponents…then the Bucs go out and get B#^*! slipped by them! On any given Sunday guys!!
    Go Bucs!!

  11. Jerseybuc Says:

Or this is the saints get right defense cuz I can definitely see that als. Radios soft zone finding open spots all day dropping rushers into coverage crowding the line for no reason. Oh yea we seen it all. Nobody QBs look like prime brady

  12. Jmarkbuc Says:

Yeah Joe.. let’s not do the “cakewalk “ thing this time.

The Saints haven’t forgotten we hung 50 on them. Records don’t matter in a division game.

  13. HC Grover Says:

We will clobber the Stanks Then the Big Game v the Lions.

  14. NJBucs Says:

Panthers/Saints offenses = false hope for this horrid defense. That’s all it does.

  15. HC Grover Says:

Awful to be a Falcon Fan….Pheww!

  16. Joe in Michigan Says:

Never underestimate Todd Bowles ability to f*** up a wet dream.

  17. GoneGator Says:

16.33 points per game allowed since the bye (last 6 games) with multiple 3rd stringers.

Yes, the teams we’ve played haven’t been offensive powerhouses but nobody who’s actually been paying attention could logically argue our defense has not improved and isn’t a big part of the reason for our success during this stretch.

As others, more eloquent than I, have previously stated, the offense cost us the Dallas game.

Todd in all likelihood will be back next year. Rightly so. Hopefully Coen too. What would some of y’all have to post about if we fire Todd? That’s ALL some of you EVER post about. Whiny old simpletons 🤬🤣

  18. Pewter Power Says:

And people have to actually wonder why some fans don’t like Todd Bowles a defensive head coach and prefer Coen.

I read The Eagles ranked 31st in the NFL in pass defense last year and 29th in opposing passer rating. They are starting two rookie corners and brought in two veteran safeties. In comes Vic Fangio now they are top 10. No big changes other than coordinator. Todd can’t blame can’t keep blaming a secondary that’s been here this long and can’t blame talent either otherwise Dean wouldn’t have gotten the money like Zyon will.

  19. heyjude Says:

    Love that video!

  20. Scotty Mack Says:

Jordan Whitehead looked horrible. I have no clue (and likely neither does he) who he was guarding on any play. He certainly wasn’t playing safety as guys flew right past him. Although there are several potential candidates, I’d have to say the most disappointing player of the season thus far has been Whitehead.

  21. David Says:

I want to see the defensive line continue getting after the QB.

  22. BA's Red Pen Says:

    Dean is soft.

  23. orlbucfan Says:

They’ve been raising h3ll over on the NYT sports section. Of course, the G-Men look like the mid 1980s Bucs (so do the Jets), so they’ve got to report on winning teams. The Bucs got mentioned only cos the NFC So. is a joke according to the craporate sports blowhards. Bucs will win Sunday but so what? According to a lot of ?marks on here, 10-7 means zilch. Sad ‘fan’ site.

  24. Bobby M. Says:

In the playoffs, all the teams are going to be way more competitive than these weak teams we’ve rallied our season against. There won’t be a crappy Giants team or Panthers or Saints or Raiders. That’s when the mediocrity of our defense will once again be exposed. We couldn’t stop the Cowboys with Cooper Rush…lost to a depleted 49ers, 2x to the Falcons…..those are below avg teams. Beating up on teams that frankly are possibly tanking is going to be fools gold.

  25. Oxycondomns Says:

is it a given carr, kamara, and olave wont play? joe trying for an epic jinx

  26. unbelievable Says:

    Video is hilarious.

As for the sad Saints offense… we see the same thing about the Broncos, and the Falcons, and the Niners, and the Cowboys… but will Joe ever learn? Doubtful.

Never underestimate the Bucs ability to play down to their opponents. Never.
