Run To Win

December 14th, 2024

Needs a big day tomorow.

Interesting stats about the Bucs and Chargers.

Since the three games after their bye, the Bucs have been dominant on the ground. In each game, the Bucs have run for at least 150 yards.

But what about that mighty Chargers defense? Well, maybe it is not so mighty.

People kvetch about the Bucs’ run defense, which ranks No. 11 in yards allowed and No. 23 in yards-per-carry. Well, the Chargers are in about the same boat. They allow 117 yards a game (No. 13) and rank 22nd in yards-per carry.

With Bucky Irving being a gametime decision, is this a game for the depth of the running backs to come through?

Will Sean Tucker and Rachaad White have to go crazy to carry the Bucs to a win because of the Chargers’ strong pass defense?

    rest bucky…

yes rest the lil buckster !

  2. A Bucs Fan Says:

Bucky should not play tomorrow. White and Tucker can rush for over 200 yards against this defense! I want to see 200 yards and 4 rushing TD’s.

  3. adam from ny Says:

long plane ride for bucky back and forth…let him stay back and rest…hell yeah

be freshened up for the cowboys on that turf…
(i think they still play on turf)

let bucky show off those jukes on SNF next week in front of jerry and america’s team

    Both teams like to run-Bucs 20-Chargers 17

  7. Henry Says:

The Chargers are ripe for picking. Bucs win 31 21.

  8. Permanently Moderated Says:

Use Tucker as much as possible. The guy has a strong motor.

  9. BigPoppaBuc Says:

I think they should lean on Tucker, too. The chargers are a stout defense and it’ll take a power/speed runner like Tucker to get consistent enough gains to make the play action work.

  10. El HEFE Says:

It’s gonna be New Orleans game all over but this time it will be white and Tucker….. big up the guts/power with tucker and toss/stretch or screen to white

  11. Jordan Says:

No idea what to expect from this team this week given it’s on west coast and we’re on a winning streak.

Baker has to cut down the turnovers again and play more conservative. Our run game will eventually work and then open up play action for longer developing plays.

  12. unbelievable Says:

Answer to last question – yes. Godwin and Evans are equally critical pieces in this offense, and even not having one of them changes things a lo from a passing perspective. Hopefully, that will start to be mitigated somewhat if J-Mac can become a consistent entity.

Plus our o-line has really excelled at run blocking this year, but pass blocking has taken a step back, and some of their pass blocking deficiencies have been masked by Baker’s escapability and mobility. The problem is once he can’t escape and starts taking sacks, his play seems to go downhill too.

  13. Baking with Coen Says:

Give Tucker another chance at Offensive Player of the Week.
    Run Tucker Run!!!!

  14. Jethro Tull Says:

Kvetch about the run defense but wretch about the pass defense.

  15. orlbucfan Says:

Coen better start calling QB rollouts and bootleg options.

  16. Donald G Says:
