Pro Bowl quarterback Baker Mayfield squares up Sunday against future Hall of Fame Raiders QB Aiden O’Connell at The Licht House for a 1 o’clock kickoff.
Yeah, Joe’s being sarcastic.
O’Connell was a fourth-round pick last season and while his rookie season was promising, O’Connell hasn’t done much in 2024. One reason is because he has the NFL’s worst running game.
However, Bucs fans know this year’s team has a habit of making quarterbacks look a lot better than they are, so Joe is expecting an actual football game Sunday, not what was seen against the Giants 10 days ago.
Mayfield had his leg/Achilles are stomped on Sunday but he’s ready to play. Mayfield made that clear today and Todd Bowles said Mayfield would have been a full participant in practice — if the team had a real practice on this beautiful fall day.
The update on Mayfield has soothed Joe. Mayfield and the Bucs’ running game are the main reasons Tampa Bay should make the playoffs and finish 10-7.

Just found out Bucs old ILB Kwon Alexander was signed to another teams practice quad. know Alexander has suffered from injuries but why wasn’t he even looked at. Licht is falling asleep on the job.

Yeah the real concern is Mike’s got another lower body injury and Bucky has a hip/back strain.

This is an easy answer.
Notice the Bucs signed guys who have played with Todd Bowles before? They already have experience playing in Todd Bowles’ defense? Kwon never played for Bowles. That’s why Licht never re-signed Alexander after the trade deadline.
Bowles even talked about that today. The guys they just signed, they wanted guys who if needed can get on the field quicker. So Licht has been very much awake.

Baker is a fighter. That is for sure. Our own Iron Man.
