Playoffs Creep Closer

December 1st, 2024

Do the Bucs look like a contender?

Who cares? They are a contender.

After today’s freak show in Charlotte, the Bucs have won back-to-back road games and climbed their way back to 6-6. The NFC South title is a clear path now. It’s the Bucs and the Falcons to the death. Atlanta imploded today and fell to 6-6 while the slimy Saints did the same to drop their record to 4-8. The talent-challenged Panthers are 3-9.

The Bucs’ remaning opponents are the Raiders, Panthers and Saints at home, and struggling Dallas and the Chargers the road.

Atlanta heads next to Minnesota, before coming home for the Raiders and Giants. Then they head to Washington and close at home against the Panthers.

The Bucs have an easier schedule, but do they have enough heart and coaching to beat the teams they should?

Joe would bet a few nickels on the Bucs winning the division outright. They’ve got a better quarterback than Atlanta and more talent across the roster.

Man, Joe would love to see the Bucs host the Vikings in the Wild Card round. Winnable!

If the Bucs don’t win the division, ok, they’re still a Wild Card contender. Currently, the Bucs have the best conference record, a key Wild Card tiebreaker, among the teams in the running for the seventh final Wild Card slot.

Man, it is really tough to think playoffs after this afternoon’s “win.”

  2. Beeej Says:

The soft pass coverage: What does Todd know (or believes) that makes him think that’s the only way to go?

  3. Bartow Buc Says:

Joe you are looking too far ahead !! Let’s take it one game at a time and watch the 6-6 Buccaneers Beat the 2-10 Raiders in Tampa on December 8 !!

Go Bucs !!! Beat the Raiders !!!

  4. 74 Bucs Fan Says:

We need to get Tyreek Smith back and get Mike Edwards healthy.

Tough game. Still surprised we won that.

  5. Tucker Says:

Hard to see playoffs when the defense looks like it does, another QB with a career day brutal.

  6. Mac Says:

I just have a bad feeling it will come down to us needing to best the saints and carolina needing to beatt Atlanta to make the playoffs at seasons end. Pray I’m wrong and Bucs win put and Falcons lose 2 or 3 more before the end of the regular season.

  7. Lightningvinny Says:

Not sure about the Coaching but it’s hard to question the heart of this team!

  8. All_da_way Says:

If the Bucs can win against the Raiders then you can start the contender talk. Bucs overall as a team lacked focus.

If it was not for the heroic efforts of a few players like Evans, Irving and Nelson this game could have been different.

‘The Bucs have an easier schedule’

I hate this type of attitude. All games are a potential loss.

  10. Winny Testaverde Says:

Better start game planning for Brock Bowers and Mad Maxx Crosby. They could have huge games next week.

  11. Jerseybuc Says:

Radio and his terrible soft defense needs to go!! Sorry not sorry he stinks

  12. Mike C Says:

I hate this type of attitude. All games are a potential win.

  13. Ryan Smith Says:

We control our own destiny now since Atlanta and Washington play each other. If Washington lose we take their WC spot if Atlanta loses we take their divison spot.Lets hope it doesn’t end in a tie. I could see Kirk exploding and Atlanta losing 2 or 3 games.

  14. Pewter Power Says:

Every game is a potential loss and The talent-challenged Panthers had Jamel Dean playing 10 yards off on 1st down while Zyon is in tight coverage apparently there was somebody back there Dean was afraid of. Bowles is hands off on offense won’t tell his corners how to play. They almost gave this game away so let’s not make Bucs seem superior in this weak division

  15. Dave Pear Says:

    PLAYOFFS?!

    Bwaaahaaaahahaahaaaaaa.

To quote Robert Smith when he was wrong, “This team will get ran.”

As long as the fraud with the circus tufts of hair continues to pretend coaching his DBs to be 20’yards deep in crunch time is good, playoffs ain’t happening. And if by a series of miracles it does….see home playoff game against Dallas Cowboys, 2022. Brady’s last hame. Flat had to be redefined after that. It’s the playoffs — like this game, really.

    Nothing.

    Fire him.

  16. Marky Mark Says:

People the Chiefs needed a walk off FG to Beat the panthers. This is a parity league by design. Every game is tuff.

  17. Dave Pear Says:

This game was an atrocity of coaching incompetence. We simply got out-incompentented.

Undisciplined and flat on offense. OC who has been excellent with some true boneheaded high risk low reward playcalls. Baker thinking he has to be heroic because he knows his defense is giving it up like a street pro giving out free samples. Cover Who way-off zone coverages in every crucial situation (that word). Letting the Panthies drive 75 yards in 90 seconds to score what should have been the winning TD.

Enough, Bucs fans. We have had enough. The team, the personnel, are better than this. It is no surprise to the objective — but the fans with blinders on need to chill as the criticism for the fraud reaches 150dB.

    Fire him.

  18. MelvinJunior Says:

“Contender?” Contender of what!? The Playoffs, MAYBE!?

  19. MelvinJunior Says:

That’s assuming that ALL 3-Teams ‘WIN-OUT,’ Ryan… There’re STILL 4-5 GAMES left for all three. That’s assuming A LOT. Still LOTS of football left to be played.

  20. Dave Pear Says:

Yes there are still games to be played.

    Unfortunate.

The Bowels System Retirement could happen tomorrow otherwise.

Even in 1976, the Bucs defense was better (on a relative basis, obviously the game has changed significantly). An expansion team with an expansion defense played better relative to the league norms than Todd’s colostomy bag.

    Jason. Joel. Darcy.

Please relieve him of active duty and promote him.

  21. heyjude Says:

Optimistically, looking ahead. The Panthers almost beat KC and we beat the Panthers. It was rough, but the Bucs showed us they can turn it around. Go Bucs all the way!

  22. orlbucfan Says:

The Bucs have won 5 in a row in the past. Why not 6? they have had more than their fair share of injuries aka Buc Luck. Do they have heart? Yes. I sure wish Coen would have incorporated QB rollouts and options. I bet BM wouldn’t be limping so much if Coen did.
